Marseille reach agreement for Aubameyang return
The Gabonese striker moved from Marseille to Al-Qadsiah last summer on a two-year deal but terminated his contract with the Saudi Pro League club after just one season.
Premier League clubs and Saudi giants Al Ettifaq came forward with a lucrative proposal, but the former Arsenal star had his heart set on a return to the Ligue 1 giants.
The 36-year-old will pen a two-year contract until 2027 with Les Minots.
Aubameyang has shown that he is ageing like a fine wine after a prolific campaign in Saudi Arabia last season.
He netted 21 goals and three assists in all competitions, including the strike in the defeat in the King's Cup final against Al Ettifaq.
Even in the 2023/24 season, Aubameyang was at the peak of his powers, netting 30 goals and 11 assists as well as finishing as the Europa League's top scorer.
The former Barcelona star will look to replicate his rich vein of form for Roberto De Zerbi's side this season, where they will compete in the Champions League.
Aubameyang will compete with talented Algerian Amine Gouiri for the centre-forward role at Marseille.
Les Phoceens are also actively scouring the market for a winger, and Juventus' Timothy Weah is at the top of their wishlist.
The former Lille star is not in Juve's plans and has reportedly agreed personal terms over a move to Marseille.
De Zerbi's side are also monitoring Feyenoord's Igor Paixao and Lyon's Malick Fofana.

(AP) — Detroit Lions defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike is out for the season after having knee surgery, a setback for a franchise that was counting on him to fill in for Alim McNeill. Lions coach Dan Campbell made the announcement on Sunday morning, just before his team had the NFL's first training camp practice of the year. The 27-year-old Onwuzurike started in a career-high 11 games last season, including Detroit's loss to Washington in the divisional round. His playing time increased when McNeill had a season-ending knee injury in December. McNeill, who signed a $97 million, four-year contract extension last October, is out indefinitely. Onwuzurike's injury gives rookie defensive tackle Tyleik Williams a chance to play a significant role when the two-time defending NFC North champions kick off the season Sept. 7 at Green Bay. Detroit drafted the former Ohio State standout with the 28th pick overall in the NFL draft. The 6-foot-3, 334-pound Williams started 13 games for the national champion Buckeyes and had 46 tackles, including eight for losses and 2 1/2 sacks. Real Madrid retain interest in Premier League defender
There has been a lot of noise surrounding Real Madrid's interest in Ibrahima Konate lately. The Frenchman is currently in the final year of his contract at Liverpool, with multiple reports suggesting that he will join Real Madrid as a free agent next summer. Real Madrid are interested in signing Konate this summer as well, but Liverpool are holding out for a hefty price tag for the French international. However, Konate is not the only Premier League centre-back Real Madrid are keeping an eye on. Real Madrid remain interested in Saliba According to L'Equipe, Real Madrid are also monitoring the progress of William Saliba, who had emerged as the club's top defensive target earlier in the summer. Real Madrid, in fact, were determined to sign Saliba as part of their plans to shore up their defensive unit. However, he ended up becoming too expensive for the club. Former NFLPA executive committee member says JC Tretter "seems just as culpable" as Lloyd Howell
There's a storm raging within the NFL Players Association, and at times it feels as if we're in the eye of it. The vast majority of texts and calls to the PFT hotline since the resignation of NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell relate to the next steps for the union. There's plenty of noise, some of which has been posted here — and plenty of which (at least for now) has not been. Our goal isn't to tee up names or play the Game of Thrones game. It's to make sure the players understand what's happening and, ideally, that they reclaim control of their union. Because it seems that both the NFL and NFLPA non-player leadership have weaponized player apathy, any sign that the players are waking up and taking charge is significant. Here's something that has happened within the past day. Sam Acho — a former member of the NFLPA executive committee — has sounded the alarm via Twitter. "Players who are voting," Acho said, "I understand you've been kept out of the loop. Listen to [the Pablo Torre Finds Out] podcast or read the article by [Kalyn Kahler of JC Tretter seems just as culpable (if not more) than Lloyd Howell." The Acho tweet tags five current members of the board of player representatives: Zaven Collins, Von Miller, Shelby Harris, Cole Kmet, and Zaire Franklin. Acho's plea comes at a time when a text message critical of Tretter has been making the rounds. A longer document entitled "Risk Assessment of NFLPA Interim Executive Director Candidates" (which focuses only on Tretter) has been circulating, along with rumors that Tretter could be pushing for current NFL Players Inc. president Matt Curtin to become the interim executive director, since Curtin would be likely to keep Tretter in position as chief strategy officer. Meanwhile, the NFLPA has remained largely silent. There's been nothing from NFLPA president Jaylen Reeves-Maybin. Nothing from Tretter. The executive committee's only statement came a week ago, when it vowed to not rush to judgment on Howell. It's therefore very noteworthy that a former member of the executive committee has decided to publicly share his opinions in a public forum, with five members of the board of players representatives specifically mentioned.
