This actress left cinema at peak of her career, locked herself in room for 36 years, did not allow even her family to meet her, never showed her face again, died due to…
When an individual aspires to be an actor or to enter the showbiz industry, they think of moving ahead with name, fame, and success. However, in many cases, there are actors and actresses who, despite having the name and fame, meet with a tragic end. Today, we will discuss an actress who became the first one to receive an award at an international film festival in the year 1963. Not just that, she was loved by millions of her fans. However, her end gave horrors to people who got to know she had passed away. If you are wondering who we are discussing, then this person is none other than one of the most celebrated and fine actresses in Indian cinema – Suchitra Sen.
Suchitra started her journey with Bengali cinema in 1952. Two years later, Sen moved to Hindi cinema and then worked in the industry for almost three decades. During this time, she worked in over 30 films and was even paired opposite Uttam Kumar. The duo gave some major hits. Sen also gave some iconic hits such as Devdas, Aandhi, Bambai Ka Babu, and Mamta.
Till the mid-70s, Suchitra became one of the top actresses in the industry. Movies like Aandhi received critical acclaim and Datta was a commercial success. However, after these two films, Suchitra appeared in only one film. Her last release – Pranay Pasha in 1978 – turned out to be a huge failure.
Coming to Suchitra's personal life, she got married at a young age. It was her in-laws and husband who supported Suchitra to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. However, when Suchitra Sen's stardom peaked, she remained busy most of the days, giving less time to her family and husband. As a result, it created massive fights between the two. Not just that, Suchitra's husband also drowned himself in alcohol and then left Suchitra and went to America. He died there in the year 1970.
After Suchitra distanced herself from the acting field, the actress confined herself and locked herself in a room for 36 years. She used to sleep and eat in the same room. Even no family member was allowed to meet her. Not just that, whenever the actress would step out of her room at home, her face would always be covered with a cloth. And when she died in 2014, her face was covered and no one was allowed to see her face.
It was said that Suchitra joined the Bharat Maharaj of Ramakrishna Ashram and devoted herself to spirituality.

Ed Sheeran Became An Arijit Singh Fan After Listening To THIS Song: 'I Was Spellbound'
Last Updated: Arijit Singh invited Ed Sheeran and his father to his hometown in Bengal. Ed Sheeran recently collaborated with Arijit Singh for the song, Sapphire. The recently released song has been an instant hit with the Indian audiences due to the singers' vocals and a surprise appearance by Shah Rukh Khan. Days after the song's release, Ed Sheeran took to his Instagram to pen a heartfelt note for Arijit Singh. Ed Sheeran wrote, 'I first became aware of @arijitsingh music when I watched Aashiqui 2 and heard Tum Hi Ho. I was proper spellbound by his voice, the song, the scene in the movie. I checked him out, and got in touch, and said whenever you wanna sing together, I'm down. He was playing London, so I went to guest with him and sing Perfect there, it was an incredible show." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ed Sheeran (@teddysphotos) It was during this meeting that Ed played an early version of Sapphire for Arijit, who instantaneously had input for vocals and instruments. Ed wrote, 'We then were pen pals over email for a bit, until I was in India for tour. I said to him, we should finish this in person, and he said, please come to my home town so I can show you my home and culture. I was with my dad on tour, which is a rarity to get so much one-on-one time with him. Me and him got a flight to Kolkata, then a 5 and a half hour drive to his home town." 'We arrived, went on a barge down the river, which was stunning, then got a scooty back to the studio where we finished the song. Arijit taught me Punjabi and how to pronounce it all properly, and showed me Sitar. We then had dinner, and scooted around the village to see the sunset and moon with my dad. Was a proper core memory I'll always cherish with my father, and I'm honoured to have created in this way with Arijit," the singer mentioned. 'He's one of the most talented humans I've ever met, and I'm so grateful he shared his talent with me for this song. The full Punjabi version we recorded will be out in a couple of weeks, but until then, I'll be drip-feeding fun videos from our time together," Ed Sheeran concluded. First Published:

Thug Life 1st Monday India Box Office: Kamal Haasan's movie grosses an irredeemable Rs 2.25 crore on day 5
Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Kamal Haasan, Trisha, SilambarasanTR and others has spent 5 days in Indian theatres and the performance has been dismal. After an extended weekend of Rs 40.75 crore with Rs 33 crore from Tamil Nadu and Rs 7.75 crore from the rest of India, Thug Life could add barely Rs 2-2.5 crore on first Monday. The numbers are over 85 percent down from the opening day and more than 70 percent down from first Friday. Thug Life was said to be the antidote of the heavily panned Kamal Haasan biggie, Indian 2, directed by S Shankar. With the Monday trend, it is absolutely clear that Thug Life won't cross Indian 2's Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office. Forget Indian box office, even the worldwide collections will end lower than that movie's India total. The Day Wise Box Office Collections of Thug Life in India are as follows: Thursday - Rs. 17.00 cr. Friday - Rs. 7.50 cr. Saturday - Rs. 8.75 cr. Sunday - Rs. 7.50 cr. Monday Rs 2.25 cr. (Ests) Total - Rs. 43 cr. gross in 5 days The producers of Thug Life, however, are lucky. Unlike Indian 2 that failed to recover its budget even after getting good non-theatrical deals, Thug Life has managed to recover its budget from non-theatrical revenue sources. The theatrical revenue is essentially the amount that will be shared between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. The nominal amount that they make from their film, comes at a cost of credibility. Housefull 5, which released a day after Thug Life, has already crossed Rs 100 crore gross at the Indian box office on day 4 and it is well on course to end its run grossing over Rs 200 crore. There's a lot left for Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam to introspect after Thug Life. The movie is technically very sound and the issue is primarily with respect to the generic story and the dull screenplay. If not for that, Thug Life could have emerged as the highest grossing Tamil movie of 2025, so far. Thug Life plays in theatres now. Have you watched the crime-actioner? Do let us know.
