Former Longhorn guard finds a new home

Former Longhorn guard finds a new home Chris Johnson joins UCF Knights Former Longhorn Chris Johnson has found a new home after entering the transfer portal. Johnson played with the Longhorns during the 2023-24 season before leaving for the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. His next stop will be in Florida to play for the UCF Knights. In his only season with the Longhorns, Johnson appeared in 17 games, averaging just 1.1 points. He could not crack the starting lineup and primarily played a reserve role. During his time as a Lumberjack, Johnson took advantage of a rise in playing time, averaging 10.7 points and four rebounds a game. Although Johnson bounced around during college, he was a highly regarded recruit before joining the Longhorns. He was a four-star guard in the 2023 class out of Montverde Academy. During his time with Montverde, the Texas native played alongside Cooper Flagg, Asa Newell, Derik Queen, and Liam McNeeley. During his time With Stephen F. Austin this past season, Johnson's best game came against the University of Dallas in November. He scored a career-high 17 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists. The former Longhorn also shined against a Drake Bulldogs team that finished with a 31-4 record and made it to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. Johnson is joining a Knights team that finished the 2023-2024 campaign with a 20-17 record. They hope that his experience will help them build on their success. For Johnson, it is a chance for him to shine in a new system and help lead a program with high expectations.

The Racers are just the fourth No. 4 seed ever to reach the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, and have become a darling for the nation in the process. It starts with their coach, Skirka. Here's what you need to know about the man leading the Racers: Who is Dan Skirka? Skirka is in his seventh year as the Racers' head coach. Outside of a losing record in his first season, Skirka has led Murray State to a winning season each year. In 2009, he was hired by Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, as an assistant coach. Then, in 2010, Murray State brought him on as an assistant coach under Rob McDonald. He initially coached first base before moving on to work with the outfielders and hitters as the third base coach. He left the program to become the recruiting coordinator for Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee, in 2015. Walters reached the NJCAA World Series championship game in 2018 and finished with a record of 60-8. After Murray State fired Kevin Moulder following four straight losing seasons, the program hired Skirka on July 2, 2018.

Former USC star pitcher Caden Aoki commits to Georgia

Former USC star pitcher Caden Aoki commits to Georgia Last week, USC baseball ace Caden Aoki made headlines when he surprisingly announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. On Monday, Aoki made his new home official: He will play for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2026. After spending his freshman year at Notre Dame in 2022, Aoki transferred to USC prior to the 2023 season. He emerged as the Trojans' top starting pitcher over the better part of the past three seasons. In 2025, he went 6-4 with a 3.99 ERA. However, it was the NCAA Tournament where Aoki forever etched himself into Trojans lore. In USC's tournament opener against TCU, Aoki allowed just one run over eight innings, throwing 114 pitches. For his performance, he was named to the all-Corvallis Regional team. Despite being a senior this past season, Aoki was granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA. However, it appears he will spend that year in Athens, Georgia, rather than in Los Angeles. USC's lacked significant pitching depth behind Aoki in 2025. The Trojans will need to improve on that front next year if they want to have any chance of making it further in the postseason.
