Dubai Police arrest young man for recklessly driving at high speed on the hard shoulder
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, stated that traffic patrols promptly initiated an investigation after the footage showed the driver operating his vehicle at excessive and unsafe speeds.
He stated that such dangerous behaviors reflect a clear violation of the law and demonstrate disregard for human lives, stressing that sharing these videos encourages others to replicate this reckless behavior and contributes to an increase in dangerous driving incidents. Furthermore, Al Mazrouei pointed out that this conduct constitutes a serious traffic violation and can inadvertently lead teenagers and those unaware of the risks to engage in similar actions. He emphasized that disseminating such content harms the community and undermines efforts to promote traffic safety awareness.
Additionally, Al Mazrouei mentioned that the specialized teams in the General Department of Traffic swiftly identified and apprehended the driver, taking necessary legal actions, under Decree No. 30 of 2023 concerning vehicle impoundment, which slaps violators with a fine of AED 50,000 to release an impounded vehicle. 'The driver was subsequently referred to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings,' he continued.
He indicated that statistics show that this behaviour endangers both riders and pedestrians, noting that at least 80 per cent of violators have been involved in severe traffic accidents, resulting in many fatalities and serious injuries.
Al Mazrouei assured the public that the police would not tolerate such violations, prioritising the safety of all road users. He urged the community to report dangerous behaviours via the 'Police Eye' feature on the Dubai Police app or by calling the 'We Are All Police' hotline at 901.
Al Mazrouei indicated that fostering a safe traffic environment is a shared responsibility that necessitates cooperation between the community and relevant authorities. He stated that Dubai Police will continue leveraging the latest technologies and intelligent systems to monitor violators and maintain road safety 24/7.

Sharjah Police dismantles int'l drug network operating in Canada, Spain, UAE
Sharjah Police has dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate operating from Canada to Spain and into the UAE, following a major cross-border operation. A total of 131 kilograms of narcotics and psychoactive substances and nearly 9,945 capsules of controlled medication were seized, while seven suspects were arrested in the UAE, according to WAM. Authorities uncovered a drug trafficking route that began at the Port of Toronto in Canada, passed through Malaga in Spain, and ended at a port in the UAE. They began their investigation after noticing an Arab man, among the arrested, frequently entering the UAE with his wife and children. Surveillance and strategic ambushes led to the discovery of the group's operations and the arrest of the main suspect and his local contacts. Police revealed that the primary suspect used his wife and two children as cover for his illegal activities. He admitted to his role in the operation and said he used 'geo-location drops,' a method of hiding drugs in specific areas for pickup, to distribute the narcotics. Five other suspects, all of Asian nationality, were also arrested after evidence showed they were involved in receiving and distributing the drugs. The seized shipment, found hidden in a container filled with car spare parts, was linked to one of the suspects by name. The suspects are now in the custody of judicial authorities in the UAE. The Ministry of Interior, working closely with international partners, is continuing efforts to track down other members of the syndicate overseas and is taking legal action to break up the network completely, WAM said.

VIDEO: Sharjah Police dismantle international drug gang operating between Canada and Spain
The General Command of the Sharjah Police successfully dismantled an international criminal network involved in the smuggling and peddling of narcotic substances. This operation was conducted across a broad geographical area, extending from Toronto to Spain, and encompassing the entire coastline of the country. The security operation was characterised by its precision and thoroughness, leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics and psychotropic substances. The total weight of the seized contraband amounted to 131 kilograms. In addition to these seizures, the operation resulted in the arrest of seven suspects within the country's borders. Notably, one of the suspects, an individual of Arab nationality, had been exploiting his spouse and two children as a means of concealing his involvement in the smuggling activities, the MoI said. The case commenced with the monitoring of an Arab suspect who had frequently visited the country with his family. His movements and organised meetings with local people were meticulously monitored, and the subsequent investigation revealed the network and led to the arrest of its members in precise ambushes carried out by anti-narcotics teams. According to the Ministry of Interior's statement, the suspect admitted to playing a pivotal role in the smuggling of the shipment, working in cooperation with his wife to use the 'coordinated locations' method to conceal and distribute the narcotics. As the investigation progressed, five additional suspects of Asian nationalities were caught and subsequently convicted of involvement in the same network's operations involving the reception, promotion, and peddling of narcotics. Information also led to the discovery of a maritime smuggling route linking the port of Toronto in Canada to the port of Malaga in Spain, all the way to one of the country's ports. A recently arrived shipment was intercepted within a container loaded with automotive spare parts, which had been concealed with the intention of smuggling the goods under the name of one of the suspects. The total amount of items seized included 131 kilograms of narcotic and psychotropic substances and 9,945 capsules of narcotic drugs. Furthermore, a number of tools and techniques that were utilised in the domains of promotion and location identification had been also seized. The suspects have been referred to the relevant judicial authorities. Meanwhile, the Ministry of the Interior, in conjunction with its counterparts in multiple nations, persists in its pursuit of the remaining network members beyond the territorial borders, while concurrently undertaking legal measures to finalise the dismantling of its international branches.
