Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau's Baffling Dating Timeline, for Those Seeking Answers

Yahoo3 days ago
Every year, the world gifts us at least one extremely confusing and unexpected celebrity relationship (still recovering from Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet), and this year that honor goes to Katy "Space!!!!" Perry and former Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau. The burgeoning maybe-couple were pap'd having dinner, then they were spotted having another dinner, then a source came through with more intel than we were emotionally prepared for, and now we need a timeline to sort it all out.

Justin and his wife, Sophie, announce their separation after 18 years of marriage. "Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate," Justin wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. "As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build."

After weeeeeeks of rumors, Katy and Orlando confirm their relationship is over, giving a statement to Us Weekly. Ahem:
"Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect."
An Unknown Time/Place
Justin and Katy meet at "an event," per The Sun.
July 28, 2025
Katy and Justin are spotted on a dinner date in Canada. TMZ publishes the news (and photos) one day later on July 29, noting that they had cocktails and lobster at "a swanky restaurant in Montreal."
July 29, 2025
TMZ drops more pics of Justin and Katy, only this time they're in different outfits? Which seems to indicate that they actually went out twice? Either that or they changed on the same date night.
Also on July 29, 2025
The Sun manages to get ahold of not one, but two of "Trudeau's close associates" who are more than happy to spill. Things we learned, in list form:
"He likes her personality, and they are two people who really enjoy chatting about different topics."
"They click very well so far."
"They are going to see each other again very soon."
"Whatever happens, happens."
"He is feeling that talking to her and getting to know her is very refreshing, like a breath of fresh air in his life."
"He was happy to connect with her so well."
"She appreciates him being a normal, respectful person who was very understanding of her recent separation with Orlando Bloom."
"He isn't the kind of guy that would rush things, and she seems to enjoy that a lot."
"He took her on a date, and he was very, very excited to do so."
He "kept talking about it in the last few days."
"He feels like a young adult again."
"He is very excited about the process so far."
"He really enjoys to get to know her [sic] and to talk about many, many topics with her."
"Justin wants to keep getting to know her and see how it goes."
"He is not scared of her being a superstar, and the extra attention that brings."
"He is ready to start another serious relationship."
It's a lot to process so I'll give you a moment.
Oh, and also please be advised that "Justin isn't a guy who is easy to 'catch' and he has been having a lot of women trying to date him since he separated from his wife."

JP Saxe's North American tour cancelled over low ticket sales despite online appeal

TORONTO — A Toronto singer-songwriter who was set to tour North America this fall says he's cancelled his series of concerts over sluggish ticket sales and the high cost of life on the road. JP Saxe took to social media this week, saying that if he didn't sell about 20,000 tickets to his upcoming Make Yourself at Home tour within 48 hours, it would likely be cancelled. In a follow-up video, he says 2,000 more tickets were sold, but it wasn't enough to save the tour. Saxe says he's grateful for the extra sales, that tickets will be fully refunded and he's looking to make sure similar cancellations never happen again. The Grammy-nominated musician, best known for his 2019 single "If the World Was Ending" with Julia Michaels, was set to play more than 25 dates, including Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton and Vancouver. The cancellation comes as live music faces mass pressure, compounded by a shaky economy, years of inflation and concert ticket prices that — in many cases — have skyrocketed by hundreds of dollars this year. "Those 2,000 tickets were a reminder ... of how wonderful it can be to ask for help and watch a community come together, and this really was the nicest the internet has ever been to me," he said in a video posted to social media platform TikTok. "I'm grateful to each one of you who bought a ticket, and I'm really sorry." This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 2, 2025. The Canadian Press Sign in to access your portfolio

Billionaire-Backed Justin Baldoni Now Suing Insurance Companies For Denied Legal Fees In Blake Lively Battle

Justin Baldoni's Wayfarer Studios co-founder and billionaire buddy Steve Sarowitz allegedly once swore 'to spend up to $100 million to ruin' Blake Lively in her battle with her It Ends with Us co-star and director over what did or did not go down on the film. Well, a lawsuit filed this week in California state court by the Paylocity founder, Baldoni and Wayfarer makes it look a lot more like Sarowitz actually meant he wanted to spend someone else's money. Less than an year out from going to trial with Lively in NYC on her sexual harassment, defamation and retaliation action, the Wayfarer crew now is going after some of the biggest insurance companies in the world for denying them coverage to fight the Another Simple Favor star. More from Deadline A Full Timeline Of Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni's 'It Ends With Us' Feud In Court, Online & In The Media Justin Baldoni's Insurer Sues Him & Wayfarer Saying Its Policies Don't Cover Blake Lively Harassment Suit Judge Dismisses Social Media PR Expert From Blake Lively's Justin Baldoni Lawsuit Baldoni, Sarowitz, It Ends With Us Movie LLC, Wayfarer itself and CEO Jamey Heath are trying to force New York Marine and General Insurance Company, QBE Insurance Corporation, some underwriters at Lloyd's and others to pay out polices that they insist they deserve. or pay up. The Insurers sold Wayfarer and IEWUM insurance policies promising to defend and indemnify the Insureds against, among other things, lawsuits alleging defamation. After the Insureds were sued by Blake Lively in a lawsuit alleging defamation and various other claims, the Insureds notified the Insurers and requested that the Insurers defend them and otherwise honor their duties under their policies. However, instead of doing so, the Insurers ignored their duty to defend while they purported to 'investigate.' They then denied coverage, breaching their duties, refusing to honor of their duties to the Insureds. Therefore, the Insurers are liable for breach of contract and tortious bad faith, and are liable to their Insureds for compensatory, consequential, and punitive damages. Having seen Baldoni's own $400 million suit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, the superstar couple's publicist, and the New York Times tossed out back in June, the Wayfarers themselves are also already facing a lawsuit filed in federal court earlier this month over another insurance policy. Put in the docket on July 21, Harco National Insurance Company want a declaratory judgment against Wayfarer. With New York Maine and Llyod's surely paying a lot of attention now, Harco are seeking a court judgement stating they don't have to shell out a dime to 'defend or indemnify' Baldoni and his Wayfarters. The company's argument is pretty simple: In apparent violation of the polices that Wayfarer had with Harco, the production company did not inform the insurance company that 'Lively and others complained of sexual harassment during pre-production and production of the Film.' In this new battlefront with New York Marine and Lloyd's, and maybe because of the Harco lawsuit, the besieged Baldoni gang seemed to take their time reacting to the insurance company's cold shoulder — until they didn't. 'On July 28, 2025, the Insureds' counsel responded to New York Marine's May 15, 2025, letter, explaining why New York Marine was wrong in denying coverage and asking New York Marine to withdraw its denial of coverage, to agree to defend the Insureds, and to pay for the attorneys' fees and costs that the Insureds have incurred, and continue to incur, in defense of the Lively Lawsuit. New York Marine has not assumed its duty to defend,' the breach-of-contact action filed July 30 in L.A. Superior Court states. It adds: 'Wayfarer and IEWUM have been paying for the defense of Mssrs. Baldoni, Heath, and Sarowitz in the Lively lawsuit. They are entitled to be reimbursed for all such defense fees and costs they have paid.' Reps for Baldoni and Wayfarer, as well as New York Marine's parent company, did not respond Friday to requests for comment on the latest lawsuit. Spokespeople for Lively and her legal team had no comment. No actual sums are cited in the nine-claim LASC complaint, but having been brawling with Lively, Deadpool star Reynolds, the Old Gray Lady and a growing and contracting cast of other defendants in the courts since December 2024, even the deep-pocketed Sarowitz must be feeling the pinch. Or, put another way, Bryan Freedman doesn't come cheap. In point of fact, the Hollywood litigator isn't representing Team Wayfarer in this suit against New York Marine and others. McGuireWoods LLP are performing the heavy lifting and lawyering here in a matter that has a very good chance of still being in the West Coast court by the time Lively and Baldoni face off over the main case in Judge Lewis Liman's East Coast courtroom on March 9. Liberal comic details why he's retiring popular podcast, says format has acquired ‘cultural malignancy'

Stand-up comedian and podcast host Marc Maron told CNN on Thursday why he's retiring his popular podcast. Maron, an outspoken liberal and host of the "WTF with Marc Maron" podcast, told CNN anchors John Berman and Kate Bolduan that he's just over the medium and noted that the podcast space has become oversaturated and has a negative edge to it. "I don't want to chase the cultural conversation through clickbait and garbage. You know, I don't want to be tethered," Maron said. "And now you're getting out just when everyone's 100% convinced that podcasts are deciding American elections and the future of mankind. Right? So why get out just when everyone catches up to you?" Berman asked. Maron, who announced he was retiring his podcast in June after 16 years, told the anchor that he never intended for the show to be about politics, and felt that it had run its course. "And we really chose not to do politics and just do kind of profiles and sort of candid conversation," he said, describing how he originally set up the show. "And we were audio, and we remained audio because we believe that's the most intimate, you know, form." He continued, noting that he's satisfied with how much content the show has produced and that he wants to get out with so many other podcasters competing on the scene. "And also, if we stop and at this point, you know, we have a body of work that stands on its own. And in terms of, yeah, podcasts being the new medium, that means there's 10,000 podcasts. Everyone's doing one, and it's just, the environment is a little cluttered and oversaturated." "We did what we set out to do. It was never really about money. It was about creating a unique and interesting show. And there's no reason to keep plugging along just because you can," Maron added. Bolduan followed up by asking what he thinks about podcasting today. Maron replied by saying it has allowed many podcasters to set up their own "little showbusiness empires" and has given people freedom to use them for "evil." "So, I mean, like any medium, it can be used for bad or evil," he said. "So, I mean, you know, what are you going to do? But it is the way the media landscape is working." Maron added, "Look, there's a sort of cultural malignancy to it in some ways and – but in some areas people are doing really interesting stuff." Though Maron didn't specify what this "cultural malignancy" is, in the past he has called out podcasters who have supported right-wing causes and President Donald Trump. Three days after podcast host Joe Rogan had Trump on his show just ahead of the 2024 election, Maron shared a blog post in which he wrote, "Popular podcasts became tribal and divisive years ago. Now they may be in the position to become part of the media oligarchy under the new anti-democratic government." Representatives for Marc Maron did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
