These Georgia towns make Southern Living's 'best places to go in 2025.' See where
Two towns in the state have been named among Southern Living's list of the 25 best places to go in the South in 2025. The magazine's list highlights towns that offer a unique blend of Southern charm, history, and culture.
While many are familiar with the renowned Callaway Resort and Gardens, a lesser-known treasure awaits just 40 minutes away.
Located in LaGrange, at 1916 Hills and Dales Dr., is Hills and Dales Estate. This is the former family home of textile magnate Cason J. Callaway and offers a glimpse into a bygone era.
"The 1916 Georgian-Italian villa is famous for its boxwoods, camellias, and orchids," Southern Living wrote. "Its 1841 grounds are considered some of the best-preserved 19th-century gardens in America."
Also in the Peach State is Quercus, a resort located in Gay, at 208 Caldwell St. It is situated on 3,800 acres of land and was originally founded in the 1970s as a working farm.
Today, Quercus is a luxurious resort with four furnished guesthouses and a restaurant called Uberto.
"Take part in activities like horseback riding, kayaking, and fishing on the Flint River, or just enjoy the quiet," Southern Living wrote. "Although the property itself is expansive, everything is tailored to a small number of guests, so it feels like a private escape."
Here are all of Southern Livings top places:
The Summit, in Terlingua, TX
The Hotel Chalet, in Chattanooga, TN
Star of the Seas Cruise, in Cape Canaveral, FL

Montage, Summit hotels bring new levels of luxury to Big Sky ski resort
Montana's Big Sky resort has long been known as a world-class ski destination. But it's also been known for its lack of upscale accommodations. That's changed. The Montage Big Sky hotel opened in late 2021 as the mountain's first five-star property, the same year the four-star Summit at Big Sky underwent a massive renovation. And this winter, One&Only will open its first U.S. property, at Big Sky's Moonlight Basin. And during a March visit during the spring break season, I was able to check out both the Montage and the Summit at Big Sky. Montage: New levels of luxe at Big Sky The $400 million, ski-in/ski-out Montage brought a new level of luxe to Big Sky. The 150-room property has its own chairlift onto the slopes, a snow-tubing run, indoor and outdoor pools, several dining venues and bars and an 11,000-square-foot Spa Montage. I found the Montage buzzing at night while offering a variety of ways to spend winter days. Alpenglow, the resort's primary bar, with floor-to-ceiling windows, gas fireplaces and named for the hue of Big Sky sunsets, hosts live music and draws a crowd of hotels guests and those vacationing nearby. A winter homeowner who came with her two dogs to meet friends said this type of lively and stylish space had been lacking in the area. Dining at the Montage The Montage's onsite restaurants were both packed. The spacious Italian eatery Cortina was busy with groups big and small, its open kitchen showcasing a variety of homemade pastas and open-hearth wood-fire oven. Cortina blends a rustic Italian menu with Western, mountain offerings like venison and dry-aged steak. A king room at the Montage Big Sky. Photo Credit: Courtesy of Montage Big Sky Families and groups of friends were especially drawn to Beartooth Pub & Rec, a restaurant with a game room and two-lane bowling alley. Despite having a waitlist most nights, the space almost goes unnoticed to casual visitors, in its tucked away location on the property's lower level. It's essential to make a reservation, both for a table and a lane. A jumbo soft pretzel and pizza are among the casual menu offerings, as are eight Montana beers on tap. Ski rentals and spa time The Montage has an onsite location of Compass Sports that offers ski and snowboard gear rentals. Its doors lead right to the short path to the Big Sky lift. I found the Montage the ideal spot to take a day off from skiing to enjoy a massage and take advantage of the steam room, indoor pool and hot tub at the Spa Montage. The remodeled Carabiner Lounge at the Summit at Big Sky has a fun, casual atmosphere with a gastropub menu. Photo Credit: Justine Jane @justinejanemt for Big Sky Resort A stay at the Summit The Summit hotel is situated in Big Sky's Mountain Village, the main base area with four hotels and a variety of restaurants, bars and shops. Room options at the Summit range from doubles to five-bedroom penthouses and various suites with full kitchens. Our one-bedroom suite had a gas fireplace and views of the Big Sky slopes from both the bedroom and living room, which had a very comfortable (and easy to pull down) Murphy bed. With two bathrooms and a full kitchen, the suite is perfect for those on extended stays who want to have breakfast in the suite before hitting the slopes. Being right at the base of Big Sky, it's also an easy stop for a lunch break. The Summit's 2021 upgrade included the renovation of all its 213 rooms and public spaces, giving it what the property describes as a lighter and sleeker "alpine luxe" aesthetic. Lounges, restaurants The remodeled Carabiner Lounge has a fun, casual atmosphere with a gastropub menu. It's popular spot for live music and apres ski gatherings; dinner reservations are needed. A recent addition to the Summit at Big Sky is the Refuge. Photo Credit: Justine Esslinger for Big Sky Resort Both Carabiner and the property's signature, seasonal restaurant, Peaks Chophouse & Wine Lounge, offer views of Big Sky's slopes, and their window seats are hard to snag. Peaks also underwent an overhaul and reopened in 2022. Its Wine Spectator award-winning wine list and impressive service are standouts here, as is the bison steak. Peaks is part of the Western Sustainability Exchange, sourcing ingredients from local farms that practice regenerative agriculture. The Summit's sanctuary: Refuge A recent, and big, addition to the Summit is the Refuge, which opened last year. The property calls it "a sanctuary designed to elevate your alpine experience." A midday visit enabled it to be just that: A relaxing spot to undergo a sequence of rituals: the Himalayan salt sauna, a cold shower and warm tiled benches. It's part of a complex with a huge, heated indoor/outdoor hot tub looking at the mountain. Around 4 p.m., Refuge became an apres-ski adventure for the scores of kids coming off the slopes and loving the challenge of who could stay the longest in the cold shower, knowing they would quickly be in one of three heated areas. For adults and kids alike, the huge outdoor hot tub was the place to be for a soak or a drink as the sun set and snowflakes swirled, portending a great ski day ahead.

I Went to My Local J.Crew for a New Vacation Wardrobe, and These 12 Styles Caught My Eye—Up to 82% Off
When it's time to refresh my travel wardrobe, I always head straight to the sale sections of my favorite retailers. If you shop smartly, you can build a stylish, high-quality fashion collection without ever splurging, and one of my favorite brands to snag massive discounts from is Right now, the brand is hosting a massive late summer sale, with travel clothes up to 82 percent off. I recently found myself enjoying a rare in-person shopping session at my local and I took note of the most gorgeous items. Now, I'm sharing the 12 best products that are worth buying, including linen pants, striped tees, fashionable sandals, and more, starting at just $14. I made a mistake by not snagging the yellow version of these linen pants when I found them in-store. They're now almost completely sold out, but I'm not missing the opportunity to buy this pink version while I can. They're a playful alternative to standard linen pants, and they'll pair nicely with simple tanks and tees. The drawstring waist and relaxed fit ensure you'll be comfortable all day long, and reviewers rave about their breathability. I've been eyeing this linen top for months, and now that it's marked down to just $36, I'm finally adding it to my cart. It's made of 100 percent linen, meaning it's airy enough for August's hottest days—but thanks to its long sleeves, you won't be shivering on cool nights. Plus, the V neckline adds a refined touch, so you can easily dress it up or down. has mastered elevated shoes that are unique yet on-trend, and these slide sandals are the perfect example. They feature gold hardware and thin, cotton-linen straps that are far more refined than typical double-strap sandals. Plus, the molded footbed ensures you'll be comfortable and pain-free all day long. The Breton striped T-shirt is a foolproof wardrobe staple that you can wear anywhere in the world. It's universally adored for its elevated appearance and versatility, and it looks great with jeans, linen shorts, and even a feminine skirt. This one is made of 100 percent cotton, so it's breezy enough for the summer, although you can wear it into the colder months, too. If you don't own a gauzy maxi dress, take this as a sign. This wardrobe essential is a whopping 82 percent off right now, and it's perfect for the remaining sunny days of summer. The crinkled fabric will never look wrinkled or frumpy after being unpacked, making this the perfect travel dress. Plus, I love that it can easily be dressed up or down for any itinerary. Satin pants are gaining popularity, and I'm obsessed with this colorful pair that's marked down to under $50. They're an ideal swap for linen pants, thanks to their comfortable elastic waistband, relaxed leg, and elevated look. Plus, since the satin fabric is slightly crinkled, they won't look frumpy out of your suitcase. I'm all about elevated basics, and this V-neck tank immediately caught my eye when I was shopping in-store. The cotton-blend fabric has a comfortable stretch and sleek appearance, and it's super breathable, too. I'd pair this top with a statement necklace for a vacation-worthy look. If I'm being honest, I'm not crazy about crossbody bags—but this leather option is a worthy exception. It has the look of a vintage bag, with a boxy shape, twist-lock closure, and gorgeous Italian leather. It's large enough to hold your daily essentials, but compact enough to carry with ease throughout your travels. It will elevate any casual daytime outfit, and it's dressy enough to be worn at night, too. This denim skort's dark wash and gold hardware set it apart from less elevated versions. I love how it's styled online, with a feminine white blouse, flat sandals, and a raffia tote that's perfect for beach days. It's simple, yet stylish, and it even has hidden pockets for small essentials. Crochet is one of my favorite summer trends, and I love this timeless high-neck tank that you can wear for countless summers ahead. It can easily be dressed up or down for any occasion, and you can also snag the white or tan options that are just as versatile. I couldn't help but snag a pair of these leather sandals when they had my size in store. They have a slight wedge that feels slightly dressy, so I plan on wearing them in place of heels to nice summer dinners. One reviewer called them 'comfortable even after hours of use,' making them ideal for events and elevated travel itineraries. No matter where in the world you're located, you can channel the vibe of a Greek summer with a beach-ready straw tote. This one can fit towels, sunscreen, and your latest beach read, and it has an effortlessly stylish look. Plus, the long shoulder straps make it easy to carry throughout your beachside destination. Carnival cruise passengers are fuming over another ‘money grab'
Carnival cruise passengers are fuming over another 'money grab' originally appeared on TravelHost. One of the biggest complaints Carnival passengers have about its recently announced Carnival Rewards loyalty program is that it appears to be designed to reward passengers for spending more than sailing. Replacing the cruise line's current VIFP Club loyalty program that rewards passengers simply for the amount of time they spend at sea, the new loyalty program rolling out in June 2026 will work more like airline rewards a first-of-its-kind move for the cruise industry, Carnival Rewards will link status to spending, rewarding passengers more for higher spending than for the time they spend sailing with the cruise line. Many passengers have called it a 'money grab,' insisting that Carnival has turned its back on true loyalty in favor of higher profits. Although Carnival had a valid reason for changing up its loyalty program, the cruise line seems to have gone too far by turning the program on its head. With the current VIFP Club program, Carnival learned the hard way that a program based solely on frequency isn't sustainable long term as they struggled to properly reward the huge number of passengers who earned top-tier status in recent years. Now, the cruise line is also learning that its passengers won't back down easily from a fight when they feel betrayed. The new loyalty program has made some passengers hyperaware of other new steps the cruise line is making to boost profits at the expense of passengers — like not allowing passengers to use their drink packages at its new exclusive destination in The Bahamas, Celebration cruise passengers question Celebration Key drink policy Some Carnival passengers booked on summer cruises to Celebration Key, which opens July 19, have recently expressed frustration that Carnival has decided not to allow passengers to use their Cheers and Bubbles beverage packages at Celebration Key. 'Please explain to everyone why the drink package isn't valid on the island? We've already paid for our drinks,' Andrew Wood commented on one of Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald's recent posts about Celebration Key. For many passengers, Celebration Key seems equivalent to Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, or Norwegian's Great Stirrup Cay, where drink packages are is using a technicality to justify charging extra for beverages on Celebration Key. 'This is not an island. It's part of the Grand Bahama and in the same as Grand Turk and Cozumel and other places that you go with our ships, the Cheers program is not part of those locations and it's not part of this one,' Heald explained. The brand ambassador suggested walking back to the ship to use your drink package as an alternative to buying drinks separately at Celebration passengers say Celebration Key beverage policy is another 'money grab' For Wood and other passengers, the island technicality isn't a good excuse. The fact that Carnival passengers can pay for drinks and other items with their onboard Sail & Sign accounts shows that Carnival could honor drink packages at Celebration Key, if the cruise line wanted to do so. 'It should have Cheers included. What a cop out explanation. If your Sail and Sign card is good there, the Cheers program should be good there too. More money grabbing like the new rewards (not) program. Cast the people aside who made Carnival the most popular cruise line,' David Tuthill many Carnival passengers, it looks like the cruise line has simply found a way to charge passengers again for drinks that they already paid for with the Cheers and Bubbles beverage packages. 'They are still selling alcohol in Carnival-owned venues. Carnival is receiving the money for the food and drinks purchased. None of the other cruise lines own the island their private area is on and they are all on a Bahamian owned island, yet the pre-paid drink packages work on the private 'island.' Carnival is simply double dipping,' Carol Lee added. (The Arena Group will earn a commission if you book a cruise.) , or email Amy Post at or call or text her at 386-383-2472.
