Takeaways, observations from the Ravens' open training camp practice at M&T Bank Stadium

Yahoo4 days ago
The Ravens just completed Day 10 of training camp practices, while giving the fans a treat during an open session at M&T Bank Stadium.
It was a 2.5-hour session in front of a crowd of 26,000 at the stadium, with the free tickets going out within minutes of the announcement last month. Down eight sessions from last summer, Baltimore has hosted nine of 16 open training camp sessions at the Under Armour Performance Center that have been free to the public.
With the practice complete, we're looking at key takeaways from Sunday afternoon.
Mike Green is going to be a terror
The rookie pass rusher showed his skills to Ravens Flock, and he's going to be a terrorizer.
Ravens' key starters won't play in the preseason opener
Baltimore loves joint practices, and with the Colts heading to town, John Harbaugh's crew will get the bulk of their work in this week during that session. Key veterans and select rookies will play in the preseason opener.
Lamar Jackson's deep ball
Jackson hooked up with Keith Kirkwood and several key Ravens on the afternoon.
First team cornerbacks
Jaire Alexander has been all the rage through the first two weeks, but it was Chidobe Awuzie running with the first-team cornerbacks.
Ravens have a kicker.
John Harbaugh said John Hoyland was released because of numbers, but Tyler Loop made that decision very easy.
Ravens are popular
It was only an open practice, but the turnout was phenomenal.
Offensive line depth chart
It was only an open training camp practice, but the offensive line depth chart told a story.
Keaton Mitchell is back

Report: C.J. Gardner-Johnson didn't suffer torn ACL

The Texans and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson got a scare on Thursday, when he was carted off at a training-camp practice at The Greenbrier in West Virginia. For now, the news is good. Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Gardner-Johnson did not suffer a torn ACL. He'll undergo more tests, but he has passed the most important one. Gardner-Johnson, who won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in February, was traded to the Texans in the offseason. He claimed last month that the Eagles traded him because they're scared of a competitor.

Video emerges of Sha'Carri Richardson shoving boyfriend at Seattle airport prior to arrest

A week after reports that sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson had been arrested at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, video of the incident has emerged. Richardson was arrested after a fight with her boyfriend and was charged with fourth-degree domestic assault; the case has since been cleared. TMZ published security footage of the incident, which took place on July 27. The footage shows Richardson repeatedly shoving her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman, as they walked around the airport concourse. At one point, Richardson pushed Coleman into a large pole. Police arrested Richardson after viewing security footage of the altercation. The sprinter was held in South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, Wash., that evening and stayed there for nearly 24 hours before being released on July 28, according to jail records. Coleman reportedly refused to press charges after the incident. Coleman and Richardson went public with their relationship in February, though Coleman reportedly told police that the two have been together for two years. Under Washington State law, calls related to domestic violence require mandatory arrest if police respond within four hours of the incident. Following the incident, Richardson took part in the USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oreg., last weekend. Despite advancing to the semifinals of the women's 100-meter race last Thursday, Richardson later pulled out of that competition. She went on to compete in the 200-meter race on Sunday, but fell just short of the cut to advance to the finals in the event. At the time that reports came out about the arrest, USATF told USA TODAY that it was aware of the incident, but did not provide additional comment. The organization has yet to comment following the release of the security video. As the reigning world champion in the 100-meter, Richardson will automatically qualify for the event at the World Championships in Tokyo in September.

Three Real Madrid Stars Nominated for 2025 Ballon d'Or

The shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d'Or has officially been unveiled by France Football, and three Real Madrid players have made the cut: Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Jude Bellingham. All three are being recognized for their campaigns in what was otherwise an underwhelming year for Los Blancos. This year's list features a mix of youth, experience, and standout performances across Europe's top clubs. From Paris Saint-Germain, a staggering nine players have been nominated, including Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi, on the back of PSG's treble-winning season. Dani Carvajal, one of the best players in the world last year, also had to drop out because of a devastating ACL injury. Other major nominees include Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Cole Palmer, Mohamed Salah, and Lautaro Martínez.
