The International Cricket Council's Annual Conference in Singapore kicked off Thursday with a significant election that saw Gurumurthy Palani (France), Anuraag Bhatnagar (Hong Kong), and Gurdeep Klair (Canada) winning key positions on the Chief Executives' Committee (CEC).
The trio emerged victorious from an eight-candidate field, marking a major shift in cricket's global leadership.
Palani and Bhatnagar led the pack with 28 votes, while Klair secured 21 votes. The election results brought a notable change as veteran administrator Sumod Damodar, who previously served three terms, failed to retain his position after receiving only 16 votes.

The election drew significant attention as three Associate Member seats were available on the influential CEC. This committee plays a crucial role in developing cricket worldwide and managing the sport at the international level. For Associate cricket chiefs, a spot on the CEC is highly valued and often serves as a pathway to the more powerful ICC board.
The election featured a diverse group of candidates, including former Hong Kong chief Tim Cutler representing Vanuatu, ex-USA cricket administrator Sankar Renganathan from Sierra Leone, Stella Siale from Samoa, and Sarah Gomersall from Jersey.

Two previous committee members, Rashpal Bajwa from Canada and Denmark's Umair Butt, chose not to participate in this election.
The outgoing member, Damodar, was known for his bold initiatives, including attempts to revive the Afro-Asia Cup and his advocacy for more major events for Associate nations. Another notable candidate was Renganathan, who gained attention for his vocal criticism of USA Cricket's current challenges.

The voting process involved 40 Associate Members and five regional representatives from the Americas, Asia, Europe, East Asia-Pacific, and Africa. According to ICC rules, candidates needed to be either an Associate Member representative or have experience as an ICC director.
The newly elected members will serve two-year terms and will also participate in the Associate Member Committee, which oversees governance at the Associate level. This election marks the beginning of a new era for the ICC, now led by Chairman Jay Shah and new CEO Sanjog Gupta, with several important issues set to be discussed during the conference.

Tavengwa Mukuhlani Appointed ACA Chairman, Promises New Era For African Cricket

Last Updated: Tavengwa Mukuhlani is the new chairman of the Africa Cricket Association. He plans to improve governance and transparency, with initiatives like the Africa T20 competition. Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani has been unanimously appointed as the chairman of the Africa Cricket Association (ACA), following his interim role since November 2023. His appointment was confirmed at the ACA's annual general meeting in Singapore on Friday, where all 23 member associations endorsed his leadership. Mukuhlani's confirmation comes at a crucial time for African cricket, which is undergoing structural reform. The ACA has recently adopted a new memorandum of incorporation aimed at enhancing governance and transparency across the continent. 'We stand today at the threshold of a new era for African cricket – an era defined by stronger governance, broader opportunity and renewed ambition," Mukuhlani said in a statement issued by Zimbabwe Cricket. 'Let us continue building on the progress we have made, united by a common purpose and driven by a shared love for the game." Among the key initiatives on the ACA's agenda are the long-awaited launch of a continent-wide Africa T20 competition, the revival of the Afro-Asia Cup, and the integration of cricket into the 2027 Africa Games in Egypt. Cricket made its debut at the Africa Games in 2023 in Ghana, where Zimbabwe won both the men's and women's events. South Africa had sent experimental squads, while Zimbabwe fielded an emerging men's team. An experienced administrator, Mukuhlani has led Zimbabwe Cricket since 2015, securing re-election three times. Under his leadership, ZC has reduced its debt, recovered from an ICC suspension over government interference, and secured a place for the women's team in the ICC's Future Tours Programme. Oilers count on balanced forward lines and familiar defense in 2025-26 NHL season (Image via: Getty Images) After falling short in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, the Edmonton Oilers are heading into the 2025-26 NHL season with one goal in mind—finishing what they started. Coach Kris Knoblauch made it clear after the loss to Florida that the team can't keep doing the same things and expect different results. This season, changes are happening. Edmonton Oilers 2025-26 roster: What's new and what's not Following another tough Finals loss to the Panthers, Coach Knoblauch promised a fresh approach: 'There will be changes to our system. We will be doing things a little bit differently.' That started with the forward group, which now features new names and a few surprise moves. The projected 2025-26 Oilers lineup includes star regulars like Connor McDavid , Leon Draisaitl , Zach Hyman, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Alongside them, new additions Andrew Mangiapane and Isaac Howard have been brought in to add fresh energy. Mangiapane, who recorded 28 points last season with Washington, will be expected to play a larger role. Isaac Howard, acquired in the Sam O'Reilly trade. Edmonton Oilers count on forward depth and stable defense for 2025-26 season Other forward names include Trent Frederic, Vasily Podkolzin, Adam Henrique, Matt Savoie, Mattias Janmark, and Kasperi Kapanen. With a mix of veterans and younger players, the team hopes to find better chemistry up front. The defense group remains mostly unchanged: Mattias Ekholm, Evan Bouchard, Darnell Nurse, Brett Kulak, Jake Walman, and TY Emberson return to the blue line. In goal, Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard are expected to split duties again. FAQs Who are the new additions to the Edmonton Oilers for the 2025-26 season? The Oilers added Andrew Mangiapane and Isaac Howard to their forward group for more scoring depth and versatility. What is the Edmonton Oilers' projected lineup for 2025-26? The projected lineup includes stars like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, along with new faces Mangiapane and Howard. Did the Oilers change their defensive lineup or goalies? No major changes were made to the defense or goaltending, with Ekholm, Bouchard, Skinner, and Pickard all returning. Edmonton Oilers focus on forward depth and defensive stability Despite the additions, fan response has been lukewarm. Many believe the Oilers need more than just minor upgrades to win a Cup. The trade that sent O'Reilly away in exchange for Howard is still being debated across forums and social media. Some supporters feel the team missed a chance to go after a stronger top-six winger or a more reliable goalie. IND vs ENG: Team India arrives in Manchester via train, takes last moment U-turn and walks 300m in rain

Image credit: Sahil Malhotra/ in Manchester: The Indian cricket team arrived in Manchester via train this afternoon and was greeted by a steady drizzle. The team, however, took a last-minute U-turn and didn't take the planned route of exiting the platform where the train had arrived. They instead snuck out from a back door, and the players were made to walk 300m, mostly in the rain, to board the team bus. Captain Shubman Gill was spotted with the team as others rushed into the bus because of the rain. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! India stayed back in London after the heartbreak at Lord's and even had a training session in Beckenham. Every player except KL Rahul was in attendance, and while the likes of Rishabh Pant , Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj took it easy, the rest operated at full intensity. There was a cause for concern as Arshdeep Singh, who is yet to play a game, injured his bowling hand. The side will now begin preparations at the Old Trafford Ground in Manchester with sessions tomorrow, the day after, and on the eve of the match. Why Team India came to Manchester from London via train and walked in rain The first session will be behind closed doors without any access to the media, just like it happened for two sessions in Birmingham, and doors will be opened for the morning session on July 21 and the afternoon hit on July 22. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play this game for 1 minute and see why everyone is addicted. Undo The Indian team will find the city very pleasant compared to London as it is much cooler and there has been consistent drizzle for the last few days. Even the match days have forecasts of rain, but it hasn't been threatening so far. An odd spell of light showers here and there shouldn't really be a cause for major concern. The weather, however, can play funny tricks in England, and Manchester is unlikely to be any different in the coming week. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
