Major league could return in EA FC 26 as Konami remove 14 teams from eFootball

A league that hasn't featured in FIFA or EA Sports FC since FIFA 22 could be destined for a return to EA Sports' game series in EA FC 26. After a four-year hiatus due to an exclusive licensing agreement with Konami, a fan-favourite league could be usable again in EA FC 26. As we enter the summer months, all attention is starting to turn towards the next instalment of the EA Sports FC series, with EA Sports set to release its latest title, EA FC 26, later this year. EA FC 25 is still in full swing with the highly anticipated Shapeshifters promo going live in Ultimate Team soon, but it's hard not to turn our heads towards EA FC 26, with some early leaks and rumours already starting to circulate. ‌ A host of EA FC 26 details, including an earlier release date, were seemingly leaked in April, while we've also seen an image of the rumoured EA FC 26 logo circulating on social media in recent weeks. But now, Konami has confirmed that one of its exclusively licensed leagues will be removed from eFootball, opening up the pathway for a new league to be added to EA FC 26. ‌ New league in line for EA FC 26 return After joining forces with Konami in 2022, the top division of Mexican football, Liga MX, is no longer exclusively licensed to eFootball, with the Japanese company confirming in a recent update that the league, along with all of its teams, will be removed from the game. This is the full list of teams from Liga MX that will be removed from eFootball this month: Ciudad de Mexico AB Pachuca de Soto BA Puebla AB Toluca de Lerdo RB Jalisco RN Monterrey AB Comarca Lagunera VB Tijuana RN Leon de los Aldamas VB Queretaro BA Aguascalientes RB Ciudad Juarez VN San Luis Potosi RB Mazatlan MN Liga MX last featured in FIFA 22, with the league being removed in FIFA 23 due to its agreement with Konami. There have been some cult-hero Ultimate Team items in the past from Liga MX that plenty of Ultimate Team players would've used and loved, including TOTS Andre-Pierre Gignac in FIFA 19, Silver star Luis Perea in FIFA 14, FUT Birthday Keisuke Honda in FIFA 18, and the late Christian Benitez in FIFA 12. Right now, there are a few names you'll likely recognise from Liga MX that will be set for an Ultimate Team return if it is added for EA FC 26, including Georgios Giakoumakis, Lucas Ocampos, Sergio Canales, Salomon Rondon, Jonathan Dos Santos, and Sergio Ramos. And of course, who can forget the Pumas UNAM kits that were like gold dust in the early days of Ultimate Team? If Liga MX does return, it will be a fantastic addition.

Former Tottenham star, 36, 'set for shock move to Barcelona' after surprise comeback season wowed boss Hansi Flick

Former Tottenham winger Ivan Perisic could reportedly complete a shock move to Barcelona this summer. The Catalan club are looking to bring in attacking reinforcements after a hugely succesful season where they beat Real Madrid to LaLiga and the Copa del Rey and have been linked with Liverpool striker Luis Diaz. They are also said to be looking at scooping 36-year-old former Spurs, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan star Perisic, who is available as a free agent. Hansi Flick, who managed the Croat as Bayern completed the treble during the 2019/20 season, is believed to be keen on a reunion, as it sporting director Deco, according to Mundo Deportivo. Perisic scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions last season as PSV Eindhoven won the Eredivisie for the second consecutive season. Despite impressing in the Netherlands, he will leave as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the month. The winger spent two years at Spurs after being signed by Antonio Conte in 2022 but left for his academy side Hadjuk Split on a permanent basis last summer. But after completing the switch he only featured in a single league game before moving to the Netherlands. Perisic has made a remarkable 144 international appearances for Croatia, netting 36 times. He featured in their World Cup qualifier over Czech Republic on Tuesday, scoring in an emphatic 5-1 win. Meanwhile, Barcelona are readying themselves to go 'all out' to sign Liverpool's Diaz during the summer, according to reports. The winger's future is uncertain as he enters the final two years of his deal and Mail Sport understands he is due to discuss the situation with club chiefs. Diaz has enjoyed a successful time at Anfield since joining from Porto midway through the 2021-22 season, winning five trophies and scoring 41 goals. Barca are looking to bolster their attack after beating Real Madrid to the LaLiga title last season Liverpool rejected an approach from Barca and are seemingly happy to let him run his contract down and leave on a free, The Athletic has reported. However, new reports from Spain now claim that the Catalan giants will push forward for a move this summer as they look to bolster their attacking depth. According to Mundo Deportivo, both Diaz and Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams have caught the attention of Hansi Flick's side as they head into the window but, due to the latter's immense contract at his current club, Diaz is the more viable option.

Mason Greenwood set for Man Utd reunion with star Old Trafford boss 'humiliated'

Mason Greenwood will be reunited with his fellow former Manchester United academy graduate team-mate Angel Gomes, who has secured a move to Ligue 1 giants Marseille Mason Greenwood will play alongside former Manchester United team-mate Angel Gomes next season at Marseille. They will reunite in France five years after Gomes left the Red Devils, having once been left humiliated by former United manager Jose Mourinho. Marseille confirmed this week that they have reached an agreement in principle to sign England international Gomes. The Ligue 1 runners-up, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, beat a host of clubs to his signature, with the 24-year-old reportedly signing a three-year deal at the Orange Velodrome. RMC Sport previously reported that the United academy graduate was convinced by De Zerbi's style of play and the opportunity to compete in the Champions League. Gomes had announced he would be leaving Lille once his contract expired this summer. The midfielder made the move to Lille at the end of his United contract in the summer of 2020, having been tipped for great things at Old Trafford after signing for the club back in 2006. The England U21s European Championship winner was handed his debut aged just 16 by Mourinho on the final day of the 2016/17 season, making him United's youngest ever Premier League player. But despite the trust placed in him by the current Fenerbahce boss, a 17-year-old Gomes was once brought to the brink of tears as a result of Mourinho criticising his performance in a reserve team match in front of the first team. He told the Athletic:"I played a game for the reserves and he watched — he didn't think I played good enough. Two days later, the first team had a game, and he took me with the team. At the pre-match, in front of everybody, he let me know about it." Expanding on the story in an interview with The Times, Gomes explained: "At the time I was thinking, 'Why has he done that in front of everyone? Could he not have pulled me to the side?' "A few of the players came up to me and said, 'He just wants a reaction from you, don't let it faze you', but in that moment, I didn't want to hear anything. 'I rushed to my room and rang my dad and my brother. There's not much they could say to me really. I was almost crying. I was really young. "It wasn't until I was older that I realised, with Mourinho, he's always looking at ways to get more out of you. I think him doing that in front of everyone showed he valued me as a player. I probably needed it." He added: "It's all mental toughness. What I came to learn about Jose is he always wants you to do better. He is almost like prodding you, 'Come on, show me a bit more. Everyone's told me how good you are, but I want to see it.'" Despite the psychological blow at the time, Gomes wishes he had been mature enough to embrace Mourinho's management style, saying: "It wasn't until I left and I see Jose winning trophies that I think, 'Ah, I understand you. And if only I had understood you more, I would have been able to appreciate my time more with you'. But no, in the midst of little b*********s, [he was] an amazing guy." Gomes' departure came during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure, following Mourinho's sacking two years prior in 2018. His game time was extremely limited under Solskjaer while the then-promising Greenwood was enjoying his first-team breakthrough in the 2019/20 season. After playing a total of 320 minutes for United, Gomes left as a free agent, capping off the "most difficult period" of his career. Despite spending the first year of his five-year Lille stint at Portuguese club Boavista, the move to Ligue 1 served to kickstart his career. He made 134 appearances in all competitions for Lille, including 20 this season as they finished fifth in the league. He also impressed in a Three Lions shirt last year after receiving his first four caps under interim boss Lee Carsley. However, Gomes has not yet featured under new manager Thomas Tuchel.
