On Day 2 of the Head to Head Challenge at Hyderabad's T-Hub, the spotlight turned to contestants from Europe, Oceania, and Asia; and what unfolded was nothing short of inspiring. Each delegate was given four minutes to share not just who they are, but what they stand for, using their voice to support the cause closest to their heart.
Miss India, Nandini Gupta, proudly representing a nation of over a billion, opened up about her roots in a farming family and her journey of learning finance. She shared her "Beauty With a Purpose" project, EKta, inspired by her paternal uncle who has polio and is unable to speak. As a child, she wondered what would happen to those without support or care? Her project stands with people who have been marginalised. She shared her experiences working with para-athletes, bicycling with them, and supporting children with Down Syndrome. 'Standing together with those who were told they do not belong,' she said.
When Miss Nepal took the stage, her purpose focused on Dalit women and their rights. Her project, Panchapranali, is a vow to stay rooted within communities and amplify voices that are often unheard.
Ukraine's representative delivered a stirring message on the importance of restoring education and opportunity in a country ravaged by war. 'Education is not a luxury; it is a human right,' she said with conviction.
Miss Wales took a strong stand against the surge in knife crime, proudly sharing how she has already trained 30,000 people in life-saving skills, teaching them how to act in emergencies in just 8 minutes.
Miss North Macedonia, appearing for the first time from her country since it took on a new name, brought attention to the plight of stray animals, advocating for compassion and care for voiceless beings.
From Miss Netherlands, the message was clear: the eradication of poverty must be a global mission, one that demands awareness, equity, and actionable steps.
Montenegro's representative invoked Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha, speaking on peaceful resistance as a timeless philosophy in today's fractured world.
Miss Gibraltar brought a powerful voice against physical and sexual abuse, urging global action and survivor support.
In a deeply emotional moment, Miss Armenia paid tribute to the lives lost in a tragic fire in Hyderabad over the weekend, near Charminar. She even recalled the history of conflict in her own country and broke down in tears as she spoke about her mission to support children affected by war and loss.
Miss Australia too shared a heart-wrenching story wherein she expressed how 1 in 4 women murdered in Australia are victims of domestic violence. The delegate shared the tragic loss of her best friend, Tara Brown, who was killed by her partner at just 24. Through her foundation, Miss Australia is now working to build sanctuaries for women survivors, providing safety and hope.
Lastly, Miss Bangladesh turned the spotlight on neurodiverse children, sharing her project 'Young Minds Matter'. Through her advocacy for children with ADHD and mental health challenges, she emphasized the importance of supporting young, developing minds in a world that often misunderstands them.
Day 2 of the Head to Head Challenge was not just a pageant segment, it was a global call for change, showcasing the intelligence, heart, and commitment of these young women determined to make a difference. The journey continues, and so does the hope.

Need relief from self-proclaimed gaurakshaks: cattle traders in Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Large numbers of people from the cattle trading Qureshi community took out a protest march from Aam Khas ground to the district collectorate in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Wednesday. The march aimed at pressing for their demand of action against self-proclaimed gaurakshaks or cow savers. The participating protesters also received support from a section of Dalit organisations and farmers. Kaleem Qureshi, one of the community leaders, said state govt has not paid any attention to the nearly month-long strike of members of the cattle trading community. "We demand relief from gaurakshaks who often take law into their hands. These are not cow savers but dreaded goons. The strike by the Qureshi community has taken a toll on different businesses but govt is failing to take note of it," he said. Another protester Muhammed Qureshi said: Maharashtra has no need of police stations if Gaurakshaks are enforcing their own laws." "There is no account of cows saved by gaurakshaks as some of them smuggle cattle for their own profit. These so-called cow savers enjoy protection from govt," he said. Leaders of the community said they have already submitted a memorandum to DGP Rashmi Shukla but still there has been no relief so far. After Wednesday's march, the community has warned of stepping up their protest if state govt fails to pay heed to its demand.

Woman gang-raped in M.P., four held

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district, police said on Wednesday (August 6, 2025). Police said the incident took place on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) afternoon when the woman and her friend visited a forested area under Churhat police station limits. The four accused have been arrested. Sidhi Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma told The Hindu that finding the couple in a secluded area, the accused followed them. 'They thrashed the man and while he ran to seek help, the accused raped the woman,' Mr. Verma said, adding that the woman and her friend reported the incident at Semaria police station. Mr. Verma said five teams of 10 personnel each were formed to trace the accused. 'Three were nabbed overnight, while one man had been hiding atop a nearby hill. Our teams searched for him for 10 hours and caught him on Wednesday evening,' he said. An FIR has been filed under relevant provisions against the four accused, he added. Following the incident, State Congress president Jitu Patwari slammed the State's ruling BJP over the incident and said such incidents prove the 'failure of the government'. 'When will the horror of cases of Dalit, tribal, and women's oppression decrease? When will the government ensure their safety? In the past three years, 7,418 cases of rape of Dalit and tribal women, 558 murders, and 338 gang rapes have been recorded in Madhya Pradesh! The figures recorded in the government report itself reveal that on average, seven Dalit/tribal women are raped every day,' Mr. Patwari wrote on Twitter, while tagging Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who also heads the Home Department.
