‘Forever 14' Loved ones raise £4,000 for family of Celtic fan schoolboy killed in Ayrshire crash
Aiden McLuckie was a pedestrian on the bridge over Cessnock Water on the A76 near Hurlford when he was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa at around 5.10pm on Wednesday, July 16. A fundraiser to help the family of a 14-year-old boy who died in a horror crash on a bridge in Ayrshire has raised nearly £4,000 in less than 24 hours. Aiden McLuckie was a pedestrian on the bridge over Cessnock Water on the A76 near Hurlford when he was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa at around 5.10pm on Wednesday, July 16. Emergency crews rushed to the incident but Celtic fan Aiden was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Locals have now rallied around Aiden's heartbroken family to help them with unexpected funeral costs. Ayrshire business Dash Claims donated £500 to the cause and encouraged others to help. They wrote: "No young family should ever have to go through this heartbreak!" While money from The Thack Inn's quiz night has also been donated from Ayrshire DJs. Yvonne Devlin who started the fundraiser wrote: "We are heartbroken by the sudden passing of Aiden, following the tragic incident that happened yesterday. "David, Olivia and family have been absolutely devastated by this event and are looking for a wee bit support anything big or small is appreciated, thanks. Forever 14. R.I.P wee man." Aiden's step-mum Olivia McLuckie broke the news of his passing to the local community in a heart-wrenching post on social media on Thursday. She said: "I can't believe I'm actually have to write this but we just wanted to let people know that our boy Aiden sadly passed away last night due to tragic accident. "He will be sorely missed. Our family is broken right now and would like some time to process this." The popular teenager was understood to have spent the day out playing football with pals before the tragedy unfolded. Tributes have poured out to teen who has been described as a "lovely boy". Minty Sloan said: "Absolutely heartbreaking, thoughts with the whole family, RIP aiden #forever14 wee man." Sleep tight Aiden, God bless you." Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing. The male driver of the car, a Vauxhall Corsa, and his two passengers were checked over by paramedics. Sergeant Brian Simpson from Road Policing said: 'Our thoughts remain with Aiden's family at this extremely difficult time, and we are providing them with specialist support as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances. 'I would again appeal to anyone with information to come forward. We are keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and ask if anyone has dash-cam footage to please contact us.' Now the club has notified it's members that the unruly star is banned. Golf Digest obtained a copy of the letter sent by club president John Lynch which read: 'Several of you have inquired about the situation involving Wyndham Clark and the steps being taken in response to his recent behavior. Following multiple discussions with the USGA and the OCC Board, a decision has been made that Mr. Clark will no longer be permitted on OCC property. 'This decision will remain in effect unless formally reconsidered and approved by the Board. 'Reinstatement would be contingent upon Mr. Clark fulfilling a number of specific conditions, including full repayment for damages, a meaningful contribution to a charity of the Board's choosing, and the successful completion of counseling and/or anger management sessions. 'Thank you for your understanding and continued support.' Clark, who will tee it up at Royal Portrush, made a weak apology in the immediate aftermath, but was more forthcoming when confronted at last weekend's Scottish Open. He said: 'Yeah, I mean, I made a mistake in a moment of rage with, you know, a bad year and everything coming together and it just was more than anything a good wake-up call for me to say: Hey, you know what, let's get back on track and things aren't that bad. 'I live a great life and I'm not that far off from playing good golf, so I feel like I've turned a page and we're now maybe on the right track of playing some good golf.' It was pointed out that fire and passion can still be key to a golfer's success if channeled correctly and he continued: 'Oh, 100 per cent. 'A lot of guys have a lot of passion out there and I'm definitely one of them, so I'm not going to ever take that away. Just maybe not channelling it into lockers is probably better.' Warning issued following serious cluster of near-fatal overdoses
The Scottish Families Inverclyde Family Support Service said the incidents "appear to involve drugs sold as heroin" but warned that contamination with other substances is suspected. They are urging anyone who uses drugs or knows someone who does to collect a naloxone kit, which can reverse the effects of an overdose, from a local pharmacy needle exchange or drug service. "There are supports available - naloxone can also be accessed online for free through ourselves at Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs free click & deliver Naloxone Service." People are also being warned that using more than one drug will increase their risk and to not use drugs alone. They are advising people to ensure someone is with them until the effects of the drugs wear off.
