10 Grossest Areas People Forget to Clean
By Danielle Mason, who has 20 years of experience
Under and Behind the Fridge
Crumbs, dust, and spills accumulate over time, attracting pests and creating bad odours.
Shower Curtain & Liner
These collect mildew and soap scum but are often overlooked. Wash or replace them regularly to keep your bathroom fresh.
Toothbrush Holder
One of the germiest places in the bathroom, filled with bacteria and toothpaste residue. Rinse and disinfect it weekly.
Dishwasher Filter
Food particles and grease build up, leading to unpleasant smells and reduced efficiency. Remove and clean the filter every few weeks.
Washing Machine Seal
The rubber gasket traps mould, mildew, and detergent buildup. Wipe it down with white vinegar and leave the door open to air dry.
Light Switches and Remote Controls
Touched daily but rarely cleaned, making them germ hotspots. Wipe them down with disinfectant regularly.
Under the Sofa Cushions
Crumbs, dust, and even lost items hide in the cracks. Remove the cushions and vacuum thoroughly.
Kitchen Sink & Plughole
Food residue builds up, causing bad odours. Pour boiling water, bicarbonate of soda, and vinegar down the drain to freshen it.
Ceiling Fans
Dust piles up on the blades and gets redistributed into the air when turned on. Use a microfibre cloth or pillowcase to clean them easily.
Doormats
They trap dirt and bacteria from shoes but are rarely washed or vacuumed. Shake them out weekly and deep clean them every month.

Inside Strictly's new signing Vicky Pattison's years-long feud with ITV star who she branded ‘entitled little rat'
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) STRICTLY's new signing Vicky Pattison is dancing into the spotlight on the juggernaught show this September. But arguably her most famous Tango was a years-long feud with fellow reality TV alum Sam Thompson. But they've also clashed a number of times in the past. It all kicked off in 2017 when Geordie Shore legend Vicky criticised Sam's sister, Louise Thompson, over her working out on holiday. Made In Chelsea star Sam then hit back in a video of his own, saying only he was allowed to mock his sister. The war of words quickly escalated and Vicky responded by blocking Sam on social media – a block that would last for five years. In that time, things only got frostier when Sam appeared on Celebrity Big Brother. Viewers saw him get upset after he was warned in the Diary Room for flicking fellow housemate Jemma Lucy's nipple. Vicky, appearing on Big Brother's Bit on the Side, pulled no punches. Speaking about the incident to Rylan, she slammed his behaviour and said: 'I think there are two ways to look at this. "One, he got upset because he knew it was a joke, Jemma knew it was a joke and he didn't mean any offence by it. I'm A Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison revealed as latest Strictly signing a year after best pal took part "Secondly, because he's an entitled little rat who is used to always getting what he wants.' The 'rat' remark ensured the feud had well and truly taken root. Despite having a mutual friend in Towie's Pete Wicks – who is Vicky's best mate and later became one of Sam's closest pals – the two reality stars stayed firmly out of each other's way. Vicky only lifted the block on Sam in 2022 after they unexpectedly bumped into each other at a Harry Potter premiere. But while both became close friends with Pete, they were rarely in the same room at the same time. One of the few occasions came when Vicky went to watch the live tour of Sam and Pete's podcast, Staying Relevant, at London's Hammersmith venue. But even that didn't go smoothly – she was turned away by security at first because her bag was too big. When she finally did appear on Staying Relevant in May this year, the awkward history was addressed. Vicky admitted she had blocked him all those years ago, while Sam said: 'I had no idea, until we met each other and I tried to find you on the app.' The trio laughed if off, with both appearing to have put the feud firmly behind them. Sources close to Vicky now insist the pair are friends. And with Vicky now following in Pete's footsteps by signing up for Strictly, it's likely he'll be seen front row cheering her on. FEUD OVER LOUISE It all went south when Vicky commented on Louise's fitness clips in her magazine column in 2017. Chatting to Now magazine about Louise's videos with personal trainer boyfriend Ryan Libbey, Vicky joked: "I tell you what, you won't catch me doing anything like that. Louise is getting a lot of column inches, but I find her brother Sam more entertaining. "I always thought he was a bit wet on Made In Chelsea, but he's hilarious. Nobody can dispute Louise is in amazing nick and her fella looks like The Hulk. But doing that on holiday with a camera crew? It's not achievable or attainable. She looks incredible, but I couldn't imagine anything worse." It prompted a defensive video from Sam at the time. He later recounted the incident to The Sun's Bizarre column, and revealed: "Vicky took the p*** out of my sister doing a work-out video on Instagram. "Vicky was quite harsh to Louise so I commented back, but she didn't read it and instead unfollowed me on Instagram." Vicky's rep has been contacted for comment. 7 Vicky is set to wow on the Strictly dance floor Credit: Instagram 7 She sparked a feud years ago with Sam when she dished out her opinion on his sister working out on holiday Credit: Splash News

Bangles Are the Accessory All The Cool Girls Can't Stop Wearing
It's no secret that accessories can make or break an outfit. Sometimes it doesn't matter whether you're in a crisp white tee or a full head-to-toe look, the right jewellery can instantly transform your style. And right now, there's one piece stealing the spotlight: bangles. The once-beloved 70s accessory is experiencing a full revival, perfectly aligned with fashion's current obsession with maximalism. This season, everything is louder, punchier, and bolder than ever, from the return of printed jeans (credit to Roberto Cavalli for leading the charge) to the rise of 'ugly shoes' like Vibram Five Fingers, Camper Kobarahs, and Givenchy's chunky Marshmallow slides. In this moment, minimal jewellery simply fades into the background; it's the statement pieces that take centre stage. Of course, bangles have never really been out of fashion, but if you need inspo for how to style yours now, turn to the 1970s, where arm candy was often stacked in multiples, jangling with every movement - a visual and audible celebration of more-is-more styling. That playful energy is exactly what's fuelling their comeback today. It helps that some of the world's most influential style setters are firmly on board. Dua Lipa stacked chunky resin bangles with her white bikini and shorts while on holiday, proving they work just as well ocean as they do in the city. Bella Hadid has been spotted layering them with bohemian prints and low-slung denim, channelling a laid back vibe. Influencers are following suit, showing off resin, enamel, and tortoiseshell styles in everything from streetwear edits to breezy vacation looks. ©@dualipa, @solelamalila, @6kenza, @cinziabayliszullo The best part? You don't need a designer budget to get involved. High street retailers are offering plenty of statement styles for under £20, making bangles one of the easiest and most affordable ways to elevate your look. We say this to say, bangles are the perfect way to tap into the maximalist mood of the season. Loud, fun, and unapologetically bold - they're the jewellery trend that refuses to be overlooked.
