Report: Jets make Sauce Gardner the NFL's highest-paid cornerback with a $120.4 million extension
The contract paying the two-time All-Pro an average of $30.1 million a year comes a day after the Jets agreed to a lucrative extension with top wide receiver Garrett Wilson. That deal with Wilson is worth $130 million, as the organization locked up two foundational players for the long-term future.

Gardner, who turns 25 before Week 1, was the No. 4 pick in the 2022 draft out of Cincinnati. He established himself as one of the league's top cornerbacks during his first two professional seasons, including being selected the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.

After a down year by his standards, he is out to prove naysayers wrong, saying he has always felt like an underdog. Gardner opted to participate in mandatory minicamp rather than hold out to try to push for a new deal.
After recently declining to say whether he wanted to be the richest player at the position, Gardner now has that distinction.

'Man, I just wanted to show my teammates, show the coaches how much I'm bought into this,' Gardner said. 'I want to win. I want to change the organization. I want to be a part of changing the organization.'
The Jets have the longest active playoff drought in the NFL, dating to a trip to the AFC championship game in the 2010 season. The organization hopes the new regime of general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn — himself a three-time Pro Bowl cornerback in his playing days — can lead a successful turnaround.

Receiver Brysen Wright makes spectacular, leaping one-handed catch for Jaguars Elite in NFL Flag Championships
Brysen Wright is a name we might seeing plenty from in the near future in college football and perhaps the NFL someday. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound receiver provided arguably the highlight play of the weekend (Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. might have something to say about that) during the 14U quarterfinals of the NFL Flag Championships in Canton, Ohio. Wright, playing for the Jaguars Elite 14U, split three defenders on a flag route for a jump ball in the end zone. He snared the ball with a one-handed backhand catch and held on for the touchdown from quarterback Dalton Motes. No doubt about "process of the catch" on this spectacular reception versus the Ravens from Long Island, New York. One-handed catches are a somewhat regular occurrence in college football and the NFL since Odell Beckham Jr. announced his arrival in the NFL with a leaping right-handed grab on a deep ball from Eli Manning in 2014. Even Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was impressed after seeing Wright's catch, posting "Yooo what?" on social media. The touchdown wasn't the only amazing catch Wright made in Saturday's game. In the second half, he made a back-shoulder reception down the right sideline, reaching back with his left hand while bracing himself against the turf with his right hand. Additionally, Wright may be developing into the next Travis Hunter, a player who can dominate as both a receiver and a defensive back. Playing safety, Wright snared an interception while covering the middle of the field. That helped maintain the Jaguars' 18-13 lead late in the second half. The Jaguars went on to defeat the Ravens, 24-19, and advanced to Sunday's championship round where they will face the Bills from Clifton Park, New York. To no surprise, Wright is currently considered a four-star prospect by Rivals for the 2028 recruiting class out of Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He has received offers from many of the top programs in the nation, including Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, LSU, Miami (Florida), Florida, Florida State, Auburn and South Carolina. The 14-year-old may have set the bar for what to expect from NFL players competing in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

LOOK: Chicago Bears' top rookies report for training camp
The Chicago Bears are just days away from the start of training camp, and players around already starting to trickle in. Saturday marked the day rookies, quarterbacks and injured players reported to Halas Hall. Veterans are set to report on Tuesday before the first closed practice Wednesday morning. The Bears' social media account is sharing glimpses at the team's top rookies as they arrive, including tight end Colston Loveland, wide receiver Luther Burden III and defensive tackle Shemar Turner. All eight of Chicago's draft picks are officially under contract, which isn't something every team can say right now as most second-round picks remain unsigned. The Bears have several prominent rookies primed to serve key roles in their first season. Loveland and Burden will serve as two of several weapons for quarterback Caleb Williams -- with Loveland serving as a 1-2 punch at tight end with Cole Kmet and Burden joining a receiver room featuring DJ Moore and Rome Odunze. Ozzy Trapilo is competing for the starting left tackle job with Braxton Jones and Kiran Amegadjie and Ruben Hyppolite II is battling Noah Sewell for the third linebacker spot. Meanwhile, Turner will serve a key role along the defensive interior while cornerback Zah Frazier and running back Kyle Monangai could possibly push for playing time as rookies.
