Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann among 534 people invited to join Academy for Oscar voting

Actors Kamal Haasan and Ayushamann Khurrana will represent India in this year's new invites to The Academy. Upon accepting the invitation, they will be able to vote for the Oscar-nominated films. On June 26, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the list of invitations, which includes names like Gillian Anderson, Ariana Grande, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong and Jason Momoa, among others.advertisementApart from Kamal Haasan and Ayushmann Khurrana, filmmaker Payal Kapadia, documentary filmmaker Smriti Mundra, costume designer Maxima Basu, cinematographer Ranabir Das and casting director Ranabir Das are the other representees from India in this year's list.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang issued a statement expressing their happiness at inviting the new class.
"We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy. Through their commitment to filmmaking and to the greater movie industry, these exceptionally talented individuals have made indelible contributions to our global filmmaking community, " the duo said.

The Academy invited actors, directors, technicians and producers among 19 other branches, who are chosen based on professional qualifications. Of the 534 people who have been invited this year, 41 per cent are women, 45 per cent from underrepresented communities and 55 per cent from 60 countries and territories outside the United States.Currently, the global membership of The Academy is more than 10,500. With the new class of invites, the number will cross 11,000.The Oscars will take place on March 15, 2026, hosted by Conan O'Brien. The nomination process and voting will take place between January 12 to January 16. After consideration, the final list of nominees will be announced on January 22.- EndsMust Watch
