Forget Tesla? China's $41,000 Cybertruck Clone Comes With Steer-By-Wire, Adaptive Chassis, And A Wheel That Moves Side To Side
At just $41,000, it's already being compared to Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) Cybertruck—but with more features and a much smaller price tag.

Content creator Joyevs Studio filmed the Pickup 01 during media day at Auto Shanghai on May 1, sharing a walk-around video that promptly hit seven digits in view count.
According to Technode, the concept truck delivers 12,000 Newton-meter of wheel torque, uses an intelligent chassis system that scans the road 1,000 times per second and relies on steer-by-wire so the wheel can glide from right- to left-hand drive in seconds.
Lifestyle outlet Supercar Blondie indicated that the adaptive chassis flexes or stiffens on demand, letting the truck hop from gravel to tarmac while passengers barely notice. A sliding steering wheel is more than a gimmick; it eliminates a heavy column, frees cabin space, and slashes tooling for export markets with opposite-side traffic.
Trending: Invest where it hurts — and help millions heal:.
Steer-by-wire is edging toward the mainstream. Unlike traditional systems with a physical steering column, steer-by-wire means the Pickup 01 doesn't need a physical steering column. Instead, it digitally transmits steering input, simplifying the mechanical architecture and freeing up cabin space. The system eliminates bulky parts like shafts and joints, making interior layouts more flexible and cutting production complexity.
Numbers matter too. The Pickup 01's torque tops the roughly 1,400 Nm listed for the tri-motor Cybertruck on the EV Database spec sheet. Tesla prices its entry-level Cybertruck at $62,490 on the official order page, giving GAC's sticker a 33% discount.
Tesla began Cybertruck deliveries in late 2023, but a February steering-rack recall briefly drew scrutiny, giving rivals room to strut.
GAC executives at the show said production of the Pickup 01 is scheduled for 2027, with pilot fleets bound for Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Latin America, highlighting its "all-domain" versatility, GAC Adaptive Intelligent Architecture intelligent platform, and focus on export-driven growth under the company's One GAC 2.0 globalization strategy.

Investors in Kandi Technologies Group (NASDAQ:KNDI) have unfortunately lost 69% over the last five years
While it may not be enough for some shareholders, we think it is good to see the Kandi Technologies Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:KNDI) share price up 17% in a single quarter. But that doesn't change the fact that the returns over the last half decade have been disappointing. In that time the share price has delivered a rude shock to holders, who find themselves down 69% after a long stretch. So we're hesitant to put much weight behind the short term increase. We'd err towards caution given the long term under-performance. It's worthwhile assessing if the company's economics have been moving in lockstep with these underwhelming shareholder returns, or if there is some disparity between the two. So let's do just that. This technology could replace computers: discover the 20 stocks are working to make quantum computing a reality. Kandi Technologies Group isn't currently profitable, so most analysts would look to revenue growth to get an idea of how fast the underlying business is growing. Generally speaking, companies without profits are expected to grow revenue every year, and at a good clip. Some companies are willing to postpone profitability to grow revenue faster, but in that case one would hope for good top-line growth to make up for the lack of earnings. In the last half decade, Kandi Technologies Group saw its revenue increase by 3.9% per year. That's far from impressive given all the money it is losing. It's likely this weak growth has contributed to an annualised return of 11% for the last five years. We'd want to see proof that future revenue growth is likely to be significantly stronger before getting too interested in Kandi Technologies Group. When a stock falls hard like this, some investors like to add the company to a watchlist (in case the business recovers, longer term). The company's revenue and earnings (over time) are depicted in the image below (click to see the exact numbers). Balance sheet strength is crucial. It might be well worthwhile taking a look at our free report on how its financial position has changed over time. A Different Perspective Investors in Kandi Technologies Group had a tough year, with a total loss of 31%, against a market gain of about 16%. Even the share prices of good stocks drop sometimes, but we want to see improvements in the fundamental metrics of a business, before getting too interested. Unfortunately, last year's performance may indicate unresolved challenges, given that it was worse than the annualised loss of 11% over the last half decade. Generally speaking long term share price weakness can be a bad sign, though contrarian investors might want to research the stock in hope of a turnaround. It's always interesting to track share price performance over the longer term. But to understand Kandi Technologies Group better, we need to consider many other factors. Consider for instance, the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 1 warning sign with Kandi Technologies Group , and understanding them should be part of your investment process. Which Is the Best "Magnificent Seven" Stock to Buy Right Now?
Key Points This dominant internet enterprise is already positioned as a leader in the AI race, with popular products and services, a cloud platform, and chips. There are few companies that have the financial firepower that this one does, letting it always operate from a position of strength. Despite being a high-quality business, shares trade at a below-market valuation multiple. 10 stocks we like better than Alphabet › Before, it was the FAANG stocks. In recent years, the term "Magnificent Seven" was used to group what the market believes are some of most dominant businesses on Earth. These companies' shares soared, a key factor putting them in investors' good graces. But among these elite businesses, which one is the best Magnificent Seven stock that investors should buy right now? The answer is as clear as day. Dominant internet enterprise operating from a position of strength The Magnificent Seven stock that investors should buy today is Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG). As artificial intelligence (AI) alters how people search for and obtain information, there have been real worries that this internet giant's competitive position is under attack. However, I don't think investors should worry. Google Search is Alphabet's bread and butter, raking in $50.7 billion in revenue in the first quarter. That figure was up 9.7% year over year and 25.5% higher than exactly two years ago despite the rise of OpenAI's ChatGPT. CEO Sundar Pichai says that the AI Overviews feature is "going very well with over 1.5 billion users per month." Alphabet operates from a position of power because it has "15 products that each serve half a billion people, and six that serve over 2 billion each," according to Pichai. No company has this type of reach and broad adoption, giving Alphabet a unique advantage with its distribution capabilities to introduce new AI features. And for what it's worth, Google Gemini is already integrated into these offerings. Alphabet is in a position to be a leading AI company, at least when it comes to serving individual users out there. However, the business is also poised to be an AI powerhouse from an enterprise perspective thanks to Google Cloud. Specifically, the Vertex AI platform lets customers build and deploy their own Generative AI applications. This invaluable offering looks to be a mission-critical partner for customers that don't want to get left behind in the AI race. Besides Google Cloud making Alphabet a major player at the AI platform layer, the company is also working on infrastructure. Alphabet is developing tensor processing units (TPUs), its custom-built chips made to handle inference at a larger scale. "It delivers more than 10 (times) improvement in compute power over our recent high-performance TPU, while being nearly twice as power efficient," Pichai claimed on the Q1 2025 earnings call. With deep pockets ($95 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities as of March 31), Alphabet has what it takes to play offense and keep its foot on the gas pedal. The company plans to spend a whopping $75 billion in capital expenditures this year to buttress its technological infrastructure and build servers and data centers. We haven't even mentioned YouTube yet, which might get overshadowed by the market's focus on AI. According to data from Nielsen, YouTube commands the most daily TV viewing time in the U.S. among any streaming rival, well ahead of Netflix. This video platform also benefits from a powerful network effect, with the service becoming more valuable as the number of content creators and viewers grows. Bargain hiding in plain sight It's reasonable for investors to think that the best opportunities come from smaller companies whose stocks fly under the radar. This just isn't the case, though. Alphabet is the perfect example of a bargain that's hiding in plain sight. Yes, it carries a massive $2.2 trillion market cap. And it did bring in $350 billion in revenue in 2024. However, its valuation is compelling. As of July 15, the stock trades at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of just 20.3. This represents a discount to the overall S&P 500. And it makes Alphabet the cheapest stock of all the Magnificent Seven businesses, supporting the argument that this company should be in your portfolio. Should you buy stock in Alphabet right now? Tesla, Alphabet highlight earnings rush as market hovers near record highs: What to know this week
The S&P 500 (^GSPC) and Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) are both hovering near record highs as escalating tariffs and a growing debate about monetary policy have done little to shake markets. The Nasdaq Composite led the gains last week, rising more than 1.6%. Meanwhile the S&P 500 popped about 0.7% while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) was just above the flat line. In the week ahead, 112 S&P 500 companies are set to report quarterly results. Reports from Alphabet (GOOGL, GOOG), Tesla (TSLA), and Chipotle (CMG) will be in focus. Meanwhile, a quiet week of economic data releases will be highlighted by updates on activity in the services and manufacturing sectors as the Federal Reserve enters its blackout period ahead of its July 29-30 policy meeting. Rate debate heats up On Thursday, Fed governor Christopher Waller made his clearest call yet for an interest rate cut in July. During a speech in New York, Waller said the Fed should cut rates in July, adding that the federal funds rate is more than one full percentage point higher than it should be. "With inflation near target and the upside risks to inflation limited, we should not wait until the labor market deteriorates before we cut the policy rate," Waller said. However, recent moves in market pricing have shown investors growing less optimistic about rate cuts. Last week, signs of stickiness in consumer inflation combined with a stronger-than-expected June retail sales report and weekly unemployment filings pushed out interest rate cut bets. As of Friday, markets were pricing in just a 5% chance that the Federal Open Market Committee would cut rates in July, per the CME FedWatch Tool. A month ago, markets had priced in closer to a 13% chance. "We expect the committee to arrive at a consensus to cut rates in September as the hawkish case weakens with the job market loosening further and no signs of tariffs spilling over into a broader inflationary trend," Citi chief US economist Andrew Hollenhorst wrote in a note to clients on Friday. Read more: How the Fed rate decision affects your bank accounts, loans, credit cards, and investments Earnings scorecard Big banks kicked off the second quarter earnings reporting period with a string of better-than-expected results. Netflix (NFLX) followed those up on Thursday night with an estimate-beating report. Both the streaming giant and the large financial banks said that the US consumer continues to hold strong. On an aggregate level, the S&P 500 is now pacing to report earnings growth of 5.6% compared to the same quarter a year ago, per FactSet data. This is above the 4.8% analysts were expecting just last week. Despite the strong reports, some stocks that had seen massive rallies heading into their reports saw a muted stock reaction in the trading session following their reports. For example, Netflix stock fell nearly 5% on Friday despite raising its full-year revenue guidance. Netflix stock had been up nearly 100% over the past year heading into the release. "An overall 'good' set of results and guide were not good enough for elevated expectations, in our view," William Blair analyst Ralph Schackart wrote in a note titled "Good Quarter, but Tough to Surpass High Expectations." With the broader market at record highs, weak stock reaction after solid earnings reports had been a concern among some Wall Street strategists heading into second quarter earnings. "The challenge is valuation: after a 30% rally off the April lows, the market is trading at 24.7 [trailing twelve-month] earnings, leaving strong results, as Financials demonstrated to start the season, just enough to maintain market altitude while slight disappointments risk material pullbacks," Julian Emanuel, who leads the equity, derivatives, and quantitative strategy team at Evercore ISI, wrote in a note to clients on Friday. Eyes on the 'broadening' Alphabet and Tesla will kick off quarterly releases for the "Magnificent Seven" tech stocks. Once again, that cohort is expected to lead S&P 500 earnings growth this quarter. The Magnificent Seven is expected to have grown earnings by 14.1% compared to the year prior during the second quarter. The other 493 stocks in the index are expected to have seen just 3.4% year-over-year earnings growth. That means the prospect of S&P earnings surprising to the upside largely hinges on Big Tech results. But as the chart below shows, consensus is expecting the other 493 to begin driving a greater share of earnings growth over the next several quarters — a key call among Wall Street strategists hoping for a broadening of the stock market rally that has only come in spurts over the past several years. "It's time for earnings to deliver," Citi strategist Scott Chronert wrote in a note to clients. "Commentary will be key if we hope to see further upside in revisions, and hopefully, some inflections in cyclical sector growth to finally drive broadening. He added, "The issue is the setup. It feels like the market is moving ahead of positive developments. And as we continue to note, sentiment is elevated, and implicit growth expectations are high."
