Malobika Banerji, senior director of content for Southeast Asia at Netflix, unveiled first looks at 'The Elixir' from Indonesia and 'Ziam' from Thailand, both slated for 2025 releases.

'The Elixir,' directed by acclaimed Indonesian horror auteur Kimo Stamboel, centers on a fractured family fighting to escape a zombie outbreak triggered by a traditional Javanese herbal elixir. The film stars Mikha Tambayong, Eva Celia, and Donny Damara, with Stamboel bringing his signature immaculate visual style and penchant for gore to the project.
Stamboel comes with horror credentials, including his work as part of The Mo Brothers directing duo and his recent box office success 'Dancing Village: The Curse Begins,' which attracted over four million theatrical viewers.
For 'Ziam,' Netflix has partnered with Thai director Kulp 'Tent' Kaljareuk, whose series 'Master of the House' recently became the first Thai series to hit #1 on Netflix's Global Top 10 TV Non-English list. 'Ziam' is set in a near-future Thailand ravaged by environmental collapse and features a former Muay Thai fighter battling zombies to save his girlfriend.
The production marks Netflix's first use of 3D In-Camera VFX technology for Southeast Asian content, allowing cast and crew to interact with the post-apocalyptic world in real-time rather than against green screens.
'Horror is a proven audience favourite in Thailand and Indonesia. But when it comes to zombie horror, demand has been met by Korean, English, and foreign-language titles,' Banerji noted during the presentation. 'With these two films, we wanted to take the thrill of zombies and fuse it with local storytelling, culture, and authenticity.'
These zombie projects follow Netflix's recent Southeast Asian successes, including Indonesia's female-led action film 'The Shadow Strays,' Thailand's 'Hunger' which topped global charts, and the Philippines' post-apocalyptic drama 'Outside.'
'Our local zombie stories feel authentic, immersive, and uniquely ours,' Banerji said. 'And we can't wait for audiences to experience them.'

Instant noodle giant Nongshim to launch 'KPop Demon Hunters' products
SEOUL, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Nongshim, South Korea's largest instant noodle maker, will release a line of products featuring characters from the Netflix hit animated movie KPop Demon Hunters later this month. Packaging for the company's popular Shin Ramyun instant noodles and Shrimp Crackers snacks will showcase images of characters from the film, including Rumi, Zoey, Saja Boys and Derpy the tiger, the company said Wednesday. Nongshim will also launch a new Shin Toomba Sauce and special cup noodles modeled after the snacks eaten by the fictional K-pop group Huntrix in the movie. The company will promote the collaboration through a series of global events, including social media campaigns, digital content and offline pop-ups. "KPop Demon Hunters' realistic depiction of various Korean cultures, including K-Pop and K-Food, went viral and is creating a global fandom," the company said in a statement. "The frequent appearance of ramyun, a quintessentially Korean food, naturally drew attention to Nongshim." The animated film, which centers on a K-pop trio who secretly battle demons, has been a massive hit for Netflix since its release in June. As of last week, it has become the second-most-watched film of all time on the streaming service, with more than 210 million views. The Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack has also crossed over onto the global music charts, with the single "Golden" by Huntrix topping the Billboard Hot 100 list for the week of Aug. 16. Nongshim said that the partnership was sparked by the film's realistic depiction of Korean ramyun and snacks, which many fans said resembled the company's products. "This collaboration was possible thanks to fans who identified our products in Kpop Demon Hunters and shared their excitement," a spokesperson said. "Just as KPop Demon Hunters introduced K-culture to the world, we will also work to genuinely inform global consumers of the taste and value of K-snacks." The limited-edition products will be available in South Korea and major markets across North America, Europe, Oceania and Southeast Asia.

Netflix top 10 most-watched movies of all time — 3 best films to stream and full list
Netflix is no slouch in the movie department. Even if you primarily use Netflix (or any of the best streaming services) to rewatch your favorite sitcom, you surely know that the streaming giant supplements its library with a steady stream of original movies and shows. Over the years, Netflix has spent a ton of money bringing us exclusive, big-budget blockbusters, acclaimed titles from notable directors, awards contenders and countless genre flicks. Whether you're in the mood for action, chills, drama, swoonworthy romance, or anything else, there's probably a Netflix Original movie that fits the bill. What you may not know, however, is which of those original movies has managed to grab the viewing public's attention the most. Over on Tudum, Netflix hosts a chart displaying its top 10 most-watched movies of all time, ranked by the total number of views. If you've ever been curious about what the most-watched Netflix movies of all time are, I've listed the top 10 contenders from that list below. And seeing as some of the movies on that list aren't exactly the best that Netflix has to offer, I've highlighted the three movies from that list that I'd deem most worthy of a spot on your Netflix watchlist. Below, you can find the current list of Netflix's top 10 most-watched movies of all time, globally. This data comes directly from Netflix, and the streamer notes that these rankings are based on total views received within the first 91 days of a given movie's release. Last Christmas, Netflix gifted us "Carry-On," a "Die Hard"-style holiday thriller that put "Kingsman" star Taron Egerton through the wringer as TSA Agent, Ethan Kopek. On Christmas Eve, Ethan gets the chance to try and prove himself worthy of a promotion, but finds himself tangling with a menacing stranger (Jason Bateman) who's trying to force him to slip a dangerous package onto a packed flight. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Via an earpiece, the Traveler offers Ethan an ultimatum: comply with his instructions and don't raise the alarm, or he'll go after Ethan's pregnant girlfriend, Nora (Sofia Carson). What follows is a gripping cat-and-mouse game wherein Ethan tries to outwit and unmask the mystery caller whilst saving the lives of everyone on board the targeted flight. Rotten Tomatoes score: 88%Watch "Carry-On" on Netflix now "KPop Demon Hunters" is, indisputably, a Netflix phenomenon. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans' animated musical action-fantasy dropped back in June 2025. Within two months, it had officially become the streamer's second most-watched movie, ever, earned a limited-time theatrical release, generated tons of buzz online, and it currently has fans clamoring for "KPop Demon Hunters 2." If you've already seen it, you'll know why "KPop Demon Hunters" belongs on this list, though: it's arguably the easiest movie to recommend of the bunch. This is a visual feast of a film, a dynamic, colorful adventure boasting characters you'll care about, impressive action setpieces, and a killer soundtrack. Believe the hype: "KPop Demon Hunters" is great fun. Rotten Tomatoes score: 97%Watch "KPop Demon Hunters" on Netflix now Even if it wasn't the biggest hit with Netflix subscribers, I'd be happy to recommend that would-be streamers give "Leave the World Behind" a shot. Sam Esmail's apocalyptic thriller sees Amanda (Julia Roberts), Clay (Ethan Hawke) whisk their two kids away on a luxurious weekend family getaway. Problems arise when two strangers show up in the night, bringing news of an ongoing cyberattack and claiming they own the house the family has rented. Forced to stay together, tensions rise as the two families are forced to wait out the event. It's talky, tense, impressively shot, and boasts some compelling casting and sufficient thrills, and thus "Leave the World Behind" remains a cut above some of the other, lesser features on Netflix's all-time most-watched list. Rotten Tomatoes score: 73%Watch "Leave The World Behind" on Netflix now If none of Netflix's most-watched movies have piqued your interest, be sure to check out our round-up of all the best movies on Netflix for tons more streaming suggestions worth adding to your watchlist.
