Coldplay dedicates Nashville show to Ozzy Osbourne after his demise

Malaysia Sun23-07-2025
Washington DC [US], July 23 (ANI): Coldplay dedicated a cover of Black Sabbath's soft-rock 1972 ballad 'Changes' to the late Ozzy Osbourne at their concert at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, reported People.
John Michael 'Ozzy' Osbourne, the lead singer of British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, has died at 76. He breathed his last on Tuesday after a yearslong struggle with Parkinson's disease.
Less than three weeks ago, Osbourne performed from a throne on stage at Villa Park, telling fans, 'You've no idea how I feel -- thank you from the bottom of my heart. 'The concert featured performances from Osbourne's friends, including Metallica and Guns N' Roses, and was billed as the heavy metal legend's 'final bow'.
Before the show, a fan posted a video on X from outside Nissan Stadium, where the band could be heard performing 'Changes' during soundcheck.
'We'd like to dedicate this whole show to the incredible genius, talent, and character called gift to the world who was Ozzy Osbourne. We send our love to his family,' Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said in a fan-captured video from the concert shared on TikTok, according to People.
Martin said remembering the legend, 'Ozzy, we love you, wherever you're going.'
In his 2011 autobiography I Am Ozzy, co-written by Chris Ayres, the Black Sabbath frontman revealed that the lyrics were inspired by the end of guitarist Bill Ward's first marriage. Osbourne co-wrote the lyrics with Black Sabbath bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler, as per the outlet.
'I will never forget you - you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage,' Yungblud wrote. 'Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough. You took us on your adventure - an adventure that started it all.'
'I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time,' concluded the rock star.
Osbourne's family said in a statement on July 22, 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.' Osbourne is survived by his wife Sharon and six children, reported People. (ANI)

Freakier Friday: More Chaos, More Heart, Still Totally Freakin' Awesome [Review]

Subscribe to our FREE I grew up watching Freaky Friday (2003), and to this day, Lindsay Lohan's Avril Lavigne-meets-alt-girl vibe of layered tees, dark jeans, chunky accessories, smudgy eyeliner, and that iconic guitar lives rent-free in my head. © 2025 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. So when I heard Freakier Friday was coming out — and that Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis were both returning — I was curious, a little skeptical, but mostly excited. And honestly? I had fun. © 2025 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. The film picks up years later with Anna (Lohan) now a single mum to a teenage daughter, Harper (Julia Butters, who is excellent), and introduces us to Eric (Manny Jacinto), a very charming, very British widower with a daughter of his own, Lily (Sophia Hammons). The daughters don't get along, the parents get engaged, and suddenly we're looking at a future blended family that's… not quite blending. © 2025 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Then comes the twist: a chaotic double body swap — Harper switches with Anna, and Lily ends up inside Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis), who's now the grandma-slash-guardian figure. The swaps are triggered by a soda machine and a psychic (Vanessa Bayer, clearly having the time of her life), and from there, everything spirals. © 2025 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. There are great moments throughout — a standout for me was actually when Anna and Eric met for the first time at the principal's office. The chemistry is cute, but it's X Mayo as Principal Waldman who completely steals the scene with her hilarious one-liners and unfiltered observations. © 2025 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. But I'll be honest: the body-swap performances didn't hit quite as hard this time. The first movie worked so well because you could see Anna and Tess fully inhabiting each other — the way they moved, spoke, even stood. Here, Anna and Harper already have such a similar vibe that their switch doesn't create much tension or contrast. And in the second swap between Lily and Tess, the British accent somehow survives the magic? Which kind of defeats the point. © 2025 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Anna is also manager to global pop star Ella, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. She does add a touch of flair and representation to the film, although it felt slightly forced at times. That said, the movie has heart. The story lands emotionally, especially in the final stretch when Harper starts to understand what her mum's been carrying all these years. There's a subplot about Anna writing music again, and just when I thought the nostalgia couldn't hit any harder — Pink Slip reunites and they sing Take Me Away!! I teared up. Not even gonna pretend I didn't. © 2025 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. And yes, Chad Michael Murray is in this one. And yes, he still looks ridiculously good. Freakier Friday doesn't have the same tightness or iconic moments as the original. It's messier, a little overstuffed, but genuinely warm. It's for people like me who grew up with Freaky Friday and want something familiar with a few new surprises. Freakier Friday opens in cinemas nationwide from 7 August 2025. 'Riverdale' actor KJ Apa to play Hollywood legend James Stewart in upcoming biopic

Los Angeles [US], August 6 (ANI): KJ Apa is all set to portray Hollywood legend James Stewart in his next. The 'Riverdale' star has been signed on to star as the late actor in an upcoming biopic. According to Variety, the upcoming biopic will revolve around Stewart's rise in Hollywood, his Academy Award-winning work in 'The Philadelphia Story' and also his enlistment in the US Army Air Corps as a combat pilot during World War II. Not long after returning home, Stewart even worked in the 1946 film, 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Speaking about the same, KJ Apa, best known for playing Archie on the CW's 'Riverdale', expressed feeling proud of having the opportunity. 'I have always been a huge James Stewart fan and feel so honoured I get to bring his story to life. As someone from New Zealand, I've long admired that generation of American men who stood for patriotism, integrity, and a deep sense of duty. It is important to me to give back to a country that has given me so much, and what better way to do that than by honouring a man who served it with great honour?' he told Variety. Titled 'Jimmy', the biopic will be directed by Aaron Burns and written by Justin Strawhand. James Stewart's daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, will serve as the executive producer. Director Burns described the Oscar-winning actor as 'universally beloved,' further adding that his life will make an amazing film. 'Jimmy Stewart is universally beloved as an actor. He truly embodied the everyman. We all know him from 'It's A Wonderful Life,' but as I discovered his real-life story as a World War II military hero, I realised Jimmy's life makes for an amazing movie,' he said. Besides Apa, the film will also feature Jason Alexander, Max Casella, Sarah Drew, Julian Works, and Jen Lilley in key roles. James Stewart passed away in 1997 at the age of 89. (ANI)

Prince Harry cleared of 'bullying' in African charity row

LONDON – The UK's charity watchdog on Wednesday cleared Britain's Prince Harry of accusations of bullying in a row with an African charity he founded, but deplored that the bitter internal dispute was played out in public. The charity Sentebale was at the centre of an explosive boardroom dispute in late March and April when its chairperson Sophie Chandauka publicly accused Harry, the youngest son of the UK's King Charles III, of "bullying". Days earlier, Harry and co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho had announced they were resigning from the charity they established in 2006, after the trustees quit when Chandauka refused their demand to step down. Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, launched the charity in honour of his mother, Princess Diana, to help young people with HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and later Botswana. After its months-long inquiry, the UK-based Charity Commission "found no evidence of widespread or systemic bullying or harassment, including misogyny or misogynoir at the charity," it said in its conclusions published Wednesday. But it "criticised all parties to the dispute for allowing it to play out publicly", saying the "damaging internal dispute" then "severely impacted the charity's reputation". It added there was "a lack of clarity in delegations" and added this led to "mismanagement in the administration of the charity". It has issued the charity with a plan to "address governance weaknesses". Harry said in an April statement that the events had "been heartbreaking to witness, especially when such blatant lies hurt those who have invested decades in this shared goal". Chandauka had accused Harry of trying to force her out through "bullying (and) harassment" in an interview with Sky News. In one example, Chandauka, who was appointed to the voluntary post in 2023, criticised Harry for his decision to bring a Netflix camera crew to the charity's polo fundraiser last year, as well as an unplanned appearance by his wife Meghan at the event. The accusations were a fresh blow for the prince, who kept up only a handful of his private patronages including with Sentebale after a dramatic split with the British royal family in 2020, leaving the UK to live in North America with his wife and children. "Moving forward I urge all parties not to lose sight of those who rely on the charity's services," said the commission's chief executive David Holdsworth, adding improvements should now be made. Harry chose the name Sentebale as a tribute to Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997 when the prince was just 12. It means "forget me not" in the Sesotho language and is also used to say goodbye.
