Colorado football's 2026 offer letters are out of this world
He has brought in refreshed uniforms, new gear and a superior culture that was severely lacking before his arrival.
That swag is, of course, a significant presence in recruiting, and it put the program's 2026 offer letters over the top.
The official offers were sent out to Colorado's class of 2026 verbal commits, and as of Friday evening, there are ten. Colorado's top-rated commit, defensive back Preston Ashley, showed off the letter in a social media post.
The offer letter includes trading cards of each coach on Colorado's staff, with each emphasizing the NFL experience that is so abundant. Each card features a picture of the coach with their former NFL team, along with a couple of seemingly exclusive cards of Deion Sanders himself. It truly is a unique and creative way to showcase the coaching talent currently in Boulder to recruits.
Each letter also comes with a personalized trading card that resembles a one-of-one collectible card.
Colorado routinely goes above and beyond in their recruiting efforts, and these 2026 official offers are simply another example.

NFL preseason: 5 things to watch in Week 1, including Shedeur Sanders' start and the J.J. McCarthy era beginning
The NFL preseason is about to kick off leaguewide, and while some teams and players have more at stake than others, there's no shortage of interesting storylines. Here are five things to watch in preseason Week 1. Shedeur Sanders is starting in a prime time preseason game, because of course Browns at Panthers, 7 p.m. ET Friday Would ya look at that. The stars have aligned for the perfect game to get people interested in the NFL preseason, with Browns fifth-round rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders getting the nod to start their opener against the Panthers. Sanders has been a lightning rod for a few years dating back to his play at Colorado, and now he's going to get the first crack at playing quarterback for the rudderless Browns this season. This decision is largely because of injuries to Dillon Gabriel and Kenny Pickett, but it still will give him a chance to start to separate himself heading into the middle of training camp. Sanders hasn't practiced much with the starters this preseason, which is to be expected as a fifth-round pick, and now can make his mark. Neither a good nor bad performance really means much here — Pickett absolutely torched the preseason prior to his last season starting in Pittsburgh. However, it's a start and it's something for Sanders fans to latch onto because he probably won't be playing much during the regular season. The biggest piece of intrigue here is if he can play well enough to surpass the third round-rookie Gabriel on the depth chart moving forward. The J.J. McCarthy era is here Texans at Vikings, 4 p.m. ET Saturday Mulligan. After being a top-10 pick for the Vikings in 2024, J.J. McCarthy tore his meniscus, resulting in him missing his entire rookie season while Sam Darnold helped take the Vikings to the playoffs. Now, it's the McCarthy show and he's got a chance to have a breakout season in his first year with the reins in his hands. To help his cause, the Vikings did go out and completely revamp the interior offensive line and give themselves, on paper, one of the best offensive lines in the entire league. Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison (minus the first three games) are still here and Kevin O'Connell will put McCarthy in good spots. It's an interesting place for McCarthy to be in his first year as a starter. On one hand, McCarthy probably should have the expectations of a rookie. On the other, everyone knows if he's good enough, the Vikings may be able to go on a run deep into the playoffs. No pressure. He might have the biggest spotlight of any young quarterback in the league with what this team feels like they can accomplish. Chip Kelly makes his return to the NFL Raiders at Seahawks, 7 p.m. ET Thursday After nine seasons away from the NFL, including a stop as the head coach at UCLA and calling plays for Ohio State, Chip Kelly is back at the professional level. Kelly's last stint in the NFL came as the head coach of the 49ers in 2016, which coincided with an unimaginative offense and one of the worst defenses in the league. While college football is certainly a different game than the NFL, Kelly seems to be rejuvenated and had UCLA moving in the right-ish direction before taking over the Buckeyes' offense and winning a national championship. Now, Kelly is in Las Vegas running the Raiders offense for the newly hired Pete Carroll. They certainly needed an upgrade at offensive play-caller with how poorly they performed last year and it'll be interesting to see what Kelly plans to do with his new offense. Geno Smith, Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty are a nice little trio to get things moving, but they'll need Kelly to be the offensive genius he's billed to be in order to keep pace with the other teams in the division. Kelly has been a centerpiece figure of the last two decades of college and pro football, now he's back and has to get this Raiders offense moving in a hurry. The first step for Travis Hunter's quest to do the unthinkable Steelers at Jaguars, 7 p.m. ET Saturday Modern NFL fans have their version of a renaissance man that hasn't been seen in a very, very long time. Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter appears to be headed toward doing the unthinkable: be a near full-time player on both sides of the ball. Right now, Hunter has been running with the starters on offense while rotating in on defense, but his skill level at cornerback is all the talk in Jacksonville. He simply might be too good at that position to not start at cornerback, but the Jaguars will get a first glimpse at the feasibility of Hunter's two-way goals in their preseason opener. It's unknown how many snaps Hunter will play this weekend, but this is legitimately the most fascinating rookie of this era of football. There's a long way to go in terms of figuring out if an NFL player can play significant snaps on offense and defense, but the fact that he's even talented enough to try makes him an all-time prospect. Even in the preseason, this is going to be something worth carving out time for, just from a spectacle standpoint. Anthony Richardson's last chance It seems like the Colts are on their last legs with this whole Anthony Richardson thing and now he finds himself in a quarterback battle for his job … against Daniel Jones. Truthfully, it's a little unclear what exactly Jones is supposed to provide that Richardson doesn't already, so if he just can handle business in camp and during the preseason he should at least get one more shot to be the Week 1 starter for the Colts. The book on Richardson is the same as it's always been. He's got all the physical talent in the world, sees the field well enough, but his accuracy has just been all over the place. If he can finally find a way to increase his completion percentage and scale back some of the deep passing attempts, there's room for him to continue as the Colts' starting quarterback — but the clock's been ticking and every single rep, preseason included, will help determine his future.

Young QBs in spotlight as Commanders, Patriots share field in scrappy joint practice
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Drake Maye isn't exactly measuring himself against Jayden Daniels. But the New England Patriots quarterback is keeping tabs on what his Washington Commanders' counterpart — and others from their draft class — are up to heading into their second NFL seasons. Maye and Daniels were on the field together Wednesday for a joint practice between the teams in advance of their exhibition game on Friday. For Maye it was a reminder of the potential and expectations they both carry. 'I saw him out there. I congratulated him. What a year he had,' Maye said. 'I think there's always in the back of your mind the draft class you came in with, and anytime you play him, especially, it's a little different. ... I think I'm just trying to worry about myself, but at the end of the day, keep up with those guys. Those guys are — him and Caleb (Williams) and Bo (Nix), those guys are good friends of mine, and they're friends until we play each other.' Friday's game won't count in the standings and the Commanders will be approaching it as such with Washington coach Dan Quinn announcing before practice that Daniels will not play in the exhibition. With backup Marcus Mariota also nursing a lower leg strain, quarterbacks Josh Johnson and Sam Hartman will handle the offense for Washington. Receiver Terry McLaurin, who is on the physically unable to perform list with an ankle injury in addition to 'holding in' as contract talks continue, was among the Commanders players that didn't make the trip. But Maye is expected to see action, with first-year Patriots coach Mike Vrabel saying that all healthy players would receive at least some playing time. High intensity While there was no tackling allowed during Wednesday's session, it didn't stop tempers from flaring during a pair of scuffles. The first featured just minor shoving between linemen. But the second, after Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson got tangled up with a Commanders defender, caused players from both sidelines to rush the field as even Vrabel jumped into the ensuing scrum. 'That's just how the game goes. Two teams with very competitive coaches, and players are representative of their coach,' Commanders cornerback Mike Sainristil said. 'We're out there competing and they're competing. But just being able to de-escalate situations before they get worse is very professional. Sometimes things happen. Guys start chirping. It's the game of football.' Maye liked the fire his teammates showed during the exchanges. 'That's what we're trying to build, I think, and it starts with the coach. The intensity, bringing it every day, taking no (nonsense) when we're out there on the field,' he said. 'But also, it comes to a time where, with our guys offensively, and getting over there and getting some tussles, and kind of having some penalties, and extra after the whistle can get us in trouble. But for mentality, I like it. I think that's what you want. I mean, I almost got in there, but I think maybe another day, maybe. We'll see.' Highlights Between the pushing and shoving, both teams also had some highlight plays in front of a packed house of VIP onlookers that included Celtics star Jayson Tatum and rock star Jon Bon Jovi. Maye spread the ball around for multiple TD passes during some red zone situations. Washington's defense also got the best of Maye late in practice when his pass to receiver DeMario Douglas was tipped by Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner and intercepted by Sainristil. But Maye said he was pleased with the day overall. 'Anything is positive when you're moving the ball,' Maye said. 'It looked like some football out there against a different team. Felt good to get our operations done against somebody else. We did some no-huddle that I thought went well. The alpha College GameDay performance that got Tory Horton drafted
There's a reason the Seattle Seahawks drafted wide receiver Tory Horton despite him missing his entire senior season with injuries. Although he sat out 2024, he announced himself to the world in Week 3 of the 2023 Season on College GameDay. Sleeper Seahawks tweeted the highlights of his performance, which made them go semi-viral among Seahawks fan circles, to the tune of 63.6k Views in just under 24 hours. Those who remember the hype around Deion Sanders in his first year as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes will recall specifically how much coverage they received in the first month, while CU Boulder was still undefeated after pulling off a dramatic ranked win against No. 17 TCU and carving up one of their old-time Big XII rivals in Nebraska. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders were just announcing themselves to the national stage as well, so few were surprised when ESPN brought College GameDay to Boulder, even though their cross-state rivals in the Colorado State Rams were unusual for the spotlight as a Group of 5 team. However, the Rams had several players who would use the platform to become stars and go on to get drafted as well. Mohamed Kamara made life hard for Shedeur Sanders and company on offense in this game, and now is in his second year with the Miami Dolphins, who drafted him in the 5th Round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Tory Horton caught 16 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown in this game, and truly exposed this Colorado team's notable weaknesses. He proved that despite all the momentum in the world, good teams are susceptible to a versatile receiver who can run the whole route tree. The same abilities that made him great in this game translate excellently to the NFL and fit perfectly in Klint Kubiak's new offense with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. All three receivers have the ability to play inside and outside WR positions which allows for shifts and motions that our past receivers weren't as advantageous running. The only wish I have for Horton's season is that he stays healthy.
