Will Big Dumper continue to dominate? Will Oneil Cruz leverage that 6-foot-7 frame into more homers than anyone? Will Braves' slugger Matt Olson give the hometown fans something to cheer about? Cal Raleigh, Mariners (38 HRs)
Raleigh is leading the majors in home runs, and also hit the second-most of anyone in MLB history before the All-Star break — just one behind Barry Bonds' 39 in 2001, which still left Raleigh with the AL record. Whether that will translate into Derby dingers remains to be seen, but there's no doubting his power. This is the third season in a row that the Mariners' catcher has hit at least 30 home runs, and in just four full seasons in the majors, he's gone yard 131 times.

Oneil Cruz, Pirates (16 HRs)
While Cruz's career-high in home runs is 21, he's already gone yard 16 times in 2025. Plus, if you've ever looked at him before, then you've got a pretty good idea about how much power is locked away in him: Cruz stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 240 pounds. Not only that, but when he crushes a ball, he crushes it: he set a record for exit velocity on a home run in 2022, which stood until 2025… when Cruz himself broke it with the hardest hit ball you've ever seen . Letting a guy like that into Derby is a potential treat for us all.

James Wood, Nationals (24 HRs)
The Nationals' young phenom has played in just over a season's worth of games in the majors. In those 174 contests, he's gone deep 33 times, and is on pace for 40 homers this year alone. The 22-year-old hasn't been around the game as long as his competitors, but he's already got the bonafides to make you believe he can cause some real damage at the Derby.

Matt Olson, Braves (17 HRs)
Matt OIson is in his second Derby. Despite hitting 23 homers in the first round back in 2021, when Olson was still with the Athletics, he lost to Trey Mancini's 24. And while he might not sound that exciting with just 17 home runs this year compared to Raleigh's 38, Olson is still on pace for his fifth 30-homer season, and led the majors with 54 in 2023.

Brent Rooker, Athletics (20 HRs)
Brent Rooker is the first Athletics player in the Home Run Derby since Olson's turn in 2021, and he's got legitimate pop. Rooker has gone yard 20 times already in 2025, and hit 30 and 39 homers in the previous two seasons, despite playing his home games in the cavernous Coliseum in Oakland before the A's moved to their temporary home in Sacramento.

Byron Buxton, Twins (21 HRs)
Byron Buxton has had a serious resurgence in his power in 2025: his career-high in homers is 28, and he's at 21 already this summer. Health has long been the issue for the Twins' outfielder, but he's played in 78 games in '25, and is showing off what he can do when he's on the field. That could translate into far more homers than you'd think just given the raw numbers from his career.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., Yankees (17 HRs)
People think Aaron Judge when Yankees with power come up, but Jazz Chisholm is no slouch. He has been New York's second-best hitter so far in 2025, and has hit 17 long balls in just 65 games. His first full season with the Yankees has been a memorable one so far, and mashing his way through the Home Run Derby would only add to that.

Junior Caminero, Rays (23 HRs)
If Junior Caminero has any real faults in his game, they're due to being just 21 years old and in his first full season in the majors. Even with that context, though, the Rays' slugger has already hit 23 homers in 2025 and 30 in 141 career MLB games, and unlike with pitchers in the regular season, no one at the Derby is going to try to find any holes in his swing.
DraftKings odds: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total) Predictions
Most Total Home Runs: Oneil Cruz is going to look like he's taking batting practice out there, even more than is usual for the Derby.
Most Home Runs in a Round: Jazz Chisholm Jr. is going to absolutely lock in at some point, and it's going to be the round of the evening.
Home Run Derby Winner: Cal Raleigh is going to bat left-handed – his best side – in a park that favors lefties. This is his Derby to lose.
Darkhorse candidate: Junior Caminero has tremendous power tucked away in Tampa Bay, and is going to surprise a lot of people at the 2025 Derby.
The 2025 Home Run Derby begins at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, July 14th.

Charlie Dobson shocked Matt Hudson-Smith as he edged victory in the men's 400 metres in front of a sell-out crowd at the Novuna London Athletics Meet. Dobson won the Diamond League final last year and while all eyes were on Olympic silver medallist Hudson-Smith, it was Dobson who swooped through to claim the win in a new personal best time of 44.14 seconds. He said: 'I really enjoyed that one. I kind of set the race up slightly different to how I'd done previously. I got to 200 a couple of tenths faster than I would normally, I hope, obviously I haven't seen the splits yet. 'I just got to the last straight and I felt really good. I thought I'd give it everything. I thought I'd catch a few of them, I didn't think I'd catch all of them.' Asked if Hudson-Smith had any words at the finish, Dobson added: 'He just laughed at me. I couldn't really say much either, to be honest. I was surprised. I'll chat to him after. He's an amazing competitor. 'I love being able to race against him and I'll be honest, I love beating him.' Josh Kerr was another expected to be among the winners but, although he ran a season's best of 3.29.37, Kenya's Phanuel Koech had the measure of the reigning world champion. Georgia Hunter-Bell produced a decisive finishing kick in the women's 800m, running a season's best of 1.56.74 to beat America's Addison Wiley, while Jemma Reekie (sixth) and Laura Muir (10th) were down the field. Morgan Lake claimed victory in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.96m but there was disappointment for Molly Caudery in the women's pole vault as the 2024 world indoor champion cleared 4.60m, some way short of even her season's best of 4.85m, to place fifth. Dina Asher-Smith posted her best time this year in the women's 200m, running 22.25 behind Julien Alfred, with team-mate Amy Hunt third in a new PB of 22.31. The first British quartet of Asher-Smith, Hunt, Desiree Henry and Daryll Neita came out on top in their women's 4x100m relay, running 41.69 seconds to beat second-placed Jamaica, with the second GB entry coming home sixth. The first men's GB team of Jeremiah Azu, Louie Hinchcliffe, Romell Glave and Zharnel Hughes ran 38.08 to finish second to a dominant Jamaican team in the men's 4x100m relay, with the second British quartet taking third. National 400m finals yielded victories for Lewis Davey (44.91) and Victoria Ohuruogu (51.22), with Seamus Derbyshire (48.82) winning a domestic men's 400m hurdle final. Lawrence Okoye had to settle for third in the men's discus with a throw of 67.24m behind Mykolas Alekna's meeting record of 71.70m, while the Netherlands' Femke Bol delivered a comprehensive victory in the women's 400m hurdles, as Britain's Lina Nielsen finished sixth. Noah Lyles was defeated in first 100m since winning gold in Paris last year, running 10 seconds flat as Jamica's Oblique Seville powered home in a time of 9.86. Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi set a new meeting record of 1.42 in the men's 800m, with Britain's Max Burgin taking third with a new personal best of 1.42.36 in a race that had been billed as a world-record attempt.

SEC football media poll drops. Where does LSU football rank?
LSU football is projected to finish fourth in the SEC media title poll, released Friday. Texas led the way, followed by Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and South Carolina to round out the top five. The Bulldogs and Longhorns finished first and second, respectively, last season. The Tigers return quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, running back Caden Durham, and a core of defensive leaders from last season. The pair, along with linebackers Whit Weeks and Harold Perkins, earned preseason All-SEC honors from the AP. Head coach Brian Kelly's staff brought in the top transfer portal class of the 2025 cycle following a win over Baylor in the Texas Bowl. By reforming the wide receiver and defensive end rooms in particular, the Tigers are primed to make a run at the SEC title. Texas, Georgia, and Alabama all field first-time starters at quarterback in 2025. The Longhorns' Arch Manning is already generating Heisman Trophy and NFL Draft buzz. Cubs Predicted To Trade For Two Stars In Huge Mock Deal With NL Club

FanSided's Zachary Rotman recently pitched a blockbuster trade proposal that would send Arizona Diamondbacks stars Eugenio Suárez and Zac Gallen to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Ben Brown, Jaxon Wiggins, and Jonathon Long. "Acquiring Suárez and Gallen in one trade could be as good as it can possibly get for the Cubs. Suárez was an All-Star this year, ending the first half with 31 home runs and an OPS just a shade below .900," Rotman wrote. "He can play third base the rest of the way, giving the Cubs a major upgrade and allowing struggling top prospect Matt Shaw to get a much-needed reset in Triple-A. "Gallen is less of a sure thing, as he's in the midst of a down year, but his track record is exceptional, and he's got as much upside as any starter available. Replacing the injured Justin Steele for this season is a near-impossible task, but Gallen gives them the best chance to do so if he can revert to his former Cy Young-caliber form." Some of them don't always make a lot of sense, but this hypothetical deal seems to have the groundwork of a potential trade this month. The Diamondbacks will likely trade all of their expiring players, including Gallen and Suárez. The only issue here is that it's likely Arizona will land more for this pair of stars than what's suggested in the trade. Suárez is expected to be the best third baseman on the market and will likely require a haul to land by himself. Pair that with Gallen, and the Diamondbacks should be landing quite the prospect return. For the Cubs, acquiring both of these players in one deal would be the best-case scenario. Suárez and his potential 50-home run bat are the dream replacement for Matt Shaw at the hot corner.
