'No hard feelings': Donald Trump responds to Elon Musk's apology after intense feud; JD Vance tries to ease tensions
Musk-Trump
US President
Donald Trump
has welcomed
Elon Musk
's apology following their very public online feud, saying he holds 'no hard feelings' after the billionaire admitted he had gone 'too far' in his criticism.
'I thought it was very nice that he did that,' Trump told the New York Post during an interview on Wednesday, after Musk posted a late-night message on his platform X saying, 'I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.'
The spat between the two began last week when Musk unleashed a string of harsh social media comments, accusing Trump of blocking the release of government files related to the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Musk also claimed that Trump wouldn't have won the 2024 election without his support and called the president's major tax bill a 'disgusting abomination.'
Musk's attacks followed his departure from the government's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). After stepping down, he called for Americans to 'kill the bill' in Congress, warning it could 'cause a recession in the second half of the year.' The bill includes tax cuts and increased defence spending and passed the House last month.

Trump hit back, calling Musk 'crazy' and accusing him of suffering from 'Trump Derangement Syndrome.' He also threatened to review
SpaceX
's federal contracts, reportedly worth around $38 billion. Despite the heated exchange, Trump appeared open to reconciliation.
'Look, I have no hard feelings,' he told columnist Miranda Devine on her 'Pod Force One' podcast. 'I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that's phenomenal.
I think he feels very badly that he said that, actually.'
Efforts to patch things up have already begun behind the scenes. US vice president JD Vance and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles reportedly spoke to Musk on Friday in an attempt to ease tensions. While it remains unclear if Musk personally contacted Trump, some reports suggest he may have called the president earlier this week.
Trump declined to say whether he was ready to fully reconcile but left the door open.
'I guess I could, but we have to straighten out the country,' he was quoted as saying to the Post. 'And my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it's ever been. And I think we can do that.'
Musk has been a major donor to Trump's campaign and had previously been viewed as a close ally. However, their falling out led to calls for Musk's deportation from former Trump adviser Steve Bannon and sparked debate across political circles.

70% degree seats remain unfilled after 2nd phase DOST counselling
Hyderabad: Not even 30% of the 3.71 lakh degree seats in the state have been filled after the second phase of Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST). According to the details released by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) on Friday, 43,568 students were allotted seats in the second phase of counselling. Of these, 6,077 had got seats in the first phase but participated again in the counselling to secure a seat in a better college. In the first phase, 60,436 students were allotted seats. "There is hardly any demand for degree courses. Maybe, if DOST counselling was held after EAPCET and after release of Intermediate supplementary results, a few more seats would be filled," said Y Ramakrishna, secretary, Telangana Degree College Managements Association. He said that there were way too many seats in undergraduate courses in degree colleges across the state. He also advocated stringent eligibility criteria for professional courses such as engineering to ensure students don't opt for them as the default choice irrespective of their capability to study. Also, while there are 3.71 lakh degree seats, only 2.85 lakh students cleared Intermediate this year, with most going for professional courses. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo Despite poor demand, colleges do not apply for course closure or reduction of seats as they will have to seek approvals again if they want to offer certain courses in the future. In Telangana, there are 805 degree colleges under DOST which offer 457 courses. TGCHE officials said they would be opening up degree courses to non-local students after the third phase of counselling. "We went ahead with DOST counselling as there are students who want to join only degree courses. We did not want to keep them waiting. If needed, we will have special phase counselling for supplementary students and those waiting for EAPCET," said V Balakista Reddy, DOST convenor and chairman, TGCHE. He said they were trying to reform degree education by updating the syllabus and introducing skill-based courses, but it would take a few years to see the results. British-era clock tower near city airport poses flight safety risk
1 2 Patna: A British-era clock tower near Patna's Jayprakash Narayan International Airport has once again emerged as a safety concern for flight operations with airport authorities warning that its height poses a serious obstacle in the approach path for aircraft. The tower's proximity is preventing full utilisation of the already short runway, an issue that has persisted for over a decade. Ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit to Patna on May 29, airport authorities sent a letter to the Bihar govt urging it to address the risk posed by the 56-metre-tall structure, located at the Old Secretariat. The letter reiterated previous requests to reduce the tower's height by at least 10 metres, citing flight safety concerns. Built in 1917, the clock tower stands prominently amidst the greenery of the Old Secretariat complex, which houses offices of ministers and senior bureaucrats. However, its location near the airport makes it a hazard in the flight approach funnel, officials said. "As the clock tower is in close proximity to the airport, because of its height, the entire stretch of the runway cannot be utilised both during take-off as well as during landing. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play Chess on Your PC, Free Play Classic Chess Install Now Undo The runway itself is shorter than the required length and even that cannot be tapped to the full length," said a source. A decade ago, an audit by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also flagged the structure as an obstacle and recommended a reduction in its height. Despite repeated alerts over the years, no action has been taken to date. The issue was also discussed in the Rajya Sabha during the recent Budget session, where Union civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu acknowledged the limitations of Patna airport. He pointed out that its 2,000-metre runway was too short for full-fledged operations by narrow or wide-body aircraft, affecting the airport's ability to handle international flights, despite its designation as an international facility. Besides the clock tower, other challenges affecting the airport include illegal encroachments in Kaushal Nagar and tall trees in the nearby Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, popularly known as Patna zoo. Asked whether buildings in the surrounding areas posed any additional risks, an airport official said, "As of now, no such case has come to us. Any structure coming within 20km has to take NOC from us. A timely survey is also done in this regard and if any violation is found, local administration is informed." Patna divisional commissioner Chandrashekhar Singh, who also chairs the Airport Environment Management Committee, said a meeting has been scheduled for Monday to review safety concerns related to the airport. "Airport officials will be in the meeting and different problems will be taken and addressed by them," he said. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
