Erin Andrews teases new game show hosting gig after ‘Dancing with the Stars' breakup

New York Post30-05-2025
Erin Andrews said she 'loves trying to be the female version of Michael Strahan,' who became a media giant after his NFL retirement in 2007.
During the latest installment of the 'Calm Down' podcast, the veteran Fox Sports sideline reporter revealed she's going through a rollercoaster of emotions as she films a new Fox game show, '99 to Beat,' alongside actor Ken Jeong.
It's Andrews' first hosting gig in the game show space since she left 'Dancing with the Stars' in July 2020.

'I'm very nervous, I have a ton of anxiety,' Andrews, 47, said. 'But I'm excited to get back into that world. Obviously, it's been a minute since I got the boot from 'DWTS' with [co-host] Tom Bergeron.
'I affectionately love to tell that story. My agent is like, 'Don't say that! You weren't fired, you were replaced.' I was fired.'
Andrews, who laughed about her 'DWTS' exit, explained that she's excited to be back in the game show space and is looking forward to 'a fun challenge.'
'I'm excited to have this opportunity,' she said. 'But yeah, we'll see how it goes. It's going to be real interesting… It's with Ken Jeong, also a Fox family member. So I'm looking forward to it. It's going to run during the football season… really exciting.

'I don't know how much I'm supposed to share. It was a British game show. I've watched it on YouTube, it's hilarious and fun. And here's to the show and more season to come after that. I hope I crush. So it'll be a fun challenge.'
Taking to her Instagram Story, Andrews reposted a clip of her and Jeong backstage while filming '99 to Beat' — a show where 100 players compete in various games for the chance to win $100,000, while last place finishers are eliminated.

Andrews cohosted 'DWTS' for 11 seasons with Tom Bergeron, from season 18 in 2014 through season 28 in 2019.
In July 2020, ABC announced Andrews and Bergeron's departures, saying the show was heading in 'a new creative direction — and they were replaced by Tyra Banks ahead of season 29.

Andrews said she had been taking meetings to try and get back into the game show world.
'I liked the live element of 'DWTS',' This will be taped so it will be a little different… I was on [the show] 'Pyramid' one time with [Michael] Strahan… I love that whole vibe and had been really taking meetings and trying to get back in that world… I'm super pumped I don't have to wear a ballroom gown… I've also been very open about the whole morning show world, too.'
Strahan built a media empire after his NFL retirement following 15 seasons with the Giants.

The former Super Bowl champion defensive end joined Kelly Ripa as a cohost on 'Live! with Kelly' in 2012, and the show was renamed to 'Live! with Kelly and Michael' at that time.
Andrews guest co-hosted with Strahan on numerous occasions before he left to join 'Good Morning America' full-time as a morning anchor.
He is also a Fox Sports NFL analyst.

'I had a blast,' Andrews said, referring to her time cohosting on the 'Live!' with Strahan. Those worlds are something I'm really interested in. I kind of live trying to be the female version of Michael Strahan.
… He has so much swagger and he is so good with everyone… his bank account wouldn't be bad to have either. But that's one thing we say about Stra, Stra works his ass off.'
Andrews announced that '99 to Beat' is coming to Fox at the network's upfronts earlier this month in New York.

Is Taylor Swift about to enter her 12th era? She's going to be a guest on 'New Heights'

Taylor Swift may be swinging open the doors to an opulent era. The singer was announced as a surprise guest on this week's "New Heights" podcast. In a teaser video, what appears to be an album sits on a shelf behind her. It's black with an orange outline. In front of it is an orange square with "T.S." printed on it. Swift turns to Travis Kelce in a light blue sweater and says, "Such a nice color on you." He replies, "Yes I know, it's the color of your eyes, sweetie. It's why we match so well." "We're about to do a f***ing podcast," Swift responds. The full podcast will air at 7 p.m. ET on Aug. 13. Listeners can subscribe to watch here. New era? A countdown clock appeared on her website three hours before 12:12 a.m. on Aug. 12 sending fans into a spiral. A new album would be Swift's 12th. Swifties suspected the singer's next act was imminent after her in-house marketing account, Taylor Nation, shared an Instagram post the morning of August 11: "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…' ❤️‍🔥." A photo carousel of 12 photos showcased her orange bodysuits and dresses from the Eras Tour and included one shot of her and Sabrina Carpenter from the surprise set section in New Orleans. Shortly before the Taylor Nation post, Travis Kelce's account and the "New Heights" podcast page shared a joint tease to a "VERY special guest" on an upcoming episode. A silhouette that looked like Swift sent her fandom into a tailspin of excitement. The image background was glittery orange, the same texture seen on her website with her letter reclaiming her entire catalog. Coming full circle, the podcast is where Travis told his brother Jason he tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number. "This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell," she said during her Time Magazine Person of the Year article. The two dated in secret before she appeared in an NFL suite at a Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears game in September 2023. Kelce has become a conduit for Swift news She changed her lyrics for Kelce at the close of Eras Tour. Every time he was in the audience, she'd switch up the tune to "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me." When she won video of the year at the Video Music Awards, she thanked him in her speech. "When I'd finish a take, and I'd say cut, and we'd be done with that take, I'd always just hear someone like cheering and like 'whoo' from across the studio," she said in the speech. "And that one person was my boyfriend Travis. Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic." When he co-hosted Tight End University in May, she crashed the stage with Kane Brown to close out the night with "Shake It Off." 'The drought was the very worst' It's been 555 days since Swift's last album announcement, "The Tortured Poets Department," which she revealed at the 2024 Grammy awards. Swift has been laying low with music news except for in May when she announed she had purchased the master recordings of her first six albums. In an open letter, she hinted at a new era of sequins and rhinestones worthy of Elizabeth Taylor. The "TS" letterhead was framed by a diamond. She spelled "thiiiiiiiiiiiis" with 12 i's. In her Eras Tour book, she began with a shot from her Paris concert where she debuted the orange body suit and finished her opening letter with "See you next era..." Fans noticed the countdown in France also turned orange before the opening sequence, and they clocked the "Karma" door appearing orange at the end of her show. The 14-time Grammy winner will be joining boyfriend Travis Kelce on the NFL star's show, New Heights, alongside Kelce's brother Jason. News broke Monday morning that New Heights was dropping a surprise show on Wednesday evening with a mystery guest, and immediately the Swifties got to finding Easter eggs. There was the glittery orange background on the New Heights post (their usual is a plain yellow), and then there was the post from Taylor Nation (Swift's official social media account) 12 minutes later that featured 12 photos, all with photos featuring orange outfits (the assumed color of Swift's 12th album). Next, there were the key Instagram likes (Swift's best friend and her recording label). The theories around a potential appearance from Swift on the podcast expanded with hypotheses that she'd announce something on Tuesday, August 12 to keep with the theme of 12 for her next album. Her official website posting a countdown to 12:12 AM ET on the 12th added fuel to that fire. Well, now we have confirmation that the The Tortured Poets Department singer is IN FACT this week's guest on New Heights. The social accounts for the popular podcast dropped a teaser clip late Monday night that featured Swift sitting alongside Kelce and the two sharing a sweet moment of compliments before she expressed her excitement at being on the pod. "We're about to do a [expletive] podcast," the singer said with a smile and laugh. Wednesday night can't come soon enough.
