■ ■ ■ ■ ■ FOUR-PLAY: $200 BETTING STRATEGY
RACE 1: 2YO OPEN FILLIES HANDICAP (1100m)
$50 win SIGNATURE SCENT (2) at $2.20
Short enough but could not have been any more impressive on debut Bendigo. Jumped, led and bolted in by more than four lengths. The two-year-old Written Tycoon filly should get every opportunity to repeat the performance from barrier one on Saturday. The Ciaron Maher stable has a high opinion of Signature Scent, endorsed by the booking of jockey Craig Williams. GIN SPIRIT (4) has runs on the board and must be respected – already a Listed winner in Adelaide and runner-up in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes at Flemington.
RACE 3: 3YO OPEN FILLIES HANDICAP (1400m)
$50 win ILLYIVY (4) at $4.80/$1.65
Not much separated the talented filly, trained by Ray Besanko, and favourite XARPO (3) last start at Caulfield – less than half a length. Xarpo responded under pressure first-up but Illyivy hit the line strongly in a blanket finish. Illyivy has a 1kg advantage on Xarpo on Saturday at Caulfield. Mindful Xarpo has improvement to come, only second-up, but Illyivy has barely put a hoof wrong in her three starts for the campaign, with a win and two seconds.
RACE 7: BENCHMARK 100 HANDICAP (1400m)
$25 each-way YELLOW SAM (3) at $6/$2.10
Held over a week after being accepted for the Listed Winter Championship Series Final last Saturday at Flemington. Back to Caulfield where the Lindsey Smith-trained mare saluted last start – a fortnight ago – and while mindful she could be looking for a bit more ground the 1400m Benchmark 100 should be suitable. Apprentice jockey Luke Cartwright has won on the mare before. Yellow Sam has won and placed three times in five starts at Caulfield. Should get a lovely run from barrier five. — 7HorseRacing 🎠(@7horseracing) June 28, 2025
RACE 8: GROUP 3 SIR JOHN MONASH STAKES (1100m)
$25 each-way NEW YORK LUSTRE (10) at $9/$2.50
Could be vulnerable first-up against race-fit opposition but the Enver Jusufovic-trained mare has won five of eight starts and placed twice. Earned a shot in stakes grade and this race looks suitable. Sydney raider and favourite IN FLIGHT (6) a definite threat, along with lightly-raced progressive Victorian mare CLEO CAT (9). New York Lustre has drawn to get a nice run from the barrier and could be hard to chase down.
■ ■ ■ ■ ■ QUADZILLA
LEG 1 - RACE 6
KEEP YOUR COOL (6) found only one better last start, collared in the shadows of the post. Fitter third up and hard to hold out despite a wide draw. VAIL MOUNTAIN (10) hard fit and drawn well. FREAK OF NATURE (2) overraced first up and choked down potentially. Better than what he displayed last start and raced well at Caulfield previously. HE'LL RIP (13) savaged the line last start but just missed.
1ST LEG: 2, 6, 10, 13
LEG 2 - RACE 7
YELLOW SAM (3) finished over the top of her opposition last start at Caulfield and could do so again. Mindful she could be looking for 1600m now but race within her grasp. RUN HARRY RUN (5) will be up in the firing line and close to top fitness wise third-up. THE OPEN (9) has raced consistently all campaign without ultimate success. Gets his chance in a wide open race. Include EL SOLEADO (4) – went super first up at Flemington.
2ND LEG: 3, 4, 5, 9
LEG 3 - RACE 8
NEW YORK LUSTRE (10) has won five of eight starts and placed twice. Earned a crack in stakes' grade and while potentially vulnerable first-up should be around the mark. Progressive mare CLEO CAT (9) has race fitness and form around Caulfield. Respect Sydney raider and favourite IN FLIGHT (6) has the form and quality to win but best form on genuine rain-affected tracks. Getting around Caulfield can be a trick for Sydney horses also, so tread carefully. LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO (1) has won third-up previously and has the quality to win this.
3RD LEG: 1, 6, 9, 10
LEG 4 - RACE 9
AZTEC STATE (5) roared to an impressive victory first-up, after a long break, and while mindful of second-up syndrome the Lindsay Park-trained galloper has plenty of quality about him. Shame about the barrier although could be OK late in the day should the inside deteriorate. HARD TO CROSS (7) would appreciate any cut in the ground, while OUTTA COMPTON (12) is in a rich vein of form – chasing a hat-trick.
4TH LEG: 5, 7, 12
COST $100 FOR 52%
SKINNY QUADDIE
Start with FREAK OF NATURE (2), KEEP YOUR COOL (6) and HE'LL RIP (13). In the second leg take YELLOW SAM (3) and RUN HARRY RUN (5). Then in the third leg take LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO (1), IN FLIGHT (6) and NEW YORK LUSTRE (10). Come home with AZTEC STATE (5) and HARD TO CROSS (7).
FIRST LEG 2, 6, 13
SECOND LEG 3, 5
THIRD LEG 1, 6, 10
FOURTH LEG 5, 7
COST $100 FOR 277%

He's back to turf but will be fitter again for this. â â â â â VALUE BET EVERETT (Race 6 No. 8 – $13) Everett hasn't raced since December 2023 but her recent trials have been encouraging and she resumes in a winnable assignment at Bairnsdale. â â â â â **** LAY OF THE DAY **** TOP SECRET (Race 1 No. 6 – $3.90) Top Secret led and weakened to be beaten more than seven lengths first-up. Bathurst, Moruya Tips and Inside Mail for Monday from Shayne O'Cass
Form analyst Shayne O'Cass has provided his best bets and race-by-race analysis for the quaddie legs at Monday's NSW country meetings at Bathurst and Moruya. â– â– â– â– â– BATHURST TIPS BEST BET Runner-up at his only two starts for the new stable and ready to win. Scratched from the Kensington meeting last Wednesday with this race in mind. Has some talent. VALUE Local whose sole win was here and first-up as is the case in this. â– â– â– â– â– QUADDIE Race 4: 5 Race 5: 3,4,6 Race 6: 2,3,4,6 Race 7: 2,7,5,6 â– â– â– â– â– JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Grant Buckley has ridden 144 winners at Bathurst and has a good book on Monday. â– â– â– â– â– BATHURST INSIDE MAIL RACE 4 – Benchmark 58 Handicap (1300m) Green Pineapple 's lone win in 10 starts was here at Bathurst and first-up over this very same trip back when Roy McCabe had him. The horse's last four runs are for Gayna Williams who has found a suitable race at home to resume in. Thoughtful, who races in the same colours as his close relative Happy Clapper, has the job ahead with a wide draw and a big weight but if he brings his A-game, he's a chance. Slush Fund is ready for the 1400m and barrier 1 (hopefully) can't hurt. Bet: Green Pineapple each-way. Skiing is a former Ciaron Maher-trained galloper who has raced seven times for Robert Quinn inclusive of two fourths and two fifths, three of them at provincial level. In terms of the trip, he was in a strong Midway class race at Newcastle last start and ran fifth; very fit and drawn 3. The best Final Comment is better than most of his rivals. Needs it fairly dry. Outcast Girl has claims. Island Legend used to wear the Classique Legend colours of Bon Ho back in the early days. Fast forward to more recent times and this son of Capitalist calls Wyong home with Nikki Hodgson calling the shots. Resumes here off a lovely trial win with Winona Costin the key booking. Starane is a terrific little bush horse. This will be his 40th start and he's won five and placed 13 times – and always in good country class races. Navios was huge in his local debut. Pressnell has drawn the outside alley twice in six starts and hasn't fared a whole lot better here with 14 although he'll come in a few closer to the inside rail after scratchings. There is no doubt the talent is there, and everything says 1400m will be his go. Saint Philomena beat a decent field at Mudgee on July 6 to shed her maiden status. No reason why she can't climb another rung in this. Ditto that for Bonnie And Bruce. Bet: Pressnell to win. â– â– â– â– â– MORUYA TIPS BEST BET Race 4 No. 9: Beauty Dash Really is racing herself ever closer to a first win. NEXT BEST Race 5 No. 10: Miss Steffi Graff filly (of course) on debut off some lovely trials. VALUE So You Think, granddaughter of Let's Elope and she is on the improve. **** LAY OF THE DAY **** SPICE BABY (Race 5 No. 11) Has trialled well but has competition from the likes of 6, 10 and 11 others hence lay in a full field only. â– â– â– â– â– RACE 5 – Maiden Handicap (1020m) Miss Steffi is a daughter of Graff and was bought for $20,000 at the Magic Millions. her three trials can summed up this way; 'good, very good and 'not as bad as it looks'. Love the draw for her here and has an experienced jockey on. The astute Trevor Lobb paid $15,000 at the HTBA Yearling Sale for Molteuno knowing it was way too cheap for granddaughter of Dizelle. There was a lot of hidden merit in her debut. Bet: Miss Steffi to win, Molteuno each-way, exacta 10 to beat 6. Rippana will turn six on August but only has five starts on her CV for one reason or another. What is important is that she has won twice, finished third once together with a fourth and a fifth. That win came first-up last prep and she thrashed them too. This will be Selhurst Park 's 14th run at the track and trip. He has one win and five placings. Watch him charging home late as always. Bet: Rippana to win, exacta 8 to beat 10, box trifecta 1,4,8,10, Daily Double 1st Leg 8, 2nd Leg 1. Gooloo Bucky put the writing on the wall first-up that a win was close at hand and sure enough he came back to Moruya two weeks later and won by nearly three lengths in that 1200m maiden. Bad alley this time but she has the confidence up. Teepee Princess is an American Pharoah out of a Savabeel, so with breeding like that, it only enhances her debut win over 1200m no less. Lady Revolution and Dame Annie have claims. Gorush Lightning finished an honourable third in quite a respectable Benchmark 66 here last start. That was his 80th career start and his 29th run at home here at Moruya. In that time, he has won six times and placed on 10 other occasions so he is very reliable really. His danger could come from within, that is his stablemate Peruno who has a lot of ticker and a better draw than his Michael Gatty-trained rival on Monday. is so, so consistent.

End of an era for Godolphin in Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield
Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. A few tears might be shed when an era ends after Saturday's Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield. The race will feature the last runners prepared from Godolphin's Crown Lodge operation at Flemington and trainer James Cummings' last Stakes runners for the operation. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum-owned Godolphin operation opted to cease employing a private trainer when James Cummings decided to quit the role to take up a Hong Kong training contract. Godolphin will disperse its team into stables including the Ciaron Maher, Ben, Will and JD Hayes and Chris Waller camps, along with the Anthony and Sam Freedman stable, which has prepared horses for Godolphin for some years. Godolphin's Flemington operation has saddled the winners of 101 stakes races, including 19 at Group 1 level. Cox Plate winner Anamoe, dual Australian Cup winner Cascadian and the 2025 All-Star Mile winner Tom Kitten are among the top level winners to spend their time in Melbourne at the 'blue army's' Flemington base. Anamoe provided James Cummings with three of his 19 Group 1 wins for Godolphin's Melbourne stable. Picture: Getty Images. Godolphin's Melbourne representative Nacim Dilmi said the stable will have three runners in its bid for a third Bletchingly Stakes after winning the feature sprint with Viridine in 2020 and Ingratiating in 2023. 'It's going to be a sad day for us as they will be our last runners,' Dilmi said. 'We'll run Inhibitions, Kin and Kallos and we're hoping they can end things with a great result.' Both Inhibitions and Kallos will have their second-up runs in the Bletchingly Stakes while Kin campaigned in Queensland before finishing fifth in the Sir John Monash Stakes at her last outing. 'Inhibitions ran well first-up and she has done well since but, without seeing the weather forecast, she'd like some juice in the track,' Dilmi said. 'Kin likes racing at Caulfield and did a good job in the Monash, she won't be far away. 'I thought Kallos ran all right first-up but he'll be a lot better for the first-up run and can run a better race.' Dilmi said the Flemington team's numbers had dwindled to 10 in recent weeks as horses were transferred to other stables. However, he said the staff had been busy preparing Crown Lodge for its next tenant. 'We're cleaning up the stables and packing up all the gear, keeping the staff busy,' Dilmi said. 'We started quite a while ago, every time the horses departed, so there's not too much to do at the end. 'Chris Waller is taking over Carbine Lodge so we want to give him the stable in the best condition.' Dilmi said Cummings would head to Melbourne on Thursday for a celebratory drink with staff before the final acts of his Victorian stable on Saturday. 'It will be a good send-off. There's a lot to celebrate,' Dilmi said. 'It will be quite emotional next Saturday, for sure. 'The horses will come back to Flemington after the race and we'll look at them and see how they pull up but on Monday or Tuesday, they'll be going.'
