Rachel Stevens on grief after S Club bandmate's death – and unexpected way she began to heal

Yahoo19-04-2025
Rachel Stevens has opened up about the profound grief she experienced following the sudden death of her S Club bandmate Paul Cattermole – and revealed how reuniting with the group helped her begin to heal.
In an emotional new interview with Rachel, who turned 47 this week, sits down with us to reflect on the heartbreaking loss of Paul, who passed away suddenly in April 2023 from heart failure, aged just 46. His shocking death came just months before S Club were set to embark on a highly-anticipated reunion tour to celebrate 25 years since the pop group's debut. Speaking candidly, Rachel says the experience of performing with the group again – rebranded as The Good Times Tour in Paul's honour – became a powerful part of her grieving process.
'It was amazing to have the tour and be able to celebrate him,' she shares, 'It gave us a chance to grieve and to grieve together as well, which was special, and share all our amazing memories of him. It was really healing.'

Rachel, who rose to fame in the late '90s with S Club 7's catchy chart-topping hits and feel good pop anthems, admits she's only recently become more comfortable opening up about grief – and has leaned on therapy to support her through the huge life changes of the past few years.
Alongside Paul's tragic passing, Rachel went through a divorce from ex-husband Alex Bourne, the father of her daughters Amelie, 14, and Minnie, 11, in 2022. The family moved home, and Rachel's been focused on rebuilding a new life for herself and her girls.
'My life has changed hugely over the last few years,' she reflects. 'With divorce, moving, selling our family home, my life has really taken a whole new direction.'
As she discusses her emotional growth, Rachel credits regular therapy – and the people closest to her – with helping her rediscover her voice and resilience. 'The thing I've learnt is to give yourself space for how you feel and to be kind to yourself about it and to talk to people,' she says
Now in a happy relationship with professional ice skater Brendyn Hatfield, Rachel is embracing a slower, more grounded pace of life, focussed on family, self-care and creating new routines. From carving out time for solo moments and date nights, to nurturing her daughters through their teenage years, Rachel says she's finally starting to feel more in tune with who she really is.
'There's lots of navigating, lots of change and new experiences,' she explains. 'But I'm honestly just trying to be the best mum I can be at this point. I want to give [the girls] the opportunity to express how they feel things are working – and know they have a voice and that they're heard.'

Jason Ralph Likes Shady Comment On David Corenswet

If you know Rachel Brosnahan, then you probably also know Rachel Brosnahan's husband, Jason Ralph. He's an actor who's been in stuff like The Magicians and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He and Rachel have been married since 2018 after meeting on the set of 2014's I'm Obsessed With You: But You've Got To Leave Me Alone. Well, he's currently going viral after allegedly liking a VERRYYY weird comment about Rachel's chemistry with her Superman co-star David Corenswet. This summer, the two appeared in the superhero film as lovers Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Amid its press cycle, Jason received a shady fan comment on a random Instagram photo he posted that encouraged him to "stand up" for himself and "leave" Rachel because of her apparent chemistry with David. It said, "It's genuinely sad to see your career being tucked out to be remembered as a cuckold because your wife couldn't handle herself with her co-actor. Like bro.. let's have some self love and stand up for yourself man, leave her to be with him if she wants that much at the end of the day." Instead of shutting the comment down or, you know, ignoring it, Jason apparently liked it. He has since turned off the comments on the post, but not before fans grabbed the screenshot, which sparked tons of discourse this week when it was shared on Reddit. In short, people thought Jason's reaction was very bizarre. One person said his response was "so embarrassing." "What an idiot," commented another. "Even if they're having marital problems, why would you set up your wife to be attacked by a bunch of losers on the internet? I'm sure thats not gonna make things better." As another viewer stated, "Men are such strange creatures." "So weird," someone added, as another fan wondered, "What the actual F!" "They simply are not lonely enough," another person joked. At the same time, some people defended Jason, speculating that he liked the post jokingly or sarcastically. This viewer said, "I read the like as trolling the commenter, but could be wrong." Another agreed that it did seem "like a sarcastic like to me." "I truly think this is him liking it because it's absurd, not because he's like….hurting deeply," a third insisted. "I know David and his wife, and while I don't know Jason and Rachel personally, this tracks with Jason's social media vibe overall!" One more echoed that thought. "I don't think he liked it as a way of agreeing with the comment," they wrote. "My understanding of the like is that he was trolling the person, because the message is truly ridiculous and shows no understanding of what acting is." Even so, some people thought Jason's reaction was still very strange. "This is a weird thing to like sarcastically as opposed to replying sarcastically," one person said. Well! We've reached out to reps for Rachel and Jason to see if they have any comment on this, but in the meantime, tell me what you make of his Instagram behavior below!

Rachel Zegler and Nathan Louis-Fernand's Relationship Timeline

Big news, everyone: Rachel Zegler and her new backup dancer boyfriend Nathan Louis-Fernand are still very much a thing. A month after making things Instagram official, Rachel and Nathan have been spotted looking very loved-up all over London, which means it's high time to discuss how and when these two first got together. But first things first: Who is this man? Nathan is a professional dancer who has performed in several musicals, including Hamilton, & Juliet, and The Lion King. He also worked on the London performance of Magic Mike Live (!!) and has appeared in music videos for everyone from Diplo to Jesy Nelson to Swedish House Mafia. Now let's talk about how he and Rachel came to be, shall we? Rumors start circulating that Rachel Zegler and her West Side Story costar Josh Andrés Rivera have broken up after just about three years together. Us Weekly later reveals that the two 'quietly split' in late 2024, though the reason for the breakup is unclear. Rehearsals begin for the West End production of Evita, which is where Rachel and Nathan first cross paths. As a source later tells People, the couple 'had an instant connection' and 'started dating early summer.' On July 6, the Daily Mail obtains pics of Rachel kissing a ~mystery man~ (who is later identified as Nathan) at Sabrina Carpenter's Hyde Park show. Two days later, Rachel drops a 20-pic carousel on Instagram, which includes a cute pic of herself and Nathan, confirming their 'ship. And by the end of the month, the new couple was spotted out and about in London walking a cute dog together. Twice already this month, Rachel and Nathan have been papped while strolling around London's Primrose Hill—once on August 4, and then again on August 10. Happy for these two!!
