Rajkummar Rao celebrates one year of ‘Stree 2', makers drop ‘Thama' update

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 completed one year of its theatrical opening on Friday. It was released on August 15 last year and the film was a big success. Celebrating the one-year anniversary, Rajkummar Rao got nostalgic as he shared a post on Instagram. "This day, last year, the lights dimmed, the screen lit up... and history was created. 1 year to the most loved Hindi film #Stree2," the actor wrote, further thanking his fans for their endless love and support. Along with a special character touch to the post, he also teased his return in Stree 3. Bahut jaldi milenge Stree 3 ke sath (We will be back soon with Stree 3),' Rajkummar quipped. The actor also shared a video, which included some of his most memorable scenes from the film. The second Stree instalment brought back audiences to the chaotic Chanderi, where people faced a new threat from the headless villain, 'Sarkata.' To defeat the monsters, Rajkummar Rao's Vicky reunites with Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana), Jana (Abhishek Banerjee), Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi), and, of course, the mysterious Shraddha Kapoor. The film is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video India. As Stree 2 has successfully completed a year of its release, the makers have also dropped an update on Thama, the upcoming film from the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. In an Independence Day special announcement, the makers announced that the first look of Thama will be unveiled on August 19. ALSO READ: 'Thama': Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna to headline Maddock Films' new horror-comedy The video featured multiple clips from the Stree franchise, Bhediya, and Munjya, followed by a brief yet chilling insight into the 'bloody' love story. 'Brace yourself, this chapter is a love story, wilder and deadlier than anything you've seen before,' the makers said. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna will be seen in the lead roles, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also a part of the film. Thama will hit theatres on Diwali 2025.

Amid SC's Order, Wamiqa Gabbi Shares Moments With Stray Dogs: ‘They Are My Family'

Marking the 79th Independence Day, Wamiqa Gabbi urged people to open their hearts and extend the idea of independence beyond humans to include all living beings. Amid the ongoing debate surrounding the Supreme Court's judgement to relocate the stray dogs in Delhi-NCR, actress Wamiqa Gabbi has voiced strong support for their freedom and dignity. Calling for compassion and humane treatment of the voiceless beings, Gabbi took to Instagram to share an emotional post. Marking the 79th Independence Day, she urged people to open their hearts and extend the idea of independence beyond humans to include all living beings. The Bhool Chuk Maaf actress posted a series of pictures and videos with the stray dogs she has adopted or cared for in her neighbourhood and asked for their freedom to live without fear, with dignity, and with love. 'They Are My Family:' Wamiqa Gabbi Shares Moments With Strays 'Say hello to my fellow Indian beings Laila, Jugnu, Gabbar, Milie, Julie and Fluky, and a few others I met randomly… These little souls once roamed the streets, searching for scraps and safety. Today, they are my family, my joy, and my constant reminder of unconditional love," she wrote. The actress added, 'On this 79th Independence Day, as we celebrate our nation's freedom, I hope we also open our hearts to the freedom every living being deserves — the freedom to live without fear, with dignity, and with love." Wamiqa Gabbi Criticises The Relocation Plan Reacting to the Supreme Court's recent judgement, Gabbi pointed out flaws in the approach. She stated, 'The truth is if the procedures around rehabilitation of stray dogs were methodical and far more organised, we wouldn't be going through such a polarising concern." She further criticised the common narrative that labels stray dogs as a 'menace,' saying, 'This unfortunate stamp of 'menace and nuisance' is not for them, it's for us humans!" Let's celebrate not just our independence, but the independence of mind, body and soul for these voiceless souls who give us so much, yet ask for so bare minimum 'compassion'!" She added, 'India mein rehne vaale sab jaanwar kya Indians nahin hain?" (Aren't all animals living in India also Indians?)" View this post on Instagram A post shared by Wamiqa Gabbi (@wamiqagabbi) Supreme Court's judgement The apex court has ordered civic bodies in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad to set up shelters capable of housing at least 5,000 stray dogs each. As per the SC, these shelters must also have proper facilities for vaccination and sterilisation, and the entire relocation must be completed within six to eight weeks. Notably, the court emphasised that none of the captured dogs should be released back to the streets. What's Next for Wamiqa Gabbi? On the professional front, Wamiqa Gabbi is set to appear in G2, alongside Adivi Sesh and Emraan Hashmi. The upcoming action spy thriller, directed by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi, is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. The film also stars Banita Sandhu, Murali Sharma, Supriya Yarlagadda and Madhu Shalini.
