Francis died on Wednesday, her publicist announced. No cause of death was disclosed.
Fans of the 1950s star were worried in the weeks before her death after Francis wrote on Facebook that she was hospitalized in Florida due to "extreme pain" on July 2.
Two days later, she reassured her social media followers with a special message.
"Today I am feeling much better after a good night, and wanted to take this opportunity of wishing you all a happy Fourth of July," Francis wrote on the morning of the holiday.
"Thank you all for your continued kind thoughts and prayers. A happy Independence Day to you and your loved ones."
The post included a picture of Francis previously performing on a stage as well as her with an American flag saying, "God Bless America."
In March, Francis had told her fans she was in a wheelchair and in physical therapy due to a "troublesome, painful hip."
Ron Roberts, Francis's close friend and the president of her music label, Concetta Records, shared the sad news of her death in a Facebook post early on Thursday.
"It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night," Roberts wrote.
"I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news."

Roberts said Francis died peacefully, according to People.
"We were expecting it, unfortunately," the former journalist told the outlet.
"They couldn't locate where the pain was exactly," he said, adding that she had trouble with her hip for "some time" before her death.
Roberts said Francis remained positive in the days before her death, and even confided in him that she felt "absolutely terrible" around the time she shared the optimistic post on July 4.

PRETTY LITTLE BABY'S RESURGENCE
The pop legend topped the charts during the '50s and '60s with her sweet vocals and catchy songs.
In the last year, her 1962 B-side Pretty Little Baby has become hugely popular on TikTok and turned into a viral hit.
"That is the incredible story, I think: That she left this world as big a star [as she ever was]," Roberts told People about the song's resurgence.
Francis reacted to the song's traction in a Facebook post in May.
"My thanks to TikTok and its members for the wonderful, and oh so unexpected, reception given to my 1961 recording 'Pretty Little Baby,'" she wrote.
"The first I learned of it was when Ron called to advise me that I had 'a viral hit.'
"Clearly out of touch with present-day music statistics terminology, my initial response was to ask: 'What's that?' Thank you everyone!"

Khloe Kardashian slammed for 'duck lips' and filter 'lies' as fans erupt over new pics
Khloe Kardashian is facing fresh backlash after sharing new photos — just days after insisting she's no longer 'heavily' altering her images. The 41-year-old reality star, who found herself at the center of a Photoshop scandal less than three months ago, recently claimed on a podcast that she's scaled back on using filters, but fans weren't buying it. She also raised eyebrows last month when she got unusually candid on social media about her cosmetic procedures — but noticeably skipped over what many believe is the most obvious tweak: a butt lift. Still, Khloe didn't shy away from the scrutiny, firing back the next day with a detailed breakdown of everything she's had done — complete with shout-outs to her doctors and clinics. But the controversy reignited on Friday, when she posted a batch of scenic outdoor photos to Instagram. While the setting was picturesque, fans were more distracted by her noticeably fuller pout. Khloé Kardashian is under fire once again after posting new photos 'So cute… except those duck lips. Have you ever thought about toning them down a bit?' one critic commented. 'I was thinking the same thing. I thought that 'phase' was over. She's worked so hard on her physique, but those duck lips.' someone else chimed in. Another asked, 'So the whole not using filters anymore, it was just a lie? Lol.' 'Leave Chloe alone, can't you see she fkd her face?' a fan commented bluntly. One wrote, 'You are lying if you say you didn't edit your face in these photos!!!!' Still another added, 'You changed yourself so much I can't recognize you. You were beautiful before, not less than now. Just saying…' Over the years, Khloe has been slammed for using filters, editing applications like FaceApp and getting various plastic surgery. Back in 2021, she finally confessed to undergoing a nose job after years of speculation from fans about her ever-changing appearance. Though the backdrop was stunning, it was Khloé's noticeably plumper pout that stole the spotlight A year later, she even took to Instagram to thank her plastic surgeon, Dr. Kanodia, for her 'perfect nose.' Her plastic surgeon calls himself the 'king of closed scarless rhinoplasty' and is based in Beverly Hills, conveniently close for the Kardashian family who all live nearby. At the time, Khloe opened up about the procedure saying she 'always wanted' to get a nose job, and 'finally got the courage' to do so. Speaking to Robin Roberts during an ABC special on The Kardashians, she said: 'My whole life I would say - I've always wanted my nose done, forever.'

Dave Portnoy attacks 'arrogant' Stephen Colbert and Bernie Sanders amid rage over CBS' Donald Trump 'bribe'
Dave Portnoy has savaged 'arrogant' Stephen Colbert and his high-profile supporters in a brutal rant after CBS axed the anchor's late-night talk show. The network announced on Thursday that the 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert' is being cancelled. It came just days after the host blasted the network's $16million settlement with President Trump as a 'big fat bribe.' CBS branded Colbert 'irreplaceable' and said his show 'will be remembered in the pantheon of greats'. The network said theirs was 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.' Left-wing politicians Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are among those to question whether Colbert has - in fact - paid for his criticism of Trump. But reports have since emerged that Colbert's show lost $40million a year and has a staff of around 200 people. And on Saturday Portnoy hit out at the suggestion that the president 'forced' CBS' hand, with the Barstool boss insisting: 'What did you think was going to happen? Of course they fired you, I'd fire you in a f***ing heartbeat.' 'For these people - including Colbert - to be like: "This isn't right, we're blindsided..." Buddy, you're losing $40m a year. You have 200 people creating one show,' Portnoy said. WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE Reaction to Stephen Colbert getting fired by CBS. It takes a special type of arrogance to be making 16 million, losing 40 million and publicly bash the people paying your bills. — Dave Portnoy (@stoolpresidente) July 19, 2025 The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been canceled days after the host blasted the network's settlement with President Donald Trump 'We have 200 people at Barstool creating like 30 shows. And some of them, the bigger ones, draw a bigger audience than Colbert.' Earlier this week, Colbert went nuclear on his parent corporation, Paramount, after the company settled a bombshell lawsuit with Trump for $16million. Trump had accused Paramount's network, CBS, of falsely editing an interview with Kamala Harris before the presidential election. The network did not admit any journalistic wrongdoing but the settlement will cover Trump's legal fees and his future presidential library. Paramount also agreed to release unedited transcripts of 60 Minutes interviews with presidential candidates. Colbert said he was 'offended' by the actions of his employer and that he didn't know 'if anything will ever repair my trust in this company.' But Portnoy defended CBS, insisting: 'If one of my employees, who I was paying $16m a year, while losing $40m a year, went on their show and said: "I don't like or trust Dave," do you know what I would do?' He then performed a slit-throat gesture. 'Welcome to the real f**king world... this isn't about his politics, I don't love Colbert, I don't think he's funny... but buddy you're losing $40m a year and then you have the arrogance to go hammer your own company. 'What did you think was going to happen? Of course they fired you, I'd fire you in a f***ing heartbeat. That's not politics, that's just being ungrateful. 'So Elizabeth Warren, Comrade Bernie: Zip it. This is called capitalism in the real world. If you're losing 40m a year, you better shut up and be a good soldier and thank your lucky stars you still have a job.'
