Canadiens announce full schedule for 2025-26 season
The National Hockey League released its full schedule on Wednesday, and in the tradition of National Football League teams, the Canadiens published a video they thought was funny to go along with it.
The Canadiens' video shows general manager Kent Hughes and executive vice-president Jeff Gorton pointing fingers at the other for failing to create a fun video on time, including ideas such as having Juraj Slafkovsky read out all 82 games in ASMR style, or a Minecraft-style video, or an infinite zoom. Realizing they don't have a video, Gorton says 'this is an emergency' prompting Canadiens emergency backup goaltender Patrick Chèvrefils, a Montreal cop, to introduce the schedule and sit while it scrolls on screen.
The season begins Oct. 8 in Toronto, with the home opener Tuesday, Oct. 14 vs. the Seattle Kraken. The big road trips are Oct. 22-28 in the northwest, Nov. 26-29 in Utah, Vegas and Colorado, March 3-7 in California, March 28 to April 4 in the eastern U.S., and the annual holiday road trip from Dec. 21 to Jan. 4.
The schedule also includes a break in February for the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy, where NHL players will be playing for their countries. This means there will not be the usual Super Bowl weekend matinée games at the Bell Centre. All 41 Bell Centre games will start at 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.
The Canadiens will play Atlantic Division opponents four times each, except for Florida and Detroit (three times each), Metropolitan Division teams three times each, and Western Conference teams twice each.
Broadcast details will be announced later this summer, but national games, including Saturday and Wednesday evening games, will be broadcast by Sportsnet, some Monday games by Amazon Prime Video, and the rest by TSN2.Canadiens 2025-26 season schedule

TORONTO (AP) — Addison Barger hit a two-run home run, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer added hit solo shots and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the San Francisco Giants 8-6 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep and match a franchise record with their 10th consecutive home win. Toronto also won 10 straight at home July 21-August 3, 1985. Toronto's current streak began with a four-game series sweep of the Yankees from June 30 to July 3, overtaking New York for the AL East lead. The Blue Jays followed that with a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels. The Yankees and Blue Jays open a three-game series in Toronto on Monday. Since a three-game sweep of San Diego in late May, the Blue Jays have won 22 of 26 at home. Guerrero reached base three times and drove in two as Toronto improved to 12-3 in July. The series sweep was their eighth of the season. Toronto's José Berríos (6-4) allowed four runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings and won for the fourth time in six starts. Yariel Rodríguez finished for his second save in three chances. Springer's homer was his team-leading 17th. Barger's was his 14th. Guerrero erased a 1-0 deficit with a 420-foot drive off Robbie Ray in the first inning, his 13th. Ray (9-4) allowed five runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings. The left-hander matched a season-high with five walks. San Francisco's Matt Chapman had two hits, including a two-run homer, his 13th. Guerrero and Alejandro Kirk added RBI singles for Toronto, which posted its franchise record-tying 10th consecutive home win at Rogers Centre. Starter Jose Berrios pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on 89 pitches. Berrios allowed eight hits and walked one batter while striking out five. Yariel Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth in relief to earn the save. Robbie Ray made his 21st start of the season for the Giants. The left-hander went 4 2/3 innings and allowed five runs and five hits. Ray also walked five batters and struck out three. Fellow former Blue Jay Matt Chapman hit a two-run home run, his 13th of the season. Heliot Ramos, Andrew Knizer, Brett Wisely and Jung-Hoo Lee hit RBI singles. Attendance was announced as a sellout at 41,693, and the game lasted three hours two minutes. Bichette doubling up Bichette took sole possession of second in the American League with 27 doubles on the season. As of Sunday afternoon, Bichette is six doubles behind fellow shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals. Manoah start Alek Manoah made his second rehab start on Sunday for the Dunedin Blue Jays in High-A as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. The 27-year-old threw 28 pitches (16 strikes) in two innings of work, allowing three hits and one run. Manoah notably did not walk a batter, an improvement from his first start in which he walked two and hit a batter, and also struck out two. Manoah last appeared for the Blue Jays on May 29, 2024. He made five starts for the club in the 2024 season, posting a 1-2 record and 3.70 earned-run average in 24.1 innings of work.
