Trump slams own supporters as ‘weaklings' for falling for Epstein ‘hoax'

US President Donald Trump is lashing out at his own supporters, accusing them of being duped by Democrats, as he tries to clamp down on criticism over his administration's handling of much-hyped records in the Jeffrey Epstein sex-trafficking investigation, which Trump now calls a 'Hoax'.
'Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this 'b******t, hook, line, and sinker,' Trump wrote Wednesday on social media, using an expletive in his post.
'They haven't learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.'
'Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don't even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don't want their support anymore! Thank you for your attention to this matter,' he went on.
The rhetoric marks a dramatic escalation for the Republican president, who has broken with some of his most loyal backers in the past, but never with such fervour.

The schism centres on his administration's handling of documents surrounding Epstein, who was found dead in his New York jail cell in August 2019, weeks after his arrest on sex-trafficking charges.

US man dies after being yanked into MRI machine while wife was getting scan

A man who was pulled into an MRI machine in New York after he walked into the room wearing a large chain necklace has died, according to police and his wife, who told a local television outlet that he waved goodbye before his body went limp. The man, 61, had entered an MRI room while a scan was under way on Wednesday afternoon at Nassau Open MRI. The machine's strong magnetic force drew him in by his metallic necklace, according to a release from the Nassau County Police Department. He died Thursday afternoon, but a police officer who answered the phone at the Nassau County police precinct where the MRI facility is located said the department had not been given permission to release the name on Saturday. Adrienne Jones-McAllister told News 12 Long Island in a recorded interview that she was undergoing an MRI on her knee when she asked the technician to get her husband, Keith McAllister, to help her get off the table. When he got close to her, she said, 'at that instant, the machine switched him around, pulled him in and he hit the MRI'. 'I said: 'Could you turn off the machine, call 911, do something, Turn this damn thing off!'' she recalled, as tears ran down her face. 'He went limp in my arms.'

Why Stephen Colbert is the latest casualty of late-night TV's changing economics

Late-night television had been fighting for its survival even before The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was cancelled this week. The announced end of one of the most popular broadcast late-night shows, days after host Stephen Colbert accused the network owner of bribing President Donald Trump to approve a merger, drew cries of political foul play from liberal politicians, artists and entertainers. 'Stephen Colbert, an extraordinary talent and the most popular late-night host, slams the deal. Days later, he's fired. Do I think this is a coincidence? NO,' Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent, wrote on social media. CBS executives said in a statement that dropping the show was 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.' Whether politics were at play, the late-night format has been struggling for years, as viewers increasingly cut the cable TV cord and migrated to streaming. Younger viewers, in particular, are more apt to find amusement on YouTube or TikTok, leaving smaller, ageing TV audiences and declining ad revenues. Americans used to religiously turn on Johnny Carson or Jay Leno before bed, but nowadays, many fans prefer to watch quick clips on social media at their convenience. Advertising revenue for Colbert's show has dropped 40 per cent since 2018 – the financial reality that CBS said prompted the decision to end The Late Show in May 2026.

Car rams into crowd in Los Angeles, injuring 30 people, 3 in critical condition

A vehicle rammed into a crowd of people waiting to enter a nightclub along a busy boulevard in Los Angeles early on Saturday, injuring 30 people. Victims were transported to local hospitals and trauma centres, according to Captain Adam Van Gerpen, public information officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. At least three were in critical condition after being injured along Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, the Fire Department said in a statement. A group of mostly women was waiting to get into a nightclub when a Nissan Versa crashed into them, as well as a taco truck and a valet stand. Paramedics discovered that one of the patients had a gunshot wound, Van Gerpen said, and that the identity of that person was not yet known.
