Peter Urminsky admitted he thought the penalty shoot-out against Arbroath in the Premier Sports Cu p was his chance to step up.
St Mirren lost 5-3 on spot-kicks after the sides shared an opening-day goalless draw at Gayfield.

The Buddies played the final minutes of normal time with 10 men following skipper Mark O'Hara's dismissal while Smokies keeper Aiden McAdams denied Fraser Taylor in the shoot-out to set up Calum Gallagher's clincher.

Urminsky got the nod from boss Stephen Robinson after five-and-a-half years as an understudy as he played for the first time since a 3-0 defeat to Rangers on the final day of the 2022-23 campaign.
However, the 26-year-old Slovak stopper was disappointed not to be a shoot-out hero.
'I was a little bit nervous at the beginning, obviously, because I was playing a competition game after a long, long time,' Urminsky reflected.
'But then as the game goes on, you just get more confidence and just feel better and better.
'I think goalies think its their moment [when it goes to penalties].
'Sometimes all it takes is just saving one penalty and you are kind of the hero of the game; even when you didn't make any saves during the game. I've always looked forward to penalties but here it didn't work out.'

Despite being hard-pressed for game time at Saints, Urminsky has thanked goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield for helping develop him during his time at the club.
He hopes that Robbo will give him a crack at a spell between the sticks this season so he can show that he has what it takes to be a success – and that he can keep his place in the team for tomorrow night's trip to Forfar Athletic.
He added: 'It's always a joy to work with him; training wise and so on. We're always trying to make fun of each other all the time. Training is always good.

'Whether it's some easier technical session or even a hard session, I am always looking forward for it. So, it's quite easy to stay motivated when you have that good service around you.'
Even though it was a bitter-sweet moment on Saturday for Urminsky, he said having the members of the black-and-white army behind him in the first half was a special feeling.
He said: 'Oh, absolutely, it was so good.

'It's so different from friendlies as they are just like a training game.
'But now when you have your fans behind your back and they're singing and so on – you hear your name – it's always better.
'It always gives you a boost of confidence.'
