Will Andile Mpisane play for mom's new soccer club?

Andile Mpisane has fueled rumours he may advance his soccer career at eSwatini club, Mbalane Highlanders, which his mother, MaMkhize – real name Shauwn Mkhize – was recently named president of.
The move comes months after the businesswoman's South African club, Royal AM, was expelled from the PSL amid her R40 million SARS tax evasion scandal.
Although the club has adopted many elements of Royal AM, MaMkhize does not own the Swati counterpart.
Over the weekend, MaMkhize confirmed that she was the new president of Mbalane Highlanders FC, which had been rebranded Mbalande Highlanders AM FC.
The inclusion of the word 'AM' – Andilie Mpisane's initials – fuelled rumours that her son may be more than just a supporter of the football club.
Andile and his wife Tamia accompanied MaMkhize to the club's announcement, with the former even cutting the ribbon to the 'new and improved' team.
Andile Mpisane stoked the flames by reposting a clip of the announcement on his Instagram Story with his football catchphrase 'Expensive 10'.
The number 10 was Andile's football jersey number at Royal AM, where he was both a player and a chairman.
Rumours that Andile Mpisane may have a starring role in Mbalane Highlanders AM FC, possibly thanks to his mother, comes as no surprise.
In 2023, MaMkhize defended her 'talented' son's soccer abilities.
Speaking to Andile Ncube on his Metro FM show, Sports Night Amplified, the businesswoman insinuated that her luxury car-collecting son deserved a spot on the squad. Will former Royal AM chairman and player Andile Mpisane make a football comeback?

MaMkhize also revealed that Andile had played for Amazulu during his development stage.
She said: 'He wouldn't have entered AmaZulu if he didnt have talent. They only look for talent.
'He would have grown. Maybe he would have been an AmaZulu player'.

Lacklustre Lerena loses to Lawrence Okolie by unanimous decision

A lacklustre Kevin Lerena was comprehensively outboxed by Englishman Lawrence Okolie at the Wembley arena in London on Saturday night, losing a lopsided unanimous decision. Two judges didn't give Lerena a round, scoring the bout a perfect 100-90 for Okolie, while the third gave the South African one round at 99-91. Okolie's record improved to 22 wins and one defeat, while Lerena, the WBC bridgerweight champion, dropped to 31-4. As a heavyweight campaigning internationally, Lerena has lost three out of three abroad, having been stopped in 2022 by Englishman Daniel Dubois and outpointed by Australian Justis Huni in 2024. Lerena was never in trouble against Okolie, but he surely went to the ring with more than survival on his mind. Okolie controlled the first round, pressing the action against a fighter who looked tentative and seldom initiating the action.

WATCH: Mofokeng rounds keeper to seal first pre-season win for Orlando Pirates

Relebohile Mofokeng came off the bench to secure a 2-0 victory for Orlando Pirates against Granada on Saturday evening in Spain. This match was the Buccaneers' fourth and final pre-season game, and they needed a strong performance to boost their confidence ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season. After losing their first match against Bolton Wanderers last week, Orlando Pirates had played two successive draws before facing Granada. In the first half of the game, the team looked positive and could have taken the lead, but their lack of finishing let them down. In the second half, the Sea Robbers continued to press for a goal, but again struggled with finishing. While the Spanish side also created some chances, they were unable to convert them. Mofokeng was introduced in the second half as Pirates searched for the winner. Their persistence paid off when Patrick Maswanganyi blasted a shot past the Granada keeper after the ball fell at his feet. The Buccaneers continued to push for a second goal, which came in the 90th minute when Relebohile dribbled past the keeper, giving Orlando Pirates their first victory of the pre-season. Having played in four matches in Spain, 'President Ya Ma 2000' scored two times. The 20-year-old has recently been in the spotlight regarding his future, and this match may have been his last in Pirates colours. Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Mayo, Kwinika, Jaedin Rhodes, new striker

Kaizer Chiefs have concluded their pre-season tour to the Netherlands with one win and four defeats. Having spent nearly three weeks in the Netherlands, Amakhosi will now return to South Africa to finalise their preparations ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season. The Soweto giants will play Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko next weekend in the Toyota Cup. So far, Chiefs have made seven signings but are expected to bring in more players before the transfer window closes in September. The Glamour Boys have been linked with ex-Cape Town City stars, Jaedin Rhodes and Khanyiso Mayo. The latter is contracted to CR Belouizdad until 2027, but Rhodes is reportedly a free agent and is highly wanted by the big three South African clubs. Mayo has been linked with Amakhosi since 2022 but failed to sign the striker last year after Algerian giants tabled the offer hours before Kaizer Chiefs. With only one striker signed for the season, some fans feel the club need to go out and spend big on a prolific forward. It appears that George Matlou and Zitha Kwinika have extended their stay with Amakhosi. The two players hardly played last season under Nasreddine Nabi but it appears to Tunisian has decided to give them another chance at Naturena. Former Chiefs captain Tefu Mashamaite was delighted that Amakhosi renewed Kwinika's contract. 'Firstly, congratulations to Zitha on his extension. He's a homegrown talent and I had the privilege of working with him when he got promoted from the juniors when I was still at Chiefs. Around that time I tipped him to be part of the next generation to take Amakhosi to the next level. Him, Pule (Ekstein) and (Chris) Matombo,' Mashamaite said to Soccer Laduma . After spells at Chippa United, Bidvest Wits and Stellenbosch, Mashamaite feel Kwinika hasn't really blossomed to his full and true potential. 'And my theory is that I know Zitha to be a centre back. But he was at times used as a right back (under Arthur Zwane), which I think he did pretty well in that position. 'But I feel like his true potential is in the centre back position. He played as a centre back in the Nedbank Cup final, which might be the reason why he has a new chance,' said the former Kaizer Chiefs defender.
