11 Saudi-Dutch Agreements Signed to Boost Agricultural Collaboration
Saudi Arabia has signed 11 new agreements with leading Dutch companies and research institutions to join the Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance (SAFTA), as part of its participation in GreenTech Amsterdam 2025.
Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti led the Saudi delegation during the official visit to the Netherlands, where the agreements were formalised.
The agreements aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands across the environment, water, and agriculture sectors. A separate memorandum of understanding was signed with the Netherlands Water Partnership and the Dutch Water Alliance to join the Saudi Water Innovation Alliance. SAFTA will serve as a national platform to drive research, promote sustainable agriculture technologies, and accelerate the adoption of advanced solutions in smart farming and food production.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot said Thursday the Premier League champions will only sign the right player for the right price but refused to be drawn on the club's position regarding unsettled Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. Slot, speaking at a pre-match press conference on Thursday, said: "I am happy with the squad but if we think there is a player who can really make us better then this club has always shown they can bring them in." But Slot's options at right-back have been reduced, with new signing Jeremie Frimpong ruled out until after next month's international break with a hamstring injury sustained in their opening victory over Bournemouth. Joe Gomez was pressed into action for 18 minutes despite having had just two training sessions after three weeks out with injury. Gomez could still be in contention at Newcastle, with Conor Bradley only returning to training on Thursday. "At the moment we only have two injuries, but unfortunately it is two in the same position," said Slot. "The good thing is we have other players that can play there. "Wataru Endo played there for a few minutes, Dominik Szoboszlai has already played there. There are other options we can explore." Saudi Arabia allows direct Umrah visas
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah today launched its new 'Nusuk Umrah' service, a key initiative that allows pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia to directly apply for an Umrah visa and book all related travel services without the need for an intermediary. In a statement, the ministry clarified that 'Nusuk Umrah' is one of several new options for those wishing to perform Umrah, in addition to using qualified travel agents in their home countries. According to the Saudi newspaper Sabq, a list of these agents is available on the 'Nusuk Umrah' platform. The new service allows pilgrims to choose from integrated packages or select independent services, including visas, accommodation, transportation, enriching tours, and other support services. Pilgrims can also design their own packages to suit their preferences through a modern interface that supports seven languages and seamlessly integrates with the relevant government systems. The ministry stated that the 'Nusuk Umrah' service offers multiple payment options, enabling pilgrims to complete all procedures electronically—from the initial application to obtaining their visa—with a variety of packages and services that meet different needs, ensuring an accessible and rich experience. The launch is part of the efforts of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to achieve the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The goal is to host the largest number of Muslims and enable them to perform the Hajj and Umrah rituals with greater ease and comfort. The ministry noted that pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia can now apply directly for an Umrah visa and book their travel services without an intermediary through the platform.
