Kim Kardashian 's $4M ring heist ends in verdict — but one walks free

Al Bawaba24-05-2025

ALBAWABA - Justice served years later — Kim Kardashian 's robbers finally convicted.
A French court handed down a conviction on Friday for the jewel thieves who, in 2016, held the American reality TV star Kim Kardashian at gunpoint and then stole her engagement ring, which was worth $4 million, along with other items of her personal property.
There were ten individuals detained on suspicion of involvement in the theft that occurred in Paris. The millionaire celebrity was tied up by thieves disguising themselves as law enforcement officers and wearing ski masks. They then stole the ring, which had been presented to her by her ex-husband, the rapper Kanye West, who is now known as Ye, along with other jewelry.
Kardashian went to Paris to testify earlier this month, during which she revealed to the judge that she had been under the impression that she was going to pass away.

An additional defendant was found guilty of unlawful weapons charges, while eight of the ten defendants were found guilty of crimes directly related to the theft by the panel of judges and jurors that was comprised of both male and female members. One individual was found not guilty.
Aomar Ait Khedache, who is 69 years old and was the mastermind behind the robbery, received a sentence of three years in prison. The penalties that were handed out were the harshest possible punishments for the five offenders who participated directly in the fraud.

The judicial decision was accepted by Kardashian, according to her legal representatives.
My sincere appreciation goes out to the French authorities for their efforts to bring about justice in this matter. According to a statement that she released, "The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving an impact that will last for the rest of my life and for my family." "While I'll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all."
During her court appearance, she stated that she had the ability to forgive Khedache, who had sent a letter requesting forgiveness.

Trump-Putin call follows major Ukrainian drone strikes; Moscow vows response

ALBAWABA- U.S. President Donald Trump revealed on Tuesday that he held a 75-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the leaders discussed Ukraine's recent drone strikes on Russian territory, as well as the looming threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions. Also Read Trump warns Putin: 'playing with fire' The call comes in the wake of a bold Ukrainian drone offensive over the weekend targeting Russian airfields and rail infrastructure. The attacks struck multiple sites deep inside Russian territory, including an airfield in the Rostov region and railway lines near Bryansk, disrupting military logistics and causing visible damage to parked aircraft. President Trump says that Russian President Putin told him in a phone call earlier today that he would respond to Ukraine's weekend drone attacks — CNN (@CNN) June 4, 2025 Ukrainian sources described the operation as part of an intensifying strategy to pressure Russian forces and weaken their internal supply routes. Russian authorities have confirmed the incidents but offered limited details, while independent analysts suggest the strikes demonstrate Kyiv's growing long-range drone capabilities. On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: 'We discussed the attack on Russia's docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides. It was a good conversation, but not one that will lead to immediate peace.' Trump emphasized that Putin was resolute in promising a response to the Ukrainian strikes, particularly the weekend's airfield attacks. 'President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond,' Trump added. The conversation also touched on Iran's nuclear ambitions, with Trump stating he warned Putin that 'Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.' He noted that both leaders seemed to agree on this stance. 'Putin said he might participate in the talks with Iran and help speed up the process,' Trump said, adding that Tehran is 'dragging its feet' and must give a clear answer soon. Russian authorities confirmed that airbases in the Rostov and Krasnodar regions were hit, damaging at least two aircraft and igniting fuel storage facilities. Ukrainian drones also struck key railway hubs near Bryansk, disrupting transport lines used to support Russian military operations near the Ukrainian border. The coordinated wave of attacks, involving dozens of drones, marks a significant escalation in Kyiv's strategy to extend the war deep into Russian territory.

Ukrainian delegation arrives in Turkey for peace talks

ALBAWABA - A Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesperson said that the Kyiv delegation arrived in Istanbul for peace talks with the Russian officials, AFP reported on Monday. The discussions are scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. (1000 GMT). The talks are one day after Kyiv forces' strongest attacks against Russia, as Ukraine claims to have destroyed over 40 Russian bomber planes at several military airbases, the BBC reported. Ukraine informed the American administration before carrying out the attack, a Ukrainian official said, as reported by Axios. Today, a brilliant operation was carried out — on enemy territory, targeting only military objectives, specifically the equipment used to strike Ukraine. Russia suffered significant losses — entirely justified and deserved. — Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський (@ZelenskyyUa) June 1, 2025 Among the planes targeted were allegedly high-value bombers, including the Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and the A-50 plane. Ukraine's President said on X: "Today, a brilliant operation was carried out — on enemy territory, targeting only military objectives, specifically the equipment used to strike Ukraine. Russia suffered significant losses — entirely justified and deserved." "In total, 117 drones were used in the operation with a corresponding number of drone operators involved. 34% of the strategic cruise missile carriers stationed at air bases were hit. Our people operated across several Russian regions — in three different time zones. And the people who assisted us were withdrawn from Russian territory before the operation, they are now safe," he added.

Nadine Nassib Njeim was robbed in Cannes, $20,000 Hermes bag

ALBAWABA - Renowned Lebanese actress Nadine Nassib Njeim recently took to social media and revealed that a thief stole a $20,000 Hermes bag from her in France, after she attended the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. In a clip circulating on social media, the actress expressed her anger towards the incident and mentioned that the robbery occurred after she checked in her bags at the airport. Additionally, Njeim shared in disbelief that the Emirates Airlines staff are investigating the matter. However, she said that they offered her unfair compensation, which "wouldn't even buy an accessory for the Hermes bag," emphasizing its hefty price. The robbery sparked widespread debate on social media, with many users raising topics about image and overpaying for luxurious items such as her $20,000 Hermes bag. Others referenced China's recent videos about luxurious brands, criticized Njeim, and wrote, "Don't be upset, Nadine. Basically, all the international brands are manufactured in China, and their cost is a thousand times less than what you paid." They added, "I mean, if you paid $50,000, its real price in China is $500. So, you should be upset about your stupidity and the stupidity of others who pay these amounts. Go to China and buy all the brands, and there is a discount there too. Ridiculousness."
