When Salman Khan called marriage ‘a funny thing'; joked about father Salim Khan marrying twice: ‘He's really happy with two wives'
Interestingly, he once said that marriage is inherently 'a funny thing', making it a fertile theme for films to explore comedy, especially around the events that unfold in a couple's journey. 'I think marriage is a funny thing. Movies like Biwi No 1 (1999) and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) basically focused on that. There's a lot of (scope for) comedy, even in fights that happen among couples. 'Aapke maa ne yeh kyu bola? Khane pe kyun bola? (Why did your mom say this? Why did you invite me for food?)' There's also the saas-bahu stories, and Ekta Kapoor is making money out of just that,' he shared during a chat with Lehren.

Mentioning that although people say getting married is the best thing, Salman Khan pointed out that he has seen quite a few who aren't as happy in married life as they appear. He even joked about his father, legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, who married twice, mentioning that Salim might be the only person he knows who's actually happy with two wives. 'My dad is really happy because he has two wives. And they're both happy too. They get along with each other fine,' he said. While Salim Khan tied the knot with Salma Khan (née Sushila Charak) in 1964, he married actor Helen Richardson in 1981.
Salman is currently going through a rough patch in his career, with his movies not working at the box office. After the underperformance of Tiger 3, his most recent Sikandar, where he shared the screen with Rashmika Mandanna, had also bombed. Sikandar was helmed by AR Murugadoss.

Did AR Murugadoss initially plan Madharasi in Hindi with Shah Rukh Khan and not Sivakarthikeyan?
Sivakarthikeyan starrer Madharasi is slated to release in theaters on September 5, 2025. However, it seems that director AR Murugadoss envisioned the film with Shah Rukh Khan in Hindi. Did AR Murugadoss initially plan Madharasi with Shah Rukh Khan? AR Murugadoss recently appeared in an interview with Galatta Plus, where he revealed that the main character for Madharasi was once pitched to Shah Rukh Khan. In his interaction, the Ghajini director said, 'I didn't plan the whole film (Madharasi) with Shah Rukh Khan, but I did pitch the character to him long back. I told him 7-8 years ago, and even he liked it.' 'Back then, I only had the character…just an idea, not the full script. After watching the movie (Madharasi), you'll realize what I meant by 'character'. At that time, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran arranged a meeting for me with SRK. He was so sweet and said 'we'll do the film', but the delay was very long, which is why it never materialized,' Murugadoss added. The director went on to explain that Ghajini, he didn't feel motivated to pursue more work in Hindi cinema. He also admitted that the lack of communication contributed to his abandoning the idea. Murugadoss concluded that Sivakarthikeyan has a certain flexibility to him, which made him the right choice for the role. This led the director to cast him and eventually develop a complete story with added elements. AR Murugadoss on working with Salman Khan AR Murugadoss recently made the headlines after the director recalled his experience working with Salman Khan on Sikandar. The filmmaker said that shooting with the Wanted actor wasn't 'easy.' In his own words, 'It's not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he (Salman Khan) turns up at the sets only by 8 PM. We are people who are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that's not how things work there.' About Madharasi Madharasi is an upcoming Tamil-language action thriller starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. While the full plot hasn't been revealed, the story is reportedly set in northern India, where a man faces a life-altering crisis. Alongside SK, the film features Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, and Biju Menon in co-lead roles. Recently, the director revealed that Madharasi will be an amalgamation of romance and action.

Salman Khan's Sikander flopped, director A R Murugadoss reveals why as he opens up on returning to Hindi Cinema
Salman Khan's Eid 2025 release, Sikandar, was seen as his comeback movie. However, it turned out to be a bigger box office dud than his other post-pandemic releases. Fans were upset over the dull execution of the movie, and now the director AR Murugadoss himself has admitted that he failed to handle it well. AR Murugadoss admits the problem in execution behind Sikandar's low box office In a recent conversation with Velaipechu Voice, AR Murugadoss underlined why Sikandar failed at the box office. He said, "I couldn't execute it well." The filmmaker explained what was the story on the paper. 'It's about a king who doesn't truly understand his wife. We are all like that — whether it's with our mother, friend, or wife, we often don't value relationships. Only when someone leaves us forever do we feel the weight of guilt. In the film, when the king loses his wife, her organs are donated to three different people. He then seeks them out, trying to fulfil the things he couldn't do for her. In the process, he befriends an entire village," said Murugadoss. Further, he added, "The story was emotional, but I couldn't execute it well.' AR Murugadoss explains why he pulled off Ghajini with Aamir Khan but failed with Sikandar AR Murugadoss also mentioned why he succeeded in pulling off Ghajini with Aamir Khan but not Sikandar with Salman Khan. He said, 'I could pull off Ghajini because it was a remake, not an original script. I had already done it before, so I had complete command. With Sikandar, that wasn't the case." The filmmaker has directed Ghajini (2008), Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014), Akira (2016), and Sikandar (2025) in Hindi. Except for the Salman Khan film, all three titles were remakes of South films. AR Murugadoss, who is now heading for the release of Madaraasi, hinted at its return to Hindi cinema. He said, "I'm not saying I won't return to Hindi cinema; I definitely will if I find my comfort zone. But when the audience can't connect with my thinking, it affects me deeply.' Earlier, Murugadoss mentioned 'language barrier' for him as the major reason behind the bad execution of Sikandar. For the unversed, Sikandar ended its box office journey at just Rs 100 crore net in India.

Salman Khan is one of the most prominent and commercially successful actors in Indian cinema, who continues to entertain the audience in his career spanning several decades. There is a perception about him that he often arrives late at work. Filmmaker AR Murugadoss recently spoke about Salman's working style that the superstar used to come on the sets of Sikandar by 8 pm. AR Murugadoss talks about working with Salman Khan, says it is "not easy" During a recent YouTube podcast with Valaipechu Voice, AR Murugadoss got candid about working with Salman Khan in Sikandar while providing his perspective on the challenges he encountered during the making of the 2025 release. The filmmaker shared that it was "not easy" to work with a star like Salman due to the latter's unique working style. Salman Khan used to arrive at night for the Sikandar shoot The Sikandar director revealed that the team used to wait for the 59-year-old superstar who would arrive on set quite late, not until 8:00 pm. The filmmaker, who is accustomed to early morning shoots, recalled that they filmed day sequences during the night, which created a significant hurdle for the crew. "It's not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up to sets only by 8 PM. We are people who are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that's not how things work there," he said. Child artists would be 'tired' and 'usually dozed off' AR Murugadoss further recounted that Salman Khan 's working style created difficulties for other actors, especially child artists, who would become tired and fall asleep during the late-night sessions. The 50-year-old director stated that he would shoot with kids at 2:00 am even if the scene was them returning from school. Earlier in an interview with India Today this year, Salman Khan addressed the rumors of him arriving late on set. The Tiger 3 actor responded to the claim by saying that his "timings are different". Talking about maintaining disciplined work ethic, Salman added that once the superstar reaches on set, he doesn't go back to his vanity van or sit down. Produced under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson, Sikandar marked AR Murugadoss' theatrical comeback in Bollywood after nine years. Murugadoss has previously helmed three Hindi releases, Ghajini, Akira, and Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty.
