Musical fans, you're in for a treat.
Les Miserables The Arena Spectacular — a large-scale version of the acclaimed Les Miserables musical, which played over 200 performances in the West End — is coming to Singapore in March 2026, announced Base Entertainment Asia today (June 12).
Taking place at Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands, the show is expanded from the classic Les Miserables The Staged Concert and will feature an enhanced production with new set and lighting designs specifically created for larger venues.
The show, which is based on the original novel by Victor Hugo, will also include a company of more than 65 cast and orchestra members. Full casting will be announced soon.
A production by British theatrical producer Cameron Mackintosh, Les Miserables The Arena Spectacular is presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia and is written by Alain Boubil and Claude-Michel Schonberg.
For those who aren't familiar, Les Miserables translates to 'the miserable ones' in English.
The story of Les Miserables follows the journey of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who was sent to jail for stealing a loaf of bread in 19th century France as he encounters various people in his life and struggles to seek redemption.
This will be the third time a Les Miserables production is in Singapore — the previous times being 2016 and 1996.
The waitlist for Les Miserables The Arena Spectacular is now open at Base Entertainment Asia's website until June 22, 11.59pm.
Priority sales will start from June 23 at 10am, and pre-sales will begin from June 24 at 10am.

Actress Rebecca Lim says husband brought her peace, security she's never had

Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox SINGAPORE – Local actress Rebecca Lim never had the desire to become a mother. Not once in her past relationships did she entertain thoughts of starting a family with her partners. But the 38-year-old star began thinking she could be a parent after marrying Mr Matthew Webster. She married Mr Webster, a Singaporean of British-Chinese descent, in 2022. The couple now have a 1½-year-old son. Lim opened up about her life struggles in a candid interview on the podcast Who We Are With Rachel Lim. The hour-long episode with the co-founder of local fashion brand Love, Bonito was streamed on YouTube and Spotify on Aug 12. '(Matthew) gave me the peace and security I never had, and it made me think maybe I can have a family with this man,' Lim said. The actress also discussed her ongoing issues with mum guilt when she returned to the entertainment industry to film a long-form English drama in July 2024. Her son was then about seven months old. Filming went on for nine months, and Lim found herself crying and struggling with inadequacy in the initial weeks. Besides not being able to memorise her lines because of 'brain fog', she felt stressed because 'physically, you don't look 100 per cent'. Top stories Swipe. Select. Stay informed. 'I felt terrible, guilty and inadequate as an actor and as a mother then. It took me a few months to slowly get back into the swing of things. I think what motherhood has taught me is to be 100 per cent present.' Lim, who recently hosted the variety show With Love, Becks (2024), also addressed the image pressures she faced post-partum, especially when she made her first public appearance at Star Awards 2024. 'It was two months after giving birth, and you face your female colleagues who all looked gorgeous,' she recalled. 'Why do I still look like that? Why can't I find a dress to fit into? I underestimated the stress of having to turn up looking good for the event.' Lim admitted that, in hindsight, she should not have emphasised how she looked and stressed herself out. She has now found a 'new equilibrium' as a mum, and also learnt to embrace ageing gracefully. She said: 'That sense of insecurity will never go away because you're constantly exposed. But what's important is how you snap out of it.'

Harry and Meghan sign reduced deal with Netflix

[LOS ANGELES] Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will continue to develop film and TV projects for Netflix but on more limited terms, the streaming giant announced on Monday (Aug 11). The estranged British royal and his wife have worked with Netflix since 2020, producing the documentary Harry & Meghan and the lifestyle series With Love, Meghan. The latter showcased the Duchess of Sussex as a thriving domestic maven, hosting guests, harvesting honey and mixing bath salts against an idyllic California backdrop. It has been extended for a second season, and a holiday special is due in December, Netflix said. But while the pair's previous Netflix deal bought the streamer exclusive rights to their output, the new multi-year agreement is a 'first look deal'. In Hollywood parlance, this means Netflix has the right to say yes or no to a project before Harry and Meghan's media company Archewell Productions can shop it around other studios. Typically, first-look deals are less lucrative than exclusive deals, though they also provide producers with more flexibility. Sign Up Sign Up 'We are proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the 'As ever' brand,' said Meghan, referring to her recently re-branded line of lifestyle products, including rose wine and apricot spreads. Bela Bajaria, Netflix's chief content officer, described Harry and Meghan as 'influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere', in the statement. Harry and Meghan wed in a fairytale ceremony in 2018, before splitting from the British royal family and moving to California two years later. Cut off from the royal purse, the pair signed their first Netflix deal in 2020 for a reported US$100 million. That figure was never confirmed, and no financial terms have been revealed for the extension. The New York Times reported on Monday that the new deal is worth less for Harry and Meghan than the previous agreement, citing a source familiar with the terms. Harry & Meghan, a six-episode tell-all about their relationship and exit from the House of Windsor, drew 23 million views in its first four days, a record for a Netflix documentary. Despite withering reviews from critics, With Love, Meghan had over five million views in the first half of 2025, making it Netflix's most-watched cooking show. The upcoming holiday special will feature Meghan hosting 'friends and family' as they 'deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs', the statement promised. Later this year, Netflix will release a short documentary from Archewell Productions about a small orphanage in Uganda. The couple are also producing a 'romance feature adaptation' of Carley Fortune's novel Meet Me At The Lake though no Netflix release has been confirmed. AFP
