HBO has unveiled the first official image from its highly anticipated Harry Potter television series.
Production on the new HBO Original series is now underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., the same studio that housed much of the original film franchise. The series is set to debut in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.
The newly released image doesn't give away much in terms of plot, but it does show a glowing Hogwarts crest and the iconic castle silhouetted behind a golden haze. For longtime fans, it's a magical signal that the reboot is very real and very much happening.
The lead roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be played by Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton, respectively. The latest round of casting includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Anton Lesser as wandmaker Garrick Ollivander.
The series has also assembled an impressive creative team. Succession alum Francesca Gardiner serves as writer and executive producer, while Game of Thrones and The Menu director Mark Mylod is on board to executive produce and helm multiple episodes.
Also joining the production are Oscar-winning cinematographer Adriano Goldman, creature effects designer John Nolan (Westworld), and Emmy-winning costume designer Holly Waddington (Poor Things).
The series will be produced by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television. J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts will executive produce on behalf of Brontë, with longtime Harry Potter producer David Heyman also returning via Heyday Films.
HBO has previously described the reboot as a 'faithful adaptation' of Rowling's seven books, with each season expected to cover one installment in the series. The show will exist independently from the original film franchise.
The magic is certainly brewing!

Prince William and Princess Charlotte pose for cute photo at Euro 2025 final

Prince William and Princess Charlotte are ready for some soccer. The Prince of Wales, 43, and his 10-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte stepped out on Sunday, July 27, in Switzerland to attend the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final between England and Spain. Charlotte, who wore a blue dress with white polka dots for the occasion, posed for photos with her dad at the event, as seen in a picture shared on the official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account. Ahead of the match, William wished the England women's national soccer team good luck in an Instagram story. "The nation is so proud you are through to the final after some stunning comebacks!" he wrote. "We are all cheering you on!" William checked in with another message halfway through the match, writing, "May the best team win." Princess Charlotte looks just like Prince William in birthday photo taken by Princess Kate The public outing comes after William, Charlotte, Princess Kate and Prince George all stepped out on July 13 to attend the Wimbledon Championships' singles final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Charlotte was wearing a ruffled white dress for that game. The royal family recently celebrated Prince George's 12th birthday on Tuesday, July 22. In a photo shared on Instagram, George was seen wearing a blue and white button-down shirt and zip-up vest, and a video showed him posing for pictures with his siblings Charlotte and Prince Louis, 7. Though she announced in January that her cancer is in remission, she was unexpectedly absent from a scheduled public appearance at Royal Ascot in June. Earlier this month, while visiting Colchester Hospital in Essex, Kate discussed how the next phase of recovery after treatment can be challenging. "You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment," she said. "Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually the phase afterwards is really, really difficult." 'Fantastic Four' wins battle of heroes at N. America box office

"The Fantastic Four: First Steps," Disney's hotly anticipated reboot of the Marvel Comics superhero franchise, conquered the North American weekend box office, earning $118 million and sidelining "Superman," industry estimates showed Sunday. "Fantastic Four" -- starring actor-of-the-moment Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Emmy winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn ("Stranger Things') -- tells the story of a team of heroes trying to save a retro-futuristic world from the evil Galactus. "This is an outstanding opening," said David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research. "'Fantastic Four' was a modest and struggling superhero series; it just caught up with the biggest and the best." "Superman," the latest big-budget action film featuring the iconic superhero from Warner Bros. and DC Studios, slipped to second place at $24.9 million, Exhibitor Relations said. That puts the global take of the film, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, over the $500 million mark. "Jurassic World: Rebirth" -- the latest installment in the blockbuster dinosaur saga -- finished in third place at $13 million. Its worldwide total stands at $672.5 million. The Universal film, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, takes viewers to an abandoned island research facility, where secrets -- and genetically mutated dinosaurs -- are lurking. "F1: The Movie," the Apple and Warner Bros. flick starring Brad Pitt as a washed-up Formula One driver who gets one last shot at redemption, moved up to fourth place at $6.2 million. "Smurfs," the latest film featuring the adorable blue creatures and starring Rihanna as Smurfette, slipped to fifth place in only its second week in theaters with $5.4 million in North American ticket sales. "The box office is on an excellent run that started two weeks ago," Gross said. "These are not the good old days, but 'Fantastic Four' and 'Superman' are performing extremely well. Superheroes are showing some swagger, and it's good news for the industry." Rounding out the top 10 were: "I Know What You Did Last Summer" ($5.1 million) "How to Train Your Dragon" ($2.8 million) "Eddington" ($1.7 million) "Saiyaara" ($1.3 million) "Oh, Hi!" ($1.1 million) bur-sst/ksb
