Game studios routinely shut down servers for online play when user numbers have fallen.
And some will be affected within days.
The soonest to face the chop is action role-player Dauntless, which was initially released in 2019.
From May 29, the servers will be shut down for good on all platforms including Windows, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

The team said the decision was made "due to the negative public reception of TK and subsequent decline of active players".
It also means the previously announced season 2 will no longer go ahead.
Another title going offline this month is MultiVersus, which featured various Warner Bros characters from DC, Looney Tunes and more.
The servers to play online will close on May 30.

But developers say there will be an option to play MultiVersus offline via the local gameplay mode "either solo against AI opponents or with up to three friends".
To do this, you'll need to install the latest version of the game and log in during Season 5 before the deadline.

WWE star Naomi is pregnant as she relinquishes world championship
The Bloodline is growing as WWE superstars Naomi and Jimmy Uso announced they're expecting their first child. One week after being pulled from Monday Night Raw, Naomi stepped out in front of the fans to reveal she is seven weeks pregnant, while she was forced to relinquish the Women's World Championship. The 37-year-old superstar brilliantly stayed in character as she told general manager Adam Pearce she wouldn't giving up the gold, before vowing to come back for the 'heffers' of the division in nine months time. Boss Triple H shared a video of him with the couple backstage, and captioned the clip: 'Couldn't be happier for @TheTrinity_Fatu & Jimmy @WWEUsos! Some things matter more than championships. #WWERaw' While Naomi was in the ring, she directed fans' attention to an announcement video with her husband Jimmy on Stephanie McMahon's What's Your Story podcast. In the full version of the podcast, the WWE veteran explained how she found out about her pregnancy on August 10. 'I found out Sunday [August 10] on the road,' she said. 'In my hotel room. had been feeling a little different, a little weird. Wanted to take a test to make sure and rule that out. 'Not thinking – because it's been a long journey with fertility issues that I've had. I really didn't think it was possible.' Naomi explained that before her WWE debut in 2012, the wrestling veteran underwent an oophorectomy to remove her right ovary, while five years ago she had a myomectomy to remove 'tons' of 'big' fibroids. After the six-hour surgery, she was out of action for seven months, and after her health struggles she didn't think she could have children. 'On top of being 37 and only having one ovary, we thought that, naturally, I couldn't any more,' she said, as her husband Jimmy joked they hadn't followed her 'proceed with caution' catchphrase. 'There is no way to know 100% for sure, but we had been advised that [we would need help],' Naomi added. 'I found out Sunday, called him, had to go to work. Stressed about having to tell work because of where I am right now as the champion. Of all times.' Jimmy revealed his wife 'felt like she let all her fans down' and 'like there is a step back because she is cooking'. 'Timing is everything. I want to let her fans know; she loves them and she thought about them right off the bat,' he admitted. '[She] thought about WWE right off the bat because it's a step away now.' However, Naomi was quick to point out that she's 'happy' with the joyful news, while she will be underdoing more regularly check ups due to being 'high risk'. 'It's a lot to process, but I'm happy. I want to get through this healthy because I am high risk,' she said. 'I'm gonna have to get check ups more often, but everything is looking good. We're off to a good start.' Current WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch jokingly branded Naomi 'irresponsible' over the news. 'How irresponsible getting pregnant as a champion,' she wrote, in an obvious nod to her own pregnancy in 2020 when she had to vacate the Raw Women's Title. More Trending Her bitter onscreen rival Jade Cargill shared a lighthearted post referencing their storyline alongside a heartfelt message. She wrote: 'Girl I hate you so bad!!!CONGRATULATIONS 😭😭😭😭😭😭♥️🍼🍼🍼🍼🤰🏽' And Bayley quipped: 'EVERYBODY SAY THANK YOU BIG JIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMM. HAHAHAHAHAHA ⚠️🍼 (sic)' View More » After Naomi ordered Pearce out of the ring on Raw, interviewer Cathy Kelley teased: '!!!!! BABY USO so happy for you @TheTrinity_Fatu @WWEUsos. @ScrapDaddyAPwasn't ready for the pregnancy hormones.' Got a story? Gamescom 2025: how to watch Opening Night Live and all confirmed games
The biggest video games expo of the year is about to start but what exactly is Gamescom and what games will it feature? Although E3 is long gone, its European equivalent Gamescom continues to chug along and while it may not inspire the same amount of anticipation as Summer Game Fest, it's getting bigger every year. Aside from offering previews and updates for upcoming video games, the Opening Night Live showcase hosted by Geoff Keighley always includes some new reveals, with last year's show announcing Borderlands 4 and the PlayStation 5 port of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle. Before the show kicks off, you'll want to know exactly which games will be shown during the event, including important new releases from Microsoft and Nintendo. Gamescom Opening Night Live (ONL) is where all the big new announcements will be held. It airs on Tuesday, August 19, with a pre-show beginning at 6:30pm BST and the main event starting at 7pm BST. You can watch it via the official Gamescom YouTube or Twitch channel, while the official The Game Awards (which is also run by host Geoff Keighley) YouTube and Twitch channels will be hosting it too. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. So far, the following games are confirmed or expected to make an appearing during Gamescom Opening Night Live: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Following the Xbox summer showcase reveal, Microsoft and Activision will be showing extended gameplay for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 and probably confirm the already leaked release date. – Following the Xbox summer showcase reveal, Microsoft and Activision will be showing extended gameplay for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 and probably confirm the already leaked release date. Microsoft will be holding its own livestreams during Gamescom to showcase first and third party Xbox games. The first takes place on Wednesday, August 20 at 2pm BST, while the second takes place at the same time on Thursday, August 21. Both can be watched via the official Xbox YouTube channel. Here is the schedule for what will be shown during both livestreams. Wednesday, August 20 ROG Xbox Ally Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Dying Light: The Beast Keeper World Of Warcraft: Midnight Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Grounded 2 Hotel Barcelona Invincible VS Cronos: The New Dawn Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Outbound PowerWash Simulator 2 Starsand Island Indiana Jones And The Great Circle: The Order Of Giants Thursday, August 21 Ninja Gaiden 4 At Fate's End Onimusha: Way Of The Sword Age Of Empires 4 Overwatch 2 High On Life 2 The Outer Worlds 2 Jurassic World Evolution 3 Fragpunk Mistfall Hunter Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles My Hero Academia: All's Justice Silent Hill f Lego Voyagers Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Opening Night Live will obviously have much more to show, including brand new game reveals. While it's difficult to predict what new games could be shown, some announcements have been strongly hinted at for Gamescom, and we can make some educated guesses. It's not explicitly been confirmed for Opening Night Live, but Ubisoft is holding a dedicated panel for The Division 2 during Gamescom. And since it's teasing a new Division 2 related project, an announcement trailer during Opening Night Live would make sense. The project is likely another DLC expansion (a new one just launched in May) or a new spin-off to replace the cancelled The Division: Heartland. Ubisoft is working on a full sequel, The Division 3, but that's probably still some way from a formal announcement. Ubisoft has a handful of games that could also make an appearance, such as its remakes of Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time (which is supposed to launch next year) and Splinter Cell, as well as the rumoured Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake. Plus, there's the new Rayman game, a rumoured The Crew 3, and the eternally absent Beyond Good & Evil 2, though those are the kind of announcements Ubisoft may prefer to save for its own showcase. Keighley's trailer for Opening Night Live includes glimpses of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, so you can expect this to make an appearance too. Since it's already slated for a September launch and will be playable at Gamescom, any new trailer will probably show off more tracks or DLC characters. After years of waiting, fans of Hollow Knight will finally get a proper update on the sequel, Silksong, at Gamescom. Aside from the fact that it's said to be launching this year, playable demos will be available at both the Xbox and Nintendo booths. As such, the odds of it getting a new gameplay trailer, perhaps one with an exact release date, during Opening Night Live are higher than they've ever been. Bandai Namco may have already let slip plans to remaster another entry in its Tales role-playing series, namely 2011's Tales Of Xillia, which only ever released for the PlayStation 3. This comes from a news update for the Tales series that was accidentally posted early on the Bandai Namco YouTube channel. Although it was quickly removed, fans on Reddit quickly caught a screenshot of the video's thumbnail, which displays a scene from the game. The video was meant to be uploaded on Monday and now it looks like the plan is to announce it tomorrow, albeit at 3pm BST which is a few hours before Gamescom. Bandai Namco has a few other games playable at Gamescom – namely Little Nightmares 3, The Blood Of Dawnwalker, and Towa And The Guardians Of The Sacred Tree – so one of these could see a new trailer during Opening Night Live as well. Gamescom tends to only feature a few genuinely new game reveals but one that's been heavily rumoured in the last few weeks is a new Lego Batman game from Traveler's Tales and Warner Bros. Intriguingly, it's claimed to be giving the Dark Knight the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga treatment and adapt multiple Batman movies, rather than being a new story of its own making. Supermassive Games has confirmed the next entry in The Dark Pictures anthology – the sci-fi themed Directive 8020 – will have a presence at Gamescom. As such, there could be a new trailer that offers a more concrete release date beyond just 2026. Although this action role-player was recently delayed out of 2025 and into early 2026, Crimson Desert is still planned to be playable at Gamescom. So, it wouldn't be surprising if publisher Pearl Abyss has a new trailer for Opening Night Live lined up as well. An upgraded re-release of Shenmue 3 has already been announced though it came with no screenshots or gameplay footage to demonstrate the improved visuals. Considering publisher ININ Games opened its announcement with 'Officially Unveiling at Gamescom 2025,' it's reasonable to assume a trailer is being saved for Opening Night Live. Resident Evil: Requiem will undoubtedly be Capcom's biggest attraction, but the publisher has two other upcoming games playable during Gamescom: Pragmata and Onimusha: Way Of The Sword. Although both games saw new trailers not too long ago, Capcom may have updates on them during Opening Night Live, especially since both are slated for 2026. Maybe it'll have a tease of new DLC for Street Fighter 6 as well. Square Enix's current schedule is pretty busy, with its current priorities including the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, the Dragon Quest 1 and 2 remakes, and Octopath Traveler 0. Any of those could see new trailers, even short ones, during Opening Night Live, as well as the Xbox and Switch 2 ports of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, since they're still lacking release dates. We've seen some people hoping for an appearance from Kingdom Hearts 4, but that seems very unlikely. Such an announcement would probably be saved for Tokyo Game Show next month or Disney's own D23 event. While Nintendo does have its own booth, with a playable demo for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, maybe don't expect a new trailer confirming a release date. Nintendo would want to announce that during one of its own showcases. More Trending At best, it could share release dates for the Switch 2 ports of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Elden Ring, since those will be playable at the event too. For what it's worth, after two showcases for third party games and indies, it's speculated a proper Nintendo Direct will air in September, since Nintendo traditionally has them at that time of year. Our guess is that it'll be centred entirely around Metroid Prime 4 and offer a deep dive on its gameplay, as well as a release date since it's still slated for 2025. What Hulk Hogan reportedly thought of Newsom
The press office of California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently posted a meme featuring the late Hulk Hogan watching over him - but the WWE icon reportedly 'couldn't stand' the Democratic politician. The sarcastic AI-generated image featured Kid Rock, Tucker Carlson and Hogan (with a halo over his head) with their hands on the shoulders of a sitting Newsom. Linda told the outlet that 'it would be a cold day in hell' for her husband to support Newsom. Paraphrasing their conversation with Lisa, TMZ also wrote that Hogan was ' as far from liberal as you can get,' and that Lisa found the post to be 'pretty lame' (the 'couldn't stand' phrasing was also TMZ's). In fact Hogan, spoke at last year's Republican National Convention in support of Trump, and the president expressed his condolences for his death on Truth Social after his passing in July. 'We lost a great friend today, the 'Hulkster.' Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way -- Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart,' Trump said. 'He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week.' 'He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!' Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, passed away from a heart attack on July 24 - roughly two-and-a-half weeks before what would have been his 72nd birthday. Hogan had also been estranged from Brooke for years (they did reconcile before his death), and the Daily Mail previously reported that she was 'overwhelmed and emotionally drained' following his death. Brooke did not attend Hogan's funeral with family and friends but later held her own memorial for the WWE legend.
