
Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann among 534 people invited to join Academy for Oscar voting
Actors Kamal Haasan and Ayushamann Khurrana will represent India in this year's new invites to The Academy. Upon accepting the invitation, they will be able to vote for the Oscar-nominated films. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang issued a statement expressing their happiness at inviting the new class.
"We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy. Through their commitment to filmmaking and to the greater movie industry, these exceptionally talented individuals have made indelible contributions to our global filmmaking community, " the duo said.

The Academy invited actors, directors, technicians and producers among 19 other branches, who are chosen based on professional qualifications. Of the 534 people who have been invited this year, 41 per cent are women, 45 per cent from underrepresented communities and 55 per cent from 60 countries and territories outside the United States.Currently, the global membership of The Academy is more than 10,500. With the new class of invites, the number will cross 11,000.The Oscars will take place on March 15, 2026, hosted by Conan O'Brien.
