Trouble continues to court Kapil Sharma as Kap's Cafe faces second attack, just days after Surrey Mayor's visit
A post on social media, purportedly by a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the latest attack. 'We called him but he did not hear the ring so action had to be taken. Now, if he does not hear, then the next action will be taken in Mumbai,' read the post in Hindi.
Kap's Cafe had posted a video with Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke and police officials just days prior to the latest shooting incident with the caption, 'Thank you to the mayor of Surrey, Brenda Locke, Surrey Police Service, and all the officials who visited us to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We're truly grateful.'
The cafe had reopened just two weeks before the mayor's visit, and the staff had announced on Instagram, 'The lights are on, the coffee's warm, and our hearts are full.'
The initial attack took place on July 10, when multiple bullets struck the cafe and nearby buildings. One of India's most wanted fugitives, Harjit Singh Laddi, of BKI (Babbar Khalsa International), claimed responsibility for the attack. The assailants claimed that the attack was orchestrated to take revenge after Kap's Cafe owner Kapil Sharma allegedly made some joke about Nihang Sikhs.
The Kap's Cafe team had addressed the first attack on social media and released a statement stating, 'A Message from the Heart: We opened Kap's Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up.' The cafe, which is very much still in its nascent stage, continued, 'Thank you for your support, your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM. Let's stand firm against violence and ensure Kap's Cafe remains a place of warmth and community. See you soon under better skies.'

A Facebook post has surfaced on social media in which Dhillon is seen admitting the gang's role behind attacks at Kapil Sharma's cafe and sending a stern warning to the comedian. 'JAI SHRI RAM, Satshriakal ram sare bhaiyo ko aj jo y kapil sharma k kaps m firing hui iski jimevari, Goldy dhillon, Lawrence bishnoi gang lete h isko hamne call ki thi isko ring nhi Sunai di to karwai krni pdi ab b ring n sunegi to next karwai jaldi hi Mumbai krege"(sic) the post read. This roughly translates to, 'We take responsibility for the firing in Surrey. We had called him, but he did not hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still does not hear the ring next action will be in Mumbai," the purported post read. However, the Mumbai police is still verifying the authenticity of the Facebook post. What Happened At Kapil Sharma's Canada Cafe? Shots were fired at comedian and actor Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada on Thursday morning, the second such incident in a month. Kap's Café, located in Surrey, British Columbia, is owned by comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath. A purported video of the attack surfaced on social media in which at least 25 gunshots were heard. The cafe came under a similar attack on July 10, which authorities believe was orchestrated by the Laddi gang linked to the banned Khalistani terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). When Kapil Sharma Reacted To The Attack At His Cafe Last week, Kapil Sharma, in a collaborative post with his wife, Ginni, shared a video of officials visiting his café as they enjoyed a peaceful meal. However, what caught everyone's attention was the caption of the post, in which Kapil made it clear that they do not support any sort of violence. 'Thank you Mayor Brenda Locke, @surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We're truly grateful," the comedian wrote. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. MVA workers protest over alleged missing items from civic chief's bungalow
Members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) staged a protest outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday, demanding action over the alleged disappearance of household items from the civic commissioner's official residence. The protestors also sought the registration of a case in the matter. The protest follows reports claiming that several items, including antique lamps, chandeliers, air-conditioning units and television sets, had gone missing from the residence recently occupied by municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. (HT PHOTO) The protest follows reports claiming that several items, including antique lamps, chandeliers, air-conditioning units and television sets, had gone missing from the residence recently occupied by municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. Ram, who succeeded Rajendra Bhosale after his retirement on May 31, moved into the official bungalow only a few days ago. On Wednesday, he announced an internal inquiry into the matter. Prashant Jagtap, president of the city unit of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), alleged that Bhosale had taken some of the items while vacating the bungalow. Bhosale, however, strongly denied the allegation. 'I did not remove any government property. Only personal belongings were taken while vacating the house,' Bhosale said. He also suggested that the current commissioner should verify the inventory to clear any doubts. According to Jagtap, after reports of the missing items surfaced, MNS workers, including Kishore Shinde, visited the PMC chief's office seeking clarification. 'Instead of addressing the issue, the commissioner had them removed from his office. The PMC must apologise for registering a case against MNS leaders and initiate action against Bhosale,' Jagtap said. Meanwhile, city Congress chief Arvind Shinde slammed the commissioner for allegedly referring to Kishore Shinde as a 'goon'. 'Calling a two-term corporator and a multiple-time assembly candidate a goon is unacceptable,' he said. The situation escalated on Wednesday evening when MNS workers barged into the commissioner's office during a meeting. As per sources, Ram asked Shinde to leave the room in Hindi, to which Shinde objected and insisted on the use of Marathi. Security personnel intervened and escorted the group out of the premises. Later, a case was registered at Shivajinagar Police Station under section 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging duty) against the MNS workers involved. In response, PMC staff unions held their own protest on Thursday, condemning the actions of the MNS and expressing solidarity with the civic chief.

In a case where crime met clicks, a gang of burglars that came together through an Instagram group to plan and carry out house thefts across Lucknow has been busted by the Ashiyana police. Four members have been arrested, and valuables worth around ₹35 lakh have been recovered, including jewellery and a motorcycle, police confirmed on Thursday. A burglar gang that came together through an Instagram group was busted by Ashiyana police on Thursday (Sourced) Police said the gang was led by 27-year-old Sudhir Kashyap of Lucknow, who created the Instagram group to recruit members and coordinate burglaries. Namit Mishra, also from Lucknow, would spot locked homes and alert others. Gaurav Singh, 21, and Md Zeshan, 25, both from Lakhimpur Kheri, would immediately travel to Lucknow in about three hours to join the thefts. The gang conducted recces during the day and carried out the burglaries at night. 'Sudhir could break into a house and finish the job within 30 minutes, including opening safes and cabinets,' DCP Central Ashish Srivastava said. Police apprehended the suspects near the BBAU University wall after they were found loitering on a motorcycle. Their inability to produce vehicle papers and inconsistent answers during questioning led to further probe and detention. The gang is suspected to be behind several burglaries reported at Ashiyana and PGI police stations. Recovered items include over 60 stolen items, gold and silver jewellery, silverware, and the motorcycle used in the crimes. Sudhir Kashyap is named in over 10 earlier cases registered in Lucknow and Lakhimpur Kheri, involving robbery and housebreaking. Investigations are on to ascertain the background of the other accused and their possible connection to more unsolved theft cases.
