Hoover slashes £190 off cordless vacuum cleaner that rivals Shark and Amazon
Spring cleaning is on everyone's agenda this month, and Hoover has released a nifty deal that sees £190 slashed off one of its leading vacuum cleaners, bringing it down to more than half price. The HF9 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner With Anti Hair Wrap now costs £109, down from its current sale price of £249 - which already has £50 off the retail price of £299.
But in order to qualify for this discount, shoppers must use the code POWERFUL at checkout.
This impressive 64% reduction from the original price and beats that of Amazon's listed price of £169 and Shark's competing Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Vacuum, which also comes in at £169.
Hoover boasts that its HF9 vacuum is the 'ultimate home cleaning appliance', claiming that it delivers 'double the suction power' in comparison to certain competitor brands, reports The Mirror.
With the ability to tackle both carpets and hard floors, its brush bar can adapt to a handful of surfaces with its varying modes. These modes range from the brush bar spinning slower on more delicate surfaces and faster on tougher carpets - to get to that deeply lodged dirt. It's also got an extra-powerful Turbo Boost setting, which gives up to 12 minutes of stronger suction power.
Hoover's vacuum cleaner has a run time of 30 minutes continuously – which works out to be enough to clean 120sqm – without any loss of suction and takes 3.5 hours to fully recharge. Challenging Shark's anti hair wrap and Dyson's de-tangling function with its own 'Anti-Twist' technology, Hoover's gadget automatically removes hair from the brush bar as it cleans.
The home device from Hoover is also multi-functional as it can be easily converted into a handheld device. This makes tackling stairs, sofas or car interiors a breeze. Other standout features include LED lights in the brush head to illuminate any hard-to-see dirt, the freestanding 'Park and Go' feature and a five-year warranty on purchases made direct from vacuum.
At £109, this deal is £140 cheaper than Dyson's 4.4-star rated V8 Advanced (£249.99) – touted as the 'most powerful V8 ever' – although that model boasts a slightly longer 40-minute run time. That being said, the vacuum HF9 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner With Anti Hair Wrap has a higher 4.6-star rating from over 800 reviews.
One happy customer said: "Best Hoover I've ever had. Great suction, better than a Dyson or Shark. I have just bought one for my mother, and my sister received hers today, we all love it."
Another stated: "I cannot fault this. The design and quality of material is excellent compared to my Miele which cost twice as much. I especially like its height and anti hair wrap. Plus, it stands up alone between uses and whilst charging. Its suction is brilliant, easily switching between hard floors and carpet and its accessories are quality – really good on the sofas."
A third satisfied buyer said: "Absolutely brilliant Hoover, picks up dog hair and the tiniest bit of fluff. It is reasonably quiet and doesn't scare my dogs like my last vacuum and the price was exceptional."
While it may not be ideal for all users, as some have reported the 3.4kg vacuum HF9 as being too heavy, one reviewer stated: "Looks great, functions as described but too heavy for me to be lifting up stairs."
However, many others have praised the vacuum as 'lightweight', 'user-friendly', and 'efficient'. A five-star review commented: "Love my new Hoover, it's lighter, more powerful and more manoeuvrable than my old one. Also has a battery timer and light and stands up on its own. I have been hoovering more often than I used to as it's so easy to carry around the house."

Former Volvo chief says individualism is holding Scotland back
"Rather than inspire new thinking, we have to some extent romanticised this," he told the Creating the Jobs of Tomorrow conference in Glasgow. "The constant recycling of these great achievements risks being akin to having a picture of Bonnie Prince Charlie on the side of a biscuit tin. "It is now time for the next chapter in Scottish innovation to be written," he added, noting that the means are available to develop a highly-skilled workforce that will dictate which countries fare best economically in the years to come. Read more: 'We need to educate young people not just in the technical tools and the business skills of tomorrow, but the basic building blocks of how to work effectively together to build a culture of shared prosperity," he said. "Individualism, digital nomads, scrolling as a form of entertainment [and] working from home has all torn the fabric in the cultural collaboration, and we need to amend this.' Originally a mechanical engineering apprentice at Tate & Lyle in Glasgow, Mr Rowan switched into the technology sector when he joined Digital Equipment Corporation in Ayr in 1986. He went on to hold chief operating officer roles at both BlackBerry and Dyson, and was chief executive of Dyson from 2017 to 2020. Despite all the current geopolitical turbulence and uncertainty, he said it remains his firm belief that "fantastic opportunities" lie ahead for companies and countries that find ways to invest in the key talents and technologies of the future. 'The combination of high computational silicon, artificial intelligence, low latency cloud connectivity and energy security will provide the foundations to accelerate growth and prosperity we have never seen before," Mr Rowan said. "I would go as far as to say that what happens in the next five years will define the industrial and the military landscape for the next 25 years.' Mr Rowan added that this constitutes a "potent cocktail" designed to Scotland's advantage that can enable a "new wave of prosperity for our country". 'To bring this vision alive, we need to be able to get our young talent to embrace these opportunities and engage in the journey, a journey that can create something long-lasting and future-proof for the next generation," he said, but added: "Many of our young people today are out of practice with what it takes to be successful on the global stage."

'This gets up so much dirt and the auto-empty is so satisfying to watch' Shark has cut £200 off a vacuum cleaner that can automatically empty itself in a mega price drop. The Shark PowerDetect Clean and Empty Cordless Pet Vacuum Cleaner has been reduced from £549.99 to £349.99. This 37% discount is also available at Amazon, where the same model costs £349. Shark touts its PowerDetect as a 'powerful, intelligent, deep-cleaning' vacuum cleaner, equipped with two brush rolls and multiple sensors that automatically enhance its cleaning power for optimal performance. It can also detect edges, corners and different floor types, and will increase suction when necessary. READ MORE: Virgin Media is handing customers free iPads right now - but be quick READ MORE: 'Brilliant' Clarkson's Farm book narrated by Jeremy Clarkson is free in Father's Day deal The base is said to hold enough dirt and debris to last 45 days, so the vacuum needs emptying less frequently than an a standard model, while Anti-Odour Technology protects against bad odours. Unlike many competing vacuums, this model collects dirt when pulled backwards as well as forwards, while the Anti Hair Wrap Plus feature removes hair from the brush-roll as it cleans. This makes it perfect for homes with pets, along with the included motorised pet tool that can be used to remove hair from upholstery. The Shark boasts a powerful battery capable of running for 70 minutes, with the charge level displayed on an LED screen that also includes the 'Dirt Detection' feature, reports the Express. Great pick up to, just vacuum away. No need to change setting when going from carpets to solid floor and vice versa. Plenty of tools for other cleaning too." The Shark vacuum has a 'Flexology' wand to clean underneath furniture Another said: "I have dogs and this is so much better than Dyson, which I had to spend hours pulling bits of dog out of it to make it work. This gets up so much more dirt and dust and the auto-empty is so satisfying to watch." Article continues below This buyer was less-impressed, saying: "Works fine, picks up everything but it gets blocked very quickly and you need to put it onto stand to empty more than we would like." But this five-star review said: "Better than my Dyson. The vacuum seems well made and has much better suction than my Dyson, it vacuums to the edges and definitely does a better deeper clean. Having three dogs we need a vacuum that can cope with all the hair. The anti hair wrap function works really well. Battery life is really impressive and allows me to clean our four bedroom house in one go."
