‘White Lotus' ‘incest scene' actors Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola snubbed by Emmys 2025 — and more
The TV Academy revealed the 2025 Emmy nominations on Tuesday, with the most nods going to 'Severance,' 'The Penguin, 'The White Lotus' and 'The Studio.'
Adam Scott, Kristen Bell, Jean Smart, Colin Farrell, Pedro Pascal, Kathy Bates, Noah Wyle, and Kathryn Hahn are among the nominated actors.
But a number of other performers were snubbed from the nominations list, including 'The White Lotus' stars Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola, who made headlines for their turns as the incestuous Ratliff brothers.

Schwarzenegger, 31, was predicted to score a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series leading up to the reveal on Tuesday, but both he and Nivola, 21, were shut out of the category.
Their co-stars Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs and Sam Rockwell were all nominated in the supporting actor drama series category, alongside three 'Severance' stars and James Marsden for 'Paradise.'

Ironically, Schwarzenegger and Nivola are both nepo babies. Schwarzenegger is the son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, while Nivola's parents are Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola.
Schwarzenegger and Nivola's on-screen sister Sarah Catherine Hook, who played Piper Ratliff, was snubbed as well.
'The White Lotus' ladies Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan also missed out on nominations, but their bestie Carrie Coon scored a nod in the supporting actress drama series category with co-stars Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood and Natasha Rothwell.

Despite the multiple snubs, the third season of the HBO hit still racked up 23 nominations.
In the lead actor drama category, Jon Hamm and Diego Luna both missed out on nominations for their respective roles in Apple TV+'s 'Your Friends and Neighbors' and Disney+'s 'Andor.'
In fact, 'Andor' only got one acting nomination, and it was for guest star Forest Whitaker. But the 'Star Wars' series did get in for Outstanding Drama Series with seven other shows.

'Your Friends and Neighbors,' 'Squid Game,' '1923' 'House of the Dragon' and 'The Handmaid's Tale' all missed out in Outstanding Drama Series.
Other drama snubs include Elisabeth Moss for 'The Handmaid's Tale,' Lee Jung-jae for 'Squid Game,' Jack Lowden for 'Slow Horses,' Dichen Lachman for 'Severance,' Helen Mirren for '1923,' Jacob Anderson for 'Interview With the Vampire' and Allison Janney for 'The Diplomat.'

On the comedy side, 'Only Murders in the Building' stars Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Meryl Streep were ignored by Emmy voters this go around, despite all landing noms last year for Season 3.
However, their co-star Martin Short got his fourth-straight acting nomination for the Hulu project.

'Hacks' scene stealers Paul W. Downs and Meg Stalter, 'Abbott Elementary' favorite Tyler James Williams, and 'Poker Face' lead Natasha Lyonne were also left off the nominations list.
In the limited categories, 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story' star Nicholas Alexander Chavez failed to join his on-screen brother Cooper Koch and on-screen parents Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny as a nominee.

Renée Zellweger got shutout in Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,' though the Peacock film did get recognized in the Outstanding Television Movie category.
The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

Bridget Everett on how she ended up as "Somebody Somewhere"
Bridget Everett will try to tell you she's not a celebrity in Manhattan, Kansas, but don't believe her. She did grow up here, one of six kids, so there's that. "I just love that it still feels like small-town America," she said. "I come back quite a bit and I visit the same spots." But it was when her HBO show "Somebody Somewhere" was set here in Manhattan, that Everett became a bon fide local legend. The show follows Sam Miller (played by Everett), who moves back to her hometown in her 40s, trying to figure out herself, and life, after the death of her sister. Everett was a writer, producer, and lead actor in the semi-autobiographical series. "I was like, 'Is anybody going to watch this? This is not a cool show!'" she said. "You know, like, it's about friendship. I'm not a top model, you know? I don't want to speak for anybody else in the cast! But I think that's exactly kind of why it works." Unlike her character on the show, who returns home to Manhattan, Kansas, Everett stayed in Manhattan, New York, for years, working mostly as a waitress and using, believe or not, karaoke as her main creative outlet. "My way of connecting with people is through singing," she said. "It kind of always has been, and it's easier for me to unlock and kind of be who I really want to be when I'm singing. Those karaoke performances led to her own, now-legendary cabaret shows at the famed Joe's Pub in New York. Everett's performances are sort of unlike anything you've seen, and so risqué we can't show you much of it here on "Sunday Morning." Everett said, "What's interesting to me is, like, learning about people, and why am I up there with no bra and a low-cut thing with everything flying around? It's part of who I am, and I also kind of do it to understand myself, honestly. I like to talk about my family in this way because my family and I don't talk about it. I don't see a mental health care professional!" And that's the amazing part: Everett's cabaret shows somehow end up being, in part anyway, a meditation on life and grief, including saying goodbye to her father, as well as the loss of her mother, sister, and her beloved dog, Poppy, whom she called the love of her life. "For a while I felt a little bit of shame saying that, because romantic love is kind of what most people aspire to," Everett said. "My life is driven in a different way. She just taught me how to love, and she just cracked my heart open in a way that, like, no other person could." In fact, it was this side of Everett that HBO and the show's creators wanted to highlight – the way we can feel both strong and broken, hopeless and hopeful, all in the same moment. Everett, who writes and performs multiple original songs on the show, says she got her love of music from her mother, Freddie. She also got her sense of humor from her mom, as well as her siblings, including Brock, Brian and Brad, who had given Bridget a piece of feedback: that her acting was improving. "I was being honest," Brad said. "Her acting, especially towards the end, I thought, was authentic. I even teared up on some of that, which is difficult to do when you know your sibling [is] acting. So, you need to separate who you know, and then see her in a character. And have it move you? I think it's a great compliment to her." "Thank you," said Bridget. "You could have just said that in a text." The HBO show features a number of Everett's actual friends and collaborators from New York, including Murray Hill, Mary Catherine Garrison, and, in a star turn, the just Emmy-nominated Jeff Hiller as her best friend, Joel. Though HBO chose not to renew "Somebody Somewhere" for a fourth season, it did win a prestigious Peabody Award, and also picked up an Emmy nomination this season for writing for a comedy series. Everett says the whole thing feels a little surreal: the journey from being somebody somewhere, to somebody who is right where she's supposed to be. "Nothing will ever match this, and it couldn't, but that's okay," she said. "A lot of people don't get the opportunity to have a TV show, to live a life beyond their wildest dreams. And then to get to do it with the people I love? It's why it's taken so long for me to move on and kind of let go. But now I'm just trying to celebrate that I got to do it at all." The Last of Us season 3 will 'definitely' arrive in 2027, HBO boss says – but I'm still terrified they'll stretch it out for another season

HBO Max boss has said The Last Of Us season 3 might be the show's end This news comes after co-creator Neil Druckmann stepped down to focus on other projects The second season proved divisive among fans and critics based on each season's Rotten Tomatoes score The Last of Us season 3 is set to arrive in 2027, so fans will have to wait a little while to see new episodes on HBO Max. Season 3 will move forward with showrunner Craig Mazin. According to NME, HBO's Francesca Orci revealed that there had previously been conversations with Mazin that suggested the show could run anywhere between three and five seasons. But now, it seems there's a chance it could stop at season 3. HBO boss Casey Bloys told Variety: "The series is definitely planned for 2027. Craig is still working it out whether it will be two more seasons or one more long season. It hasn't been decided yet, and I'm following Craig's lead on that." So right now, The Last of Us' long term future at HBO is unconfirmed, but we do know that season 3 is arriving at some point in 2027. The Last of Us' Neil Druckmann will not be back for season 3 There's been some big changes to The Last of Us since the first season. Most notably the departure of lead actor Pedro Pascal as well as co-creator Neil Druckmann, who has stepped back to focus on other projects. Druckmann is celebrated for his work on the original The Last of Us video games and helped to influence the adaptation. He previously spoke about The Last of Us show's timeline change and seemed positive about it, calling it "worthwhile", so he's definitely helped to make the series the best it can be. Speaking about Druckmann's departure, Bloys said to Variety: "It was fantastic to have Neil involved. A lot of people don't realize that Neil has a full time job creating video games and running Naughty Dog. "It's a really big job that he's got. So I understand why he needs to focus on that. But I believe he's given us a good blueprint with the show. And obviously Craig is a pro, so I think we'll be in excellent shape. I'm not worried at all." The Last of Us season 2 has a much lower audience score on Rotten Tomatoes than the first season, scoring 37% vs season 1's 86%, so it will be interesting to see if a continuation of the series beyond the games will land well with fans. Personally, I'd be okay if The Last of Us ended with season 3 because sometimes less is more.
