Toronto man arrested in sexual assault of 12-year-old girl on subway
Police say that officers were able to arrest a Toronto man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl on the subway thanks to witnesses who 'called police and pointed the suspect out.'
Investigators say they were called to the area of Main Street and Danforth Avenue at around 10 a.m. on Sunday.
They allege that a 12-year-old girl was on the subway when she was approached by a suspect who sexually assaulted her.
A suspect, identified as 60-year-old Shahzad Sherzay, has been charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference in connection with the incident.
Police say they believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward and as a result have released an image of the accused.
The investigation is ongoing.

‘Serious incident' in Downtown Vancouver under investigation

Police are providing few details about what they describe as a 'serious incident' in and around Vancouver's Robson Square Sunday. Around 8:30 a.m. yellow police tape was blocking off the north end of the courthouse complex, snaking around buildings and cordoning off of nearby streets. A police drone was seen flying overhead and at least a dozen officers were on scene. The Vancouver Police Department provided a brief statement in response to a CTV News request for information. Road near Temiskaming Shores reopens after multi-vehicle crash

Police announced the incident, which occurred between Sunnyside Road and Dutton Street in the Temiskaming Shores area, on social media at about 12:40 p.m. and the roadway reopened shortly after 2:30 p.m. The Temiskaming OPP detachment had advised drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while their investigation was ongoing.
