Anti-gang efforts in NEPA target youth

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — As gang-related crimes continue to be seen across Northeastern Pennsylvania, an effort is underway to try to prevent young people from joining gangs in the first place.
A Luzerne County man who had fought against gangs across the country and our region is taking the anti-gang effort to first through third-graders.

Jim Marinello authored a children's book that brings gang awareness to very young kids in a way they can relate to and understand.
We will take a look at the book, its message, and talk with the district attorneys from Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties, who talk about what they are seeing when it comes to young people joining gangs and the negative consequences of being in a gang.
