Cartoon Network Praised For Replies To Anti-Gay Trolls
As you may know, June is Pride Month, and the truth is that this often means being subjected to a whole load of performative activism from brands on social media.
But while some companies simply change their logo to rainbow colors and let that be that, Cartoon Network has proven itself as a true LGBTQ+ ally after its Pride post on Instagram was flooded with bigoted comments from anti-gay trolls.
Earlier this month, Cartoon Network's official account — which has over four million followers — shared a selection of Pride-inspired artwork featuring their characters, which had been created by fans.
In addition to crediting all of the artists in their caption, they wrote: 'You are an EXPERIENCE! 🏳️🌈 Pride is a reminder to live bravely in your authenticity - use your voice, stand up for others, and spread love ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜'Unfortunately, it wasn't long until the criticism began — but whoever runs Cartoon Network's profile remained unfazed.
'This is a joke, right? Must be a joke 😭' one comment read, to which CN replied: 'look in the mirror you'll see one 😉'
'How to destroy somebody's childhood in 10 seconds:' somebody else wrote, and the network retorted: 'ok dramatic 🙄'
'….. My childhood is gone, there is nothing else to say,' a similar comment echoed, but Cartoon Network replied: 'Doesn't seem like you've grown up tho 🤔'
And when another user shared a series of sick emojis, Cartoon Network wrote back: 'goodbye 👋'
The company also commented on its post: 'Watching comments be mad about characters from a show that aired 15 years ago 👁️ 👄 👁️,' as well as: 'Some of yall need to rewatch some episodes and it shows 🤗'
And needless to say, people couldn't be more obsessed when screenshots of the comments were posted to a Reddit forum. A popular response reads: 'i typically roll my eyes at snarky corporate social media stuff but i like this.'
'Same. I was coming in to say normally I hate when companies/brands try to have a cool and relatable social media voice but this? This I will take,' somebody else agreed.'This makes my millennial heart so freaking happy,' another user wrote. 'I need to remember us sane people do happen to also be the majority.''Finally, a company with an actual backbone. This is refreshing, this is ACTUALLY honoring the community,' one more commented. Somebody else said: 'You know what, fuck yeah, I grew up on CN from way back when in the 90's and I couldn't feel more proud seeing this unfold.'While somebody else concluded: 'Damn didn't know Cartoon Network was chill like that.'

John Mulaney condemns threats against family after Olivia Munn's Ms. Rachel comments
John Mulaney condemns threats against family after Olivia Munn's Ms. Rachel comments Show Caption Hide Caption Olivia Munn rejected seven-figure-offer after 'traumatic' on-set incident During an appearance on Monica Lewinsky's 'Reclaiming' podcast, Olivia Munn revealed that she rejected a seven-figure offer to sign an NDA after a 'traumatic' on-set incident. unbranded - Entertainment John Mulaney is speaking out against violent threats directed at his family. The comedian, 42, said in an Instagram story on Wednesday, June 11, that his wife, Olivia Munn, and their kids have been receiving "violent and threatening" comments and messages because she made an "innocent comment" about "what children's programs we like," which has "somehow — unbelievably — been conflated with not caring about the deaths of children in Gaza." Munn recently sparked backlash after she told People magazine she doesn't allow her children to watch YouTube star Ms. Rachel. Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso, has been outspoken in her advocacy for Palestinian children, though Munn made no mention of this in the interview. "This is absolutely insane and needs to stop," Mulaney wrote. "The people doing this are so wildly out of line and so unhelpful to any conversation. You took a nothing comment to a dark and dangerous place. This kind of behavior isn't activism." In the original People article, which is no longer available on the magazine's website, Munn said that while "I know kids love (Ms. Rachel)," the "thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy." She added, "These kid shows drive me crazy." Munn also said that "Blue's Clues" is not allowed in her house, either, and that she "can't take" children's cartoons. Ms. Rachel defends advocacy for Palestinian children amid backlash: 'It's sad' Accurso reacted to the comments on Instagram by asking, "WHO CARES?!" She shared screenshots from two Instagram posts about Munn's statements and questioned why media outlets were focusing on this instead of Accurso's advocacy for children in Gaza. "I'd rather you cover me advocating for kids in Gaza who are literally starving, largest cohort of child amputees in modern history, thousands & thousands killed — no medical care, no education, no homes… do better!!!" she wrote, clarifying she doesn't "care that (Munn) doesn't want to watch the show" and sends "all my love to her and her family." Celebrities tell all about aging, marriage and Beyoncé in these 10 bingeable memoirs In a statement posted on Instagram on June 12, Accurso urged her followers to "please be kind" to Munn and her family and condemned "hate, attacks or hurtful comments." She said that her callout of the People article wasn't about Munn but rather about being frustrated with seeing "stories that don't matter" while "children's immeasurable suffering is being ignored." The YouTube star also revealed she has been in touch with Munn. "I know some outlets would love to cover a feud between two women, but guess what? That doesn't exist," she said. "Her and I have been in touch and we are both choosing kindness." In a since-expired Instagram story, Munn wrote that her "comments were never meant to diminish the joy, comfort, and impact (Ms. Rachel) brings to so many families," according to Entertainment Weekly. "Every parent understands the importance of finding meaningful programming that helps us connect with our kids. I don't want something taken out of context to be a moment that steals even a minute of joy for anyone."

'Thundercats' (2011): The Complete Series Blu-Ray Review - Reboot Series Blazes An Entertaining New Path
The ThunderCats are back! A generation after becoming beloved animation icons, the mighty survivors of Thundera returned for a bold, new re-imagining that mixed the best of the past with the boldness of the new. After the destruction of the cat civilization of Thundera by the evil Mumm-Ra, young Prince Lion-O leads a small band of survivors to safety. As the threats of Mumm-Ra ring in their ears, these determined cats know what they must do: find the Book of Omens. Using his powerful Sword of Omens, Lion-O guides his friends, facing vicious foes and making fantastic new allies while racing towards a showdown with Mumm-Ra. Now all 26 episodes are available in 'sight beyond sight' 1080p HD on Blu-ray Disc as they were meant to be seen. So get ready to rip into the action with Lion-O, Tygra, Panthro, Snarf, Cheetara, Wily Kit, Wily Kat and hear the battle cry of 'ThunderCats Ho!' once again, for the very first time! For thoughts on Thundercats: The Complete Series, please check out my thoughts on No Streaming Required: Video Quality Thundercats looks pretty wonderful on Blu-Ray with its 1080p transfer in 1.78:1 originally released in 2014. The series consists of 26 episodes and is given two discs. Even with so many episodes packed on a disc, there is never a sense that the disc is struggling to hold everything, as compression artifacts are far from a common occurrence. While the streaming version on Hulu is also a good option, these Blu-Ray discs help refine the image even further by eliminating any unwanted compression artifacts or digital nuisances of that nature. There is the occasional odd animation anomaly or background banding, but deficiencies in the transfer are kept to a bare minimum. There is no visible damage or shortcoming that was spotted while checking out these episodes. Everything looks impeccably clear for a favorable viewing experience. Colors are exceptionally vibrant and bold throughout the entire run. The animation aesthetic lends itself to creative character outlines brought to life with firm lines, along with some very imaginative backgrounds that look lovely in high definition. Black levels tend to be very deep with no crush detected. This presentation treats the series well on Blu-Ray. Audio Quality The Blu-Ray set comes with a formidable DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio track that serves the show well. Sound effects from action scenes and other kinetic moments provide a memorable force in the low end that is appreciated. The show deploys some effective environmental sounds that render well in the stereo mix. Dialogue is given the proper prominence in the track with a clear presentation in the center speaker that holds firm even when different environments are being engaged. Music is momentous without drowning out other important elements. This presentation delivers what you need for the experience, even if a full surround sound track may have buoyed things a bit. Optional English SDH subtitles are available. Special Features There are no special features provided on these discs. Final Thoughts Thundercats is a very entertaining update to the original series that brings more of a mature tone to the proceedings while doing its best to respect what came before it. Some characterization choices appear to be a bit misguided, but we largely appreciate the depth brought to the characters. The anime-inspired animation is gorgeous throughout the season, and the vocal performances add some gravitas to the material. It is not a perfect continuation, but it definitely deserved more than one season to grow. The Blu-Ray set from Warner Archive delivers in the A/V department, but it does not bring any supplemental features to the table. Fans of the franchise with an open mind should give this a shot. Recommended Thundercats: The Complete Series can be purchased directly through MovieZyng or various other online retailers Note: Images presented in this review are not reflective of the image quality of the Blu-Ray.
