Sultan's Cup camel racing from April 6 to 10
The Royal Court Affairs represented by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC) has announced the final camel race for the season 2024-25, which is the Sultan's Cup Festival 2025.
The festival is set to take place from April 6 to 10, at the Al Fulaij Track in the Wilayat of Barka in Al Batinah South Governorate.
The event will feature 77 races across various camel categories in the corporation with Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF).
The opening day, April 6, will be 32 races for the 'Hagayeg' category, two years old, for 4 km. 23 races will be in the morning with cash prizes for the top ten. In the afternoon, there will be nine main races with cars and four icons as prizes for the winner and cash prizes for the top 10.
The second day, April 7, will be 20 races for the 'Lagaya' category, three years old, for 5 km divided into 14 races in the morning with a cash prize for the top 10. Six main races will start in the afternoon, with six cars, and four icons for the winners and cash prizes up to 10th place.
The third day, April 8, will be nine races for the 'Yathaa' category, 4 years old, for a 6 km in the morning with three cars and two icons, as well as cash prizes for the top 10.
Additionally, the morning session will feature three races for human riders over 2 km, featuring a car and cash prizes for the top ten.
On the fourth day morning, April 9, there will be three races for the 'Thanaya' category, 5 years old, for a distance of 8 km. Four races are allocated for the 'Al Hawl' category, 6 years and above. Each category will have a car and two icons in addition to the cash prizes for the top 10.
Participation Requirements
The Royal Camel Corps has outlined general conditions for participation in the festival allocated only for purebred Omani camels wholly owned by Omani citizens.
The Oman Camel Racing Federation will ensure that participants adhere to strict anti-doping regulations, prohibiting the use of any stimulants or banned substances.
All race-winning camels will undergo testing for prohibited substances, and any violations will result in the forfeiture of prizes and the imposition of penalties per the federation's regulations.
Specific rules have also been set for human rider races; the Omani rider must be at least 18 years old.

Muscat, Aug 15 The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre hosted the second edition of the 'Phygital' football championship from August 10 to 14, blending the mental thrill of electronic gaming with the physical excitement of real-world matches. This innovative experience showcased the harmony between the digital and physical worlds. Organised by the Oman Committee for E-Sports as part of the 'Sport Park' activities, the event featured eight teams with over 50 players, presenting a unique model of dual competition that combines advanced technical skills with on-field athletic performance, adding a new dimension to sports and entertainment. The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Amer bin Nasser al Matani, CEO of Oman LNG's Development Foundation, who stated in his speech that the championship represents a qualitative leap in Omani sports, praising the organisers for providing a professional environment and high-quality facilities. He emphasised that these efforts contributed to the event's success and the emergence of promising young talents capable of competing regionally and internationally. Fearless team claimed second spot. The final matches crowned JR Style as the champions after an intense clash with Fearless. Matches are played on a small virtual pitch, encouraging open play, rapid exchanges and swift transitions. The game then shifts to the physical stage, played on a real football pitch in a five-a-side format, with each half lasting five minutes, offering a fast-paced, physically demanding atmosphere. The final result is determined by the total goals scored across both stages, making balance between digital and physical performance essential and pushing teams to prepare their players in both aspects. In the third-place playoff, Bite on Fire defeated Al Ittihad with an overall score of 5–3. Al Jahwari added that the second edition received wide engagement and praise from both participants and fans, with prize money exceeding 1,000 Omani rials. The winning team also earned the opportunity to represent Oman at the 'Future Games' in Kazakhstan, an international event that combines physical and digital sports. Refereeing errors dash Seeb hopes as FC Goa advance
MUSCAT, AUG 13 Seeb rued some refereeing decisions including a penalty rejection as hosts FC Goa won 2-1 in the AFC Champions League playoff in India's Goa on Wednesday. In the 43rd minute, the ball touched the hand of Dejan Drazic inside the box but the Chinese referee denied a penalty after consulting the line referee at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
