RSS reshuffles over 60 dist pracharaks in UP
Sources said the changes were made recently to reinvigorate the organisational machinery while ensuring better and more efficient coordination at the ground level. District pracharaks are pivotal in mobilising cadres and aligning ideological outreach at the grassroots.
RSS sources said the duty areas of at least 10 to 15 pracharaks have been changed in every prant. The Sangh recognises six prants – west UP (including Uttarakhand), Braj, Awadh, Goraksh, Kashi and Bundelkhand.
A senior RSS functionary in Awadh Prant said the changes were part of a routine process which the Sangh undertakes to ramp up efficiency of its functionaries. This year, it is important in the wake of Sangh's centenary year celebrations.
He, however, did not rule out the possibility of the exercise being linked to forthcoming electoral battles in Uttar Pradesh. "The ideological alignment of RSS and BJP happens ahead of any electoral contest," the RSS functionary said.

Analysts said the RSS and BJP are trying to strengthen their presence in UP which contributes the highest number of Lok Sabha seats (80) and holds a central place in parties' electoral ambitions.
RSS's organisational activity, sources said, has become significant in UP after 2024 LS elections, in which BJP faced a setback with its tally plummeting to 33 from 62 in 2019. Sources said that the Sangh sought to keep a close watch on BJP's poll activity and lend adequate support as and when needed.
RSS's organisational network, experts said, could also help the BJP overcome electoral challenges posed by the Samajwadi Party and Congress. Analysts said Sangh's nationalist narrative may particularly arm the BJP to counter the opposition's caste card – primarily the Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak (PDA) narrative, which is said to have dented the BJP in 2024.
The RSS rejig also reflects on the performance evaluations and response to changing ground realities.
Experts said that UP's political landscape is fluid, with growing caste-based and regional assertiveness of different political groups. Deploying pracharaks who understand these nuances may help the RSS regain lost ground or consolidate gains.
Replacing older or underperforming functionaries with younger, more dynamic workers is consistent with RSS's organised efforts to modernise operations and connect with newer generations. It also prepares the cadre to be more tech-savvy and communication-efficient in an era of digital outreach.

Gehlot likens Rahul Gandhi to Jyotiba Phule
Jaipur: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot , speaking at the Congress's OBC wing conference here on Saturday, highlighted Rahul Gandhi 's commitment to fighting for OBC rights, comparing him to social reformer Jyotiba Phule. Gehlot said he sees Gandhi as a reformer and saint. Gehlot suggested that many OBC community members were unaware of Gandhi's efforts on their behalf. Challenging Prime Minister Modi's mandate, Gehlot pointed out that 69% of the voters had not supported the current govt. He praised Gandhi's compassionate nature and inclusive vision, predicting that the Congressman might "become a saint" due to his empathy for the poor. The former CM emphasised that India's global leadership aspirations could only be realised through unity across castes and religions, aligning with Gandhi's vision for the nation. Addressing the recent announcement of a caste census, Gehlot credited Gandhi's social justice campaign for forcing the Union govt's hand. However, he expressed scepticism about BJP's commitment, suggesting the announcement might be politically motivated due to upcoming Bihar elections. In a notable statement about religious politics, Gehlot rejected BJP's claimed monopoly over Lord Ram. "Our Ram is 'Maryada Purushottam' Ram," he declared, citing Congressmen with "Ram" in their names while accusing BJP of misusing religion for political gains.

Cong may announce district prez appointments by month-end
Bhopal: The AICC is likely to clear the list of district presidents for the state by the end of the month. Sources in the state Congress office said the final discussions were between PCC chief Jitu Patwari, AICC general secretary for Madhya Pradesh affairs Harish Chaudhary and national party organisational general secretary KC Venugopal. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Reports submitted by the central observers and state observers are being matched to select the final names for 60 organisational district presidents for Madhya Pradesh," a source said. Meanwhile, Patwari, LOP Umang Singhar and a few more senior functionaries from the state have visited New Delhi to speak to central leaders on their choice of district presidents. However, the AICC officially asked state leaders not to come to Delhi. Instead, they have been asked to send letters if they have suggestions. So far, district president appointments were influenced by recommendations of senior leaders. But on June 3, Lok Sabha LOP Rahul Gandhi launched the CWC-approved Sangathan Srajan Abhiyan, the restructuring of the Congress party organization in the state. Madhya Pradesh is the first state to undergo the remodeling of the party after the pilot project has been completed in Gujarat. At the CWC meeting in Ahmedabad in April, the Congress' highest decision-making body decided to restructure the organization and match up with the BJP's organizational strength. It was decided to start with Gujarat as the model state. After Rahul Gandhi's visit, it was decided that the first phase of organizational restructuring would start with the appointment of Congress district presidents. AICC general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh affairs Harish Chaudhary had claimed that appointment of district president would be completed by June 20. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now However, a month has passed since the deadline and the party is still discussing names of candidates and matching the ground reports prepared by AICC observers and state Congress observers who went to the districts and spoke to party workers. Speaking to TOI, state Congress media cell chief and former minister Mukesh Nayak denied the district president appointments have been delayed. "We are not running late. The AICC sent central observers to the districts and thereafter, the state observers also visited the grassroots to ask party workers to name suitable district presidents," Nayak explained. "The reports of the AICC observers and the state observers are being matched. The meetings are in the final stages, and we can expect the list of district presidents to be released by the AICC soon," he said. Party spokesman Abbas Hafeez argued, "Madhya Pradesh is a big state. And there are districts with two organizational presidents' posts – one for rural and the other for urban areas like Bhopal city Congress president and Bhopal rural district president. The democratic process takes time. And unlike the BJP, the Congress will not announce district presidents one by one. The high command will announce the names soon. " Ruling BJP took a dig. State BJP media department chief Ashish Agarwal took to X and said, "Congress district president appointment is not about capabilities but depends on a quota system. If a person fits the 'quota', only then will he get the district president's chair. Democracy be doomed, here only the leaders' recommendation prevails."
