Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – The Saudi entity of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX), a leading global medical technology company, today announced the official launch of the BD Training Center in Riyadh. This landmark investment underscores BD's commitment to advancing healthcare in the Kingdom by empowering healthcare professionals with cutting-edge knowledge and expertise while supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and National Healthcare Sector Transformation program.
Located at BD's Regional Headquarters in Riyadh, the BD Training Center is designed to support a diverse audience of healthcare professionals, including pharmacists, nurses, lab technicians, doctors, surgeons, and phlebotomists... Its mission is to build intellectual capital, facilitate institutional knowledge transfer, and leverage BD's global clinical and technical expertise to enhance healthcare delivery in the Kingdom, and the region.

Aligned with BD's Signature Programmes, which focus on enhancing patient safety, healthcare worker safety, and driving efficiency, the Center will provide a comprehensive portfolio of educational activities, including on-label product training sessions led by clinical and technical subject-matter experts. It will also organize roundtables and advisory board discussions addressing critical topics such as patient safety, sepsis, and antimicrobial resistance. Additionally, the Training Center will host instructor-led, CME-accredited educational workshops in collaboration with scientific societies and academic universities.

By providing practical solutions and advanced training, the center will support Saudi Arabia's healthcare innovations and its efforts to achieve the objectives of Vision 2030.
According to the World Health Organization, over one in ten (1 in 10) patients continue to be harmed from safety lapses during their care. Approximately 50% of patient safety events are considered preventable. These updates are set to transform how enterprises manage, analyze, and activate data in the AI era. The company revealed enhancements across data engineering, compute performance, analytics, and agentic AI. These innovations aim to eliminate data silos and connect enterprise data to business action. At the same time, they maintain control, simplicity, and governance. James Petter, Vice President, Snowflake EMEA, stated that the new updates redefine what organizations can expect from a modern data platform. He emphasized that the company's goal is to make AI and machine learning workflows more accessible, trusted, and efficient. Snowflake introduced Snowflake Openflow, a multi-modal data ingestion service now generally available on AWS. It enables users to connect to nearly any data source and drive value from any architecture. Openflow removes data fragmentation by unifying formats and systems. The service is powered by Apache NiFi™, automating data flow between systems. It allows data engineers to create custom connectors in minutes, running them on Snowflake's managed platform. It supports a wide range of sources like Box, Google Ads, Proofpoint, ServiceNow, Workday, and Zendesk, among others. Key capabilities include: Hundreds of ready-to-use connectors Integration with cloud object stores and messaging platforms Snowflake also revealed new compute innovations. These include Standard Warehouse Generation 2 (Gen2), now generally available, which offers 2.1x faster performance. Another addition, Adaptive Compute, is now in private preview. This feature automatically sizes and shares resources for better performance and lower costs. The company reported the upcoming release of Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Agents, both in public preview soon. These tools enable users to ask natural language questions and get insights from structured and unstructured data. Powered by models from Anthropic and OpenAI, they run securely within Snowflake. Another announcement was the Data Science Agent, now in private preview. It helps data scientists by automating tasks like data preparation, feature engineering, and model training using Anthropic's Claude. According to Snowflake, more than 5,200 customers, including BlackRock, Luminate, and Penske Logistics, are already using Cortex AI to transform their operations. The company also introduced SnowConvert AI and Cortex AISQL. These tools support fast and cost-effective migration from legacy systems and enable generative AI-powered SQL analytics. Both are designed for high performance and efficiency. Additionally, Snowflake revealed updates to its Marketplace. New agentic products like Cortex Knowledge Extensions will soon be available. Saudi Arabia's Roads General Authority has introduced mobile service pods along the Hijrah Expressway that connects Makkah and Madinah. These stations are intended to assist pilgrims whose buses experience mechanical issues en route. For many pilgrims, the journey between Mecca and Madinah is spiritual and physically demanding. Unexpected bus breakdowns can add to the challenges, leaving pilgrims stranded under the scorching sun. Inaugurated by Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser, these mobile units are strategically located along the Hijrah Expressway to support distressed pilgrims. In addition to providing physical assistance, they create a feeling of safety and compassion, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to the well-being of each pilgrim. Each mobile unit can host 40 pilgrims and features air conditioning, seating, restrooms, and facilities for serving cold drinks and meals. Functioning 24/7 during the Hajj season, these stations are designed to offer prompt relief and comfort to pilgrims in need.
