After the driest Spring in almost 70 years, and a June that was dominated by heatwave after heatwave, it's safe to say that July has been a little anti-climactic in the weather department.
But fear not — because the Met Office are predicting a much-needed return to dry conditions and higher temperatures in August. Hurrah!
Alongside a trusty electric fan, a cooling blanket can make a real difference in helping you get a good night's sleep when the weather is hot and sticky. And while they're best known for their snuggly sherpa-lined blanket hoodies, this Oodie Cooling Blanket is one of the best ones on the market.
Lightweight and seriously silky, this Oodie blanket is made from a breathable and moisture-wicking blend of nylon and elastane that'll work throughout the night to draw excess heat and moisture away from your skin. With an 'excellent' Qmax score of 0.32, it's instantly cooling — feeling 2-5°C cooler than your skin. Plus, it's also OEKO-TEK® certified — which means it's made from skin-friendly materials — and is totally fine to put in the washing machine on a gentle cycle. Simply choose from the seven different colours and patterns — from basic grey, to jazzy leopard print — and select whether you want a single or queen size blanket. Buy Now for £99
Loved by solo sleepers, people with partners who run particularly hot, and even pet parents, it's got heaps of 5* reviews — with shoppers seeming genuinely surprised by the impressive cooling technology. More Trending
'I brought this because I'm a very hot sleeper, and now I can never go back to normal blankets,' writes one happy customer. 'It's so soft and lightweight, and is cool enough that I no longer have to leave my legs outside of the blanket when I'm sleeping.'
And if you're also in the market for some summer-friendly sleepwear, definitely browse Oodie's cooling pyjama collection. The Cooling Short Sleeve PJ Top comes in two different prints — Cloud or Love Candy — and makes a really light and airy set when paired with the Cloud Cooling PJ Short, or Love Candy Cooling PJ Short.
Deemed 21% more breathable than regular cotton jersey, these ultra-breathable modal blend pyjamas are naturally cooling, softer than silk, and are also stretchy enough to move with you while you snooze.
As someone who practically lives in their Pink Oodie™ Original during winter, I can confirm that the quality is unmatched . So – watch this space — as writing this was the only convincing I needed to now stock up on some of their cooling gear, too. Heatwave, here I come!

We've been on the hunt for a pink midi dress for months, and M&S has delivered!

Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more Marks and Spencer has a soft spot in our hearts, and has fast become my go-to shopping destination – and not just for the new picky bits or sweet treats, like Yum Nuts or the pistachio bar. In recent years M&S has expanded its fashion collection with ultra stylish pieces, across M&S own brands, as well as other retailers stocked online. Truth be told, I used to associate M&S with the older generation my grandparents used to shop at, but it's long ditched that stereotype, and as a 30-something year-old woman I'm proud to say I shop at M&S all the time – and get compliments on the high quality products that look premium. I own many M&S dresses, but I have been on a hunt for a pink bridesmaids dress ahead of my best friend's wedding. However, I also want the dress to see me through the summer months and holidays to come. Turns out I'm not the only one searching for Marks and Spencer's Pink Dress, as Google searches for 'Marks and Spencer Pink Dress' are reportedly up 180% this month. One dress I am desperately waiting to launch is M&S' Pink Midi Dress, which is available to shop in select stores, but shoppers have to wait a little longer to shop the new drop online. This design features a boat neck and short sleeves that skim the top of the shoulder. These features are combined with a floaty midi skirt, so this dress is a nod to retro 50s dresses. The belt detail makes this dress stand out, as it can be tied tight, or worn loosely around the waist. BUY SOON FOR £45 The Pink Midi Dress is sleeveless and features a boat neckline, which is ultra flattering. The dress hugs the body before it floats out into a mid-length skirt. The most interesting detail is the belted middle, which features silver loop holes to add an extra dimension to the dress. More Trending The cut of the dress is reminiscent of 50s dresses, but the belt detail adds a modern twist IT also makes this dress easy to accessorise with silver shoes and accessories. While it's unknown when the belted Pink Midi Dress will launch online remains to be seen, but we know it will fetch £45 when it does drop. In the meantime, there are a few other pink dresses on M&S we are eyeballing, such as Pure Cotton Pintuck Midi Tiered Dress that costs £55 and is the perfect dress for daytime, the office and holidays. While the Textured Strappy Midi Cami Relaxed Dress, which fetches £29.50, is a versatile dress to suit all occasions. Everything a Fashion Editor is buying now in Aligne's sale for next season

Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more ALIGNE rarely launches a sale, but when it does it's not to be missed. And that time is now. The fashion brand's sale is well underway, and some items have already sold out due to popular demand, though that's not all that surprising. We have long been a fan of ALIGN, and its bestselling waistcoats, though there are other stylish pieces we adore from the brand too. Thankfully, some of those staples we have had our eyes on for a few months have been reduced. From denim mini dresses and maxi designs, to the iconic Leo Denim Pinstripe Waistcoat, cotton midi skirts to trench coats, ALIGNE's sale includes stunning garments to wear now, as well as next season. So, without further ado, these are all the items on our wishlist (or rather online basket ready to checkout), and tips on how to style them for autumn to get your cost per wear. One thing before we go – it's unknown how long the sale will run for, so if you spy something you like that is discounted, we encourage you not to dawdle. Sizes are limited, but we like the louche look anyway. Pair with denim jeans, a simple white tee and a fine knit cardigan when autumn breeze hits. BUY NOW FOR £124.49 (WAS £249) A denim mini dress is a throw on style we often rely on when we want a chic but fuss-free outfit that packs a punch. Go bare legs with pumps in the spring and summer, or slip on a pair of black tights or knee high boots for autumn. Slip on a jumper on top and this dress could easily be mistaken for a mini skirt. BUY NOW FOR £49.49 (WAS £99) A flowy midi skirt has been our favourite alternative to jeans and shorts when the warm weather hits and for city breaks, but that's not stopping us wearing it come autumn. Just layer a knitted cardigan, jumper or sweatshirt, maybe even a trench coat or bar coat for extra warmth and trainers. It's giving scandi. BUY NOW FOR £84.99 (WAS £99) It's giving Ganni, but for a fraction of the price, especially now it's on sale. We love animal print, and no, a full dress is not too much – or giving Kat Slater vibes, trust us. We'd pair with a black roll neck underneath, tights and 70s heeled boots come autumn/winter. BUY NOW FOR £59.49 (WAS £119) There are not enough words to emphasise our love for a white shirt, and yes you need this one too. Structured shirts are back in a big way, especially designs that taper in at the waist, which is a stark contrast to our usual oversized boxy variations. Team with denim jeans for a classic, yet polished office look. BUY NOW FOR £49.49 (WAS £99) Whether you opt for a double denim ensemble, or simply want an extra layer to keep you warm and dry when the weather turns, this gets our seal of approval. You can layer fine knits underneath, even a chunky roll neck, or a T-shirt. BUY NOW FOR £59.49 (WAS £119) If an animal print dress is too intense, then opt for these jeans to ease your way into the trend. Pair with a white tank or t-shirt for now, then layer with knitwear or a blazer for autumn. BUY NOW FOR £49.49 (WAS £99) A boxy blazer never goes out of style, and considering winter whites are a huge hit every winter, this makes for quite the versatile, and seasonal, staple. BUY NOW FOR £84.49 (WAS £165) Barrel jeans have been a hugely popular trend of late, and this style is not going anywhere any time soon. The balloon cut curves around the thighs, knees and calves before tapering in at the ankles. Team with a classic white tee, cotton shirt, jumper or blazer, swap summer flats for trainers or closed toe heeled boots. BUY NOW FOR £49.49 (WAS £99) Would it be an autumn wardrobe without knitwear? This chunky knit is cosy yet smart to wear for the office, and weekend walks followed by a roast dinner. BUY NOW FOR £59.49 (WAS £119) A scoop neck blazer with a tailored waist has also become a popular staple, and alternative to the masculine styles we typically wear. If you have a date night in the diary, this blazer with a pair of jeans and heels is ultra sophisticated. BUY NOW FOR £89.49 (WAS £175) British weather can switch between extremes, so if you're looking ahead to next season a smart coat that will save you from the elements. Plus, it's a timeless style you can rely on year after year. Shapermint brings its inclusive shapewear to the UK

Shapermint, the U.S.-based shapewear brand known for championing size inclusivity and unretouched campaigns, has officially launched in the UK. It is a notable expansion for a brand that has already served more than 12 million customers globally. With a product offering that runs from size XS to 4XL, and a portfolio of best-selling comfort-driven designs, Shapermint arrives on British shores with a clear message: compression doesn't have to mean discomfort. Founded in 2018, Shapermint is part of a broader wave of direct-to-consumer brands reshaping the intimates market. In the U.S., it has achieved mass-market success through distribution on Amazon and Walmart, riding a wave of changing consumer expectations around bodywear. British shoppers will now be able to access the full collection via the newly launched UK e-commerce platform. Where traditional shapewear once promised sculpting at the expense of comfort, Shapermint is selling a different proposition, soft, seamless, roll-resistant support that prioritises ease of movement. Its hero product, the All Day High Waisted Shaper Short, has been lauded for its breathable compression panels and ability to disappear under clothes — without the tell-tale signs of pinching or rolling. The brand's wireless bras, including the Supportive Comfort and Sweetheart Contour models, have developed a loyal following, thanks in part to influencers like British body confidence advocate Iskra Lawrence, who boasts over 5 million followers on social media. Shapermint's messaging, comfort-first, digitally native, and visually honest, reflects a wider shift across the lingerie and shapewear industry. Brands such as Savage X Fenty, Skims, and Good American (all of which offer sizing up to at least 4XL) have upended an industry long dominated by narrow ideals and restrictive garments. According to research firm Edited, size-inclusive lingerie lines have grown by more than 34 percent globally since 2020, with comfort now a key purchasing driver. Gabrielle Richards, Brand Director at Shapermint, explains the pivot: 'We're seeing a shift in consumer expectations around shapewear, it's no longer about squeezing into something restrictive for a night out. Today's shopper is looking for confidence-building pieces they can wear all day.' The UK market presents both opportunity and competition. Brands such as M&S, which dominates the domestic intimates space, have also expanded their shapewear ranges in recent years, and newer entrants like Skims have seen success with Gen Z and millennial audiences alike. Whether Shapermint's pared-back, comfort-first philosophy will resonate with British consumers accustomed to either high street price points or Kardashian-level branding remains to be seen. Still, in an era where the visual language of fashion is increasingly shaped by authenticity and access, Shapermint's arrival in the UK adds another voice to the growing conversation around bodywear that works 'with: the body, not against it. Summary Shapermint, a U.S. shapewear brand known for size inclusivity and unretouched campaigns, has launched in the UK, expanding its reach after serving over 12 million customers globally. Shapermint prioritizes comfort and ease of movement, offering soft, seamless support in sizes XS to 4XL, reflecting a shift in consumer expectations towards confidence-building, all-day wear. The UK market presents both opportunity and competition for Shapermint, as it enters a space with established brands like M&S and newer entrants like Skims, requiring it to resonate with British consumers through its comfort-first philosophy.
