Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center holds "He's My Hero" Father's Day celebration

CBS News15-06-2025
People across North Texas are honoring dads this Father's Day. The Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center held "He's My Hero" photo experiences for dads, bonus dads, and father figures on Sunday at Concord Church in Dallas.
Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center CEO Trina Terrell-Andrews said dads could make memories with their kids through a variety of photos.
"We'll have a movie, drive-through set up for him, as well as a 360 and some other interactive experiences today," Terrell-Andrews said.
Families could pet a live horse, see a car show, and participate in the Mark Cuban Suit-Up Experience. It showed dads in different professions, such as a farmer, a firefighter, and a doctor.
The event also included food trucks, live performances, music, and more to make dad feel special on his big day.
"I'm blessed to have my kids and my family, and I thank God for him giving me my two daughters ... And I'm thankful to God for that," a dad who attended the event said.
"They're celebrated. We appreciate them," Terrell-Andrews said. "We honor them, and we really love the fact that they've stepped up, stepped in, gone above and beyond and done a lot more than most people even know."
The Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center in Dallas serves neighborhood youth and families year-round through sports and leadership programs.

Kylie Kelce explains why she's against girls wearing bikinis

It's probably not what you think. Kylie Kelce may love summer days at the Jersey Shore, but she's not a fan of one particular staple of kids' beach fashion — bikinis. And her reason has nothing to do with modesty. In an interview with through her partnership with Dove's Body Confident Sport program, the mom of four revealed that the real issue is sunscreen. 'I have to be honest, I'm against the bikinis because I don't want to have to sunscreen that many spots,' she said. 'I'm a big proponent of the long sleeve swimsuits, specifically on the beach, because even when we have a two-piece with the long sleeve sun shirt, I still have to re-sunscreen their belly and their back.' Kelce — who shares daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and 3-month-old Finnley with retired NFL star Jason Kelce — said the process of chasing down squirming toddlers to cover every inch of skin is '100% necessary and 0% fun for anyone involved.' She pointed out that swimwear shifts a lot during play: 'You know how much their swimsuits move while they're digging in the sand and playing in the waves. It is a hassle and a half.' While Kelce says modesty is 'great for kids,' her stance is purely practical: 'Ultimately I don't want to have to sunscreen you any more than I already do. It's torture.' Beyond swimwear, Kelce told she and Jason are focused on instilling positive body image in their kids, encouraging them to stay active through team sports, beach play, and time outdoors. Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's cause of death revealed

The official cause of death for Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock has been confirmed. After the death of the talent manager on Thursday, who shared two children with the 'Stronger' singer, Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis determined that he died from natural causes related to a melanoma diagnosis. 'Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7 under hospice care surrounded by his family,' Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis told People. On Aug.7, Blackstock's representative confirmed his death in a statement after his years-long battle with cancer. He was 48-years-old. 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,' his rep shared in a statement. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.' Less than 24 hours before the news, Clarkson postponed her Vegas residency revealing that her children's father was 'ill.' 'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,' she announced on Instagram. 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.' In a heartbreaking video circulating on social media, Clarkson appears visibly emotional on stage during her July 26 performance in Las Vegas. The 'American Idol' alum held back tears as she introduced her 2015 hit 'Piece by Piece.' 'Compartmentalization,' Clarkson jokingly says to the crowd as she wipes tears from her eyes. 'I'm really trying to pull it together.' The Grammy winner and Blackstock married in 2013. The pair later welcomed two children — daughter River in 2014 and son Remington in 2016 — before Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020. After a messy legal battle, they finalized their divorce in 2022. Prior to his relationship with Clarkson, Blackstock was married to Melissa Ashworth from 2001 to 2012, with whom he shared 23-year-old daughter Savannah and 18-year-old-son Seth. Blackstock was expecting his third grandchild before his death. _______
