Foundation star spills hidden link with Succession icon joining season 3 for 'joyful' scenes
Foundation season 3 is finally here and viewers can expect a whole new look to the Apple TV+ series with the arrival of Cherry Jones of Succession fame
Terrence Mann, star of the Apple TV+ series Foundation, has expressed his excitement over acting alongside Cherry Jones, who is joining the epic drama's cast as Ambassador Quent for its third season.
Jones, who previously captivated audiences as Nan Pierce in HBO's hit series Succession, brings her formidable talent to the groundbreaking sci-fi saga inspired by Isaac Asimov's legendary novels.

Foundation is set many millennia in the future and revolves around the iron-willed rule of Emperor Cleon. To extend his reign, Cleon has been cloning himself for generations, a succession tactic designed to preserve his dominion.

Three iterations of the Emperor govern the imperial throne on Trantor: the youthful Brother Dawn (played by Cassian Bilton), the prime-aged Brother Day (Lee Pace) and the venerable Brother Dusk (Mann).
Season three sees Brother Day distancing himself from his clones, resulting in diplomatic responsibilities falling to Brothers Dawn and Dusk. The storyline involves building a strong allegiance with Quent, an emissary representing Hari Seldon's (Jared Harris) Foundation, reports the Express.

Discussing the arrival of Jones to the stellar ensemble, Mann told Express Online: "I've known Cherry for years.
"When I knew she was coming on board we were just excited, we called one another and went 'Oh my God, you're gonna be there!'"
He praised Jones enthusiastically, saying: "Every time we've talked about her, she's the most authentic, brilliant actress of our age.

"There's not a bit of artifice on her as a performer or as a person. She's the dearest person you'll ever be with, she gives 100 percent of herself when you're working with her.
"And what a joy, she gets to be my love interest in this season!"
Season three of Foundation sees a challenging overhaul as almost the entire supporting cast has been refreshed.

However, stalwarts including Harris as Hari, Gaal Dornick played by Lou Llobell, and Demerzel portrayed by Laura Birn are returning, with a slew of new characters joining them.

Among them is the not-so-peaceful warmonger, the Mule, performed by Game of Thrones' Pilou Asbæk, who is a highlight of the new additions.

The series greets newcomers such as Alexander Siddig, Troy Kotsur, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern and Brandon P. Bell, enhancing the show's talent pool significantly.
Mann's co-star Bilton expressed their reaction to the updated cast: "To be honest with you, when we saw this new cast list we all turned each other and were like, 'We've got to up our game'.
"Because you've got some real heavy-hitters coming in this season. I mean, Cherry Jones, who's like a Broadway icon and we all know her from Succession.

"I remember she was nominated for an Emmy when we were all on set with her. And Pilou Asbæk, who I adored in Game of Thrones, is now playing the Mule this season."

They continued to praise the incoming talent: "Cody Fern, who's been brilliant in the Ryan Murphy universe, Synnøve Karlsen who, to my mind, is one of the great young British actresses. And a tonne of other new talent.
"All of those performances bring an authenticity but also a new edge and a new vitality and urgency to the show. I certainly felt [a tonal shift] because it was something I felt reading the scripts.
"It is work but I'm also a fan and I watched this show and I binged it, it is so addictive, particularly this season because the tone has shifted to be much darker, much more urgent. Ultimately it has a sense of danger to it."

How I use the three secret buttons on my iPhone to ‘hack' my sleep, road trips, holidays & save time every day

The third trick was only added last year TAP TIPS! How I use the three secret buttons on my iPhone to 'hack' my sleep, road trips, holidays & save time every day Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) YOUR iPhone has a bunch of secret buttons – and they'll change the way you use your phone every day. There are clever tricks for road trips, going on holiday, and even there's one time-saving trick you'll wonder how you lived without. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 7 Your iPhone is more customisable than you may have realised Credit: Apple 7 Go into your Accessibility settings to find a clever shortcut Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun I've been hunting for hidden iPhone hacks for years, and there are a few that are easily missed. That includes these three secret buttons you might never have even heard of. SECRET BUTTON 1 – ACCESSIBILITY SHORTCUT First up is the Accessibility Shortcut, which is hiding in plain sight on the outside of your iPhone. You know the Side Button? It's the one that you use to lock your iPhone with a click, or to pull up Siri by holding down. Well it has a secret function that you can trigger by clicking it three times. And you can change that function by going into Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut. I usually have mine set to one of two things. My main pick is Background Sounds, which makes my iPhone play rain noises. This is great when you need to shut out the outside world. It also works in the background of podcasts too, which is nice. And it's a handy way to get off to sleep, if you struggle with that. iPhone 16e review – I've secretly tested Apple's cheapest mobile and I love the new button but that's not the best bit You can also change the sound that it plays by going into Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Background Sounds. A second option is setting Accessibility Shortcut to Vehicle Motion Cues. This puts moving dots on the screen to try to help you avoid motion sickness when you're in a car. The dots match the motion of the vehicle to give your eyes a reference point, reducing the effect that triggers the nausea. I tested Vehicle Motion Cues on a road trip earlier this year, and I was impressed with the results. 7 You can set the triple-click to do lots of different things Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun SECRET BUTTON 2 – BACK TAP Another very handy option is Back Tap, which turns the back of your mobile into a button. You choose a function, and then you can trigger it by tapping the back of your phone. Better yet, you can have one function for a double-tap, and then a different one for a triple-tap. 7 The Touch settings let you unlock Back Tap Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun To find it, just go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap. There are loads of choices. For double-tap, I've got it set to take a screenshot. You'll use this every day – it's just so handy. And for triple-tap, I have it on Shazam. That's the clever feature that identifies a song that's playing nearby – maybe on the radio or in a shop. 7 You can assign two different functions to Back Tap Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun SECRET BUTTON 3 – LOCK SCREEN SWAP How often do you use your phone's torch? Probably not enough to need a shortcut on the Lock Screen for constant access. Well in iOS 18 (go to Settings > General > Software Update to see if you've got the update), you can swap out the torch and camera icons for something else. The camera is pretty useful (unless you've got a newer iPhone with the built-in camera button). 7 Go into your Lock Screen editing settings to swap out the shortcuts Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun But you can probably get away with swapping out the torch, as you can access that via the Control Centre or Siri easily enough. Just hold down on the Lock Screen, tap customise, choose Lock Screen, then tap on the torch to replace it. I've got mine set to open my Reminders app, because I use it all the time. But you can have it open almost any app, or perform loads of different functions. If one doesn't exist, you can tap on Shortcuts to create exactly what you want it to do. 7 You could replace the torch with almost anything Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun A good option for holidays is setting it to launch the Translate app, but the choice is totally yours. And if you decide you hate it, you can always go back to the plain old torch.

'I'm a lifelong reader — these are the 5 best books I've read that don't get enough attention'

Life can be a whirlwind of work, socialising, parenting and household tasks, often leaving little room for personal time. And when you do manage to carve out some free moments, picking up a book might not be your first choice. However, there's a wealth of reasons to choose a good read over scrolling through your phone. Whether it's immersing yourself in a captivating story or expanding your knowledge on a subject that fascinates you, reading offers a chance to relax, de-stress, and hopefully be entertained or enlightened. I've been an avid reader forever, but I only truly committed to reading every single day at the start of 2024. Since then, I've consumed a vast array of books, from science fiction and romance to non-fiction and thrillers. You can read some more of my recent recommendations here. I make sure to keep up with the latest releases, but also venture beyond my usual preferences to explore unfamiliar authors and genres. This approach has led me to discover some real underrated treasures that, in my view, deserve more recognition. So, without further ado, here are five standout books I've enjoyed over the past few years that I believe warrant more buzz, as originally reported in the Express. For additional book recommendations, reviews and news, subscribe to our free weekly newsletter, The Bookish Drop, on Substack. 1. So Thrilled For You by Holly Bourne So Thrilled For You revolves around Nicki, Charlotte, Steffi and Lauren, a group of four university friends in their thirties whose lives have pulled them in all different directions. As they reunite for Nicki's baby shower, tensions rise and disaster strikes after someone starts a fire at the house. This is a tale about motherhood, friendship and the unspoken truths we keep from those closest to us. The characters in this book still linger in my thoughts; they're all so distinct, yet I found myself relating to each one as the story unfolded. I'd recommend this book to anyone, but especially to mothers or expectant mums. It's astonishing that it's only received 7,000 ratings on Goodreads so far! You can purchase So Thrilled For You here. 2. A Beginner's Guide to Breaking and Entering by Andrew Hunter Murray This book follows Al, an "interloper" who lives in wealthy people's homes while the real owners are away, without them ever knowing he was there in the first place. He's getting by just fine until one day he breaks into the wrong house on the wrong day and sets in motion a pretty dramatic chain of events. I'm not typically drawn to thrillers and mystery novels, but when the publisher sent me an advance copy of this book before its UK paperback release, I was intrigued by the premise. To my surprise (and pleasure), I was hooked within just a few chapters. It's slightly lengthy for this genre, but don't be put off by the page count, as it's filled with hilarious moments and I was eager to find out how it concluded. You can purchase A Beginner's Guide to Breaking and Entering here. 3. Goodlord: An Email by Ella Frears Goodlord: An Email was my first read of 2025, and what a way to start the year it was! Taking the form of one long, very poetic email addressed to an estate agent, this is a fictional memoir of habitation focused on the places we call home. We follow the writer of the email, an artist in her thirties, as she takes us through her life, from her teenage years to the present day, via a succession of short-term stays and shared accommodation. At times darkly humorous and at others utterly grim, this book offers a sharp critique of the housing crisis. Its style makes it a breeze to read in one go, and I simply couldn't put it down. With only 504 ratings on Goodreads at the time of writing, it's a true hidden treasure and definitely worth adding to your reading list. You can purchase Goodlord: An Email here. 4. Faebound by Saara El-Arifi Romantasy novels are a big deal at the moment, and it feels like everywhere you turn, there is a new series or standalone book popping up. If you're a fan of romantasy, there's an under-the-radar book that I believe is worth your time. As an avid fantasy reader, I found Faebound, penned by Saara El-Arifi, to be a breath of fresh air in the genre. The story revolves around two sisters - Yeeran, an elven army warrior, and Lettle, a diviner, who are thrust into the fae realm where their loyalty to each other, their kin, and their hearts are put to the test. The world-building is top-notch (and doesn't feel like a slog), the supporting characters are unforgettable, and the romantic tension between the leads surpasses many other popular books I've read. Plus, it boasts some unexpected plot twists, which are a rarity in this genre. Despite being a Goodreads award winner, this gem is criminally underrated with just 24,400 ratings on Goodreads, far fewer than some of the big hitters in romantasy. Faebound can be purchased here. 5. Four Seasons in Japan by Nick Bradley Four Seasons in Japan follows Flo, a translator suffering from a crisis in confidence, who finds a mysterious book on the Tokyo subway and feels compelled to translate it. The novel in question revolves around Ayako, a strict woman who runs a coffee shop and has just taken guardianship of her grandson, aspiring artist Kyo. Flo follows these characters across a year in rural Japan, changing the course of her own life in the process. This is a beautifully gentle, introspective tale brimming with flawed yet endearing characters you'll find yourself rooting for. I initially picked this up due to its cover (yes, I'm one of those people), but was taken aback by how engrossed it made me feel; the author's years living in Japan clearly shine through. With just over 6,800 ratings on Goodreads since its publication two years ago, this is another hidden gem I would strongly recommend giving a go.

As Rob battles with his buried traumas, the tension mounts, casting shadows over their quest for truth, reports Belfast Live. ‌ Alongside Sarah and Killian, the series also stars Michael D'Arcy, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Eugene O'Hare, Moe Dunford, Ellie O'Halloran, Niall Jordan, and Ian Kenny. Game of Thrones star Conleth Hill also appears in a guest role. Initially broadcast on BBC One, RTÉ One, and Starz back in 2019, Dublin Murders found its first streaming home on BBC iPlayer. Now, Disney+ has acquired all eight episodes for UK viewers to binge-watch. If you haven't got a subscription to the streamer yet, there are three different plans to choose from, including with ads, standard and premium options. ‌ The Disney+ standard with ads plan is usually £4.99 per month, whereas the standard plan removes the ads and costs £8.99 a month, or £89.90 for the entire year. If you'd prefer to go down the premium route, it would set you back £12.99 a month or £129.90 a year, and allows users to stream on up to four devices at the same time. ‌ Dublin Murders was met with critical acclaim following its debut, with The Guardian hailing it "a breathless whodunnit" and praising its "sophisticated and slickly satisfying" storyline. The show's viewers also shared their praise on various social media platforms. "I absolutely loved this mind-twisting psychological thriller. The characters are flawed and have dark pasts which interweave beautifully with the main plot. Well worth the binge-watch," one person wrote on IMDb. Another added: "This gets you hooked from the first episode. One of the best shows on TV in a long time. Brilliant cast." A third fan similarly said: "I found this show to not only be a gripping mystery, but also a realistic study on PTSD and a detective crumbling under the pressure of working in such a traumatising field. One of the best crime shows out there." Dublin Murders is available to stream on Disney+
