Road Rage In Canada: Pedestrian Run Over In Parking Spot Dispute

It wasn't that long ago the running joke was Canadians were overly nice, but we've seen an increasing trend of violent road rage incidents like a recent one over a parking spot. While most Canadians probably still are pretty nice people who think poutine is divine, it seems some have an untamed rage boiling over these days. This road rage case out of Winnipeg actually resulted in what sounds like some pretty serious injuries. It went down in the parking lot of a recreation center after two women got into an argument that ended in violence.
One woman in her 30s was on foot, standing in an open parking spot in what sounds like a full lot, saving the spot for her family as they were driving towards it. We know how frustrating it can be to drive around and around looking for parking spot when everything is taken, so she probably saw the spot, got out and ran over to it while her husband drove around to park in it.
In the meantime, a woman in her 40s tried pulling her vehicle into the spot but was angry the younger woman on foot wouldn't move out of the way. That sparked a verbal exchange, then the driver pulled into the spot, knocking the pedestrian to the ground, says Winnipeg Police Service.
Rather than leave it at that, the driver decided to keep pulling up, actually running over the other woman, who was 'trapped under the front tires of the SUV' say police. Yikes – who even does that? And over a parking spot, of all things?
We're guessing after she literally ran someone over to pull into a parking spot, the driver realized she was in big trouble and took off, leaving the other woman laying on the ground with lower body injuries. Another driver could've pulled into that spot and ran the poor woman over again. Thankfully, it sounds like her family arrived and she was taken to the hospital.
Police tracked down the aggressor, arresting her and hitting her with charges for Assault with a Weapon and HTA Drive Carelessly.
We know people get worked up, stop thinking, then do stupid things, but who actually runs over someone because they want a parking spot? Just what is going on in Canada?

Garland animal-control officers pull 15-foot python from truck engine compartment

Animal control officers in Garland captured a 15-foot-long python from a residential neighborhood on May 7, according to a post on the city's Facebook page. The snake, a yellow reticulated python, weighed 85 pounds and had to be pulled from the engine bay of a truck, animal-control officer Alejandro Jaramillo told NBC-DFW. Jaramillo tried to use snake prongs to control the head of the snake, but had to switch to a net and a catch pole because the snake was too large, he said. The python tried to strike Jaramillo multiple times, trapped a man on top of his truck, and a 'tense crowd' gathered to watch the proceedings, according to the Facebook post. 'After patiently waiting and working carefully, the python was safely captured and impounded without incident,' officials said. The owner of the snake was moving houses and had left the python in a temporary enclosure, according to NBC-DFW. The owner will not face any citations, but will have to pay a standard impound fee before retrieving the snake.

T.J. Watt's potential fines for skipping Steelers mandatory minicamp revealed

T.J. Watt's potential fines for skipping Steelers mandatory minicamp revealed T.J. Watt's contract dispute has led him to no-show Steelers mandatory minicamp — and hefty fines could be the price to pay. Insider Adam Schefter revealed that players on veteran deals could be subjected to up to $100,000 in fines for missing mandatory minicamp — and here is what the Steelers star defender could face per day: Day 1: $17,462 Day 2: $34,925 Day 3: $52,381 Total: $104,768 It remains to be seen if the Steelers will impose the fines, but if Watt's rumored $41 million per year asking price is to be believed, $100K would mean little in the long run. Watt isn't the only edge defender seeking a new contract, as Bengals star DE Trey Hendrickson also skipped mandatory minicamp amid extension talks. While Watt remains absent from mandatory minicamp, all eyes will turn to OLBs Alex Highsmith, Nick Herbig, and rookie Jack Sawyer this offseason.
