When Salman Khan called marriage ‘a funny thing'; joked about father Salim Khan marrying twice: ‘He's really happy with two wives'
Even though he is set to turn 60 this year, Salman Khan remains unmarried. Although he has been linked to various female celebrities over the years, with the most recent rumour being Romanian actor, singer and television presenter Iulia Vantur, Salman remains 'officially single'. He has, nonetheless, shared his thoughts on marriage multiple times; sometimes seriously, sometimes in jest.
Interestingly, he once said that marriage is inherently 'a funny thing', making it a fertile theme for films to explore comedy, especially around the events that unfold in a couple's journey. 'I think marriage is a funny thing. Movies like Biwi No 1 (1999) and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) basically focused on that. There's a lot of (scope for) comedy, even in fights that happen among couples. 'Aapke maa ne yeh kyu bola? Khane pe kyun bola? (Why did your mom say this? Why did you invite me for food?)' There's also the saas-bahu stories, and Ekta Kapoor is making money out of just that,' he shared during a chat with Lehren.

Mentioning that although people say getting married is the best thing, Salman Khan pointed out that he has seen quite a few who aren't as happy in married life as they appear. He even joked about his father, legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, who married twice, mentioning that Salim might be the only person he knows who's actually happy with two wives. 'My dad is really happy because he has two wives. And they're both happy too. They get along with each other fine,' he said. While Salim Khan tied the knot with Salma Khan (née Sushila Charak) in 1964, he married actor Helen Richardson in 1981.
Salman is currently going through a rough patch in his career, with his movies not working at the box office. After the underperformance of Tiger 3, his most recent Sikandar, where he shared the screen with Rashmika Mandanna, had also bombed. Sikandar was helmed by AR Murugadoss.

The decision comes amid growing rumours that the film has been shelved, though sources suggest it may only be delayed as the studio rethinks its approach. According to a report from Peepingmoon, producer Aditya Chopra is currently reassessing the future of the YRF Spy Universe. 'Aditya believes the spy universe films are veering towards repetition and need a revitalised approach to storytelling and presentation. So he is re-evaluating the roadmap and making significant changes to future plans,' the report stated. The aim, it added, is to avoid 'formula fatigue' by exploring fresh directions and introducing innovative storytelling styles. In the meantime, Chopra is said to be shifting focus to another high-profile franchise - 'Dhoom 4.' As per News18, Chopra is working closely with writer Shridhar Raghavan on the story and screenplay. The reboot is being carefully developed to match the excitement surrounding the next chapter in the popular action series. The report also stated that Ranbir Kapoor is being considered to headline 'Dhoom 4', with the character tailored to match his unique on-screen persona. 'Ranbir is the apt choice for Dhoom 4 and the character is designed to keep his aura and personality in mind,' it said. The makers are also reportedly in talks with Ayan Mukerji to direct, with plans to begin production in April 2026. The new film is said to be set on a global scale, with a distinctive visual and narrative style unlike anything previously seen in the YRF Spy Universe.
