66 Arunachal villages along Myanmar border to be developed under VVP: CM

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday said 66 villages in the state along the Indo-Myanmar border have been identified for development under the Centre's Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP).
These villages fall within Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of the frontier state, Khandu said in a post on social media.
He said while 42 villages are located in Changlang district, 13 are in Longding and 11 in Tirap district.
Terming the initiative as last-mile development', Khandu wrote that focus will be on roads, telecom, electricity, livelihoods and skill development.
According to the 2011 census, Wakka village in Longding has the highest population among the selected villages with over 2,000 residents, followed by Gandhigram in Changlang with 1,754 people and Khanu in Longding with 1,629.
The least populated villagesall from Changlang districtinclude Old Potuk (41), Gaherigram (57), and Lungtung (71).
In Tirap district, the identified villages are Old Bunting, Sanliam, Raho, Lazu, Noglo, Upper Chinhan, Lower Chinhan, Tutnyu, Lonyen, New Kothung, and Nogna.
Wakka, Khanu, Chongkhow, Chop, Khogla, Kampong, Jagan, Khasa, Konnu, Konsa, Lower Pongchau, Pongchau, Pongchau HQ, and Votnu have been identified in Longding district.
In Changlang, 42 villages across seven blocks namely Khagam-Miao, Kantang, Khimiyong, Manmao, Nampong, Yatdam, and Vijoynagar have been identified.
Officials said the programme aims to address gaps in livelihood, infrastructure, tourism, skill development, and connectivityincluding roads, telecom, housing, and renewable energyto encourage residents to stay in the border villages.
In the first phase of the Vibrant Village Programme, the Centre had approved 455 villages along the Indo-Bhutan and Indo-Tibet border on February 15, 2023. Of these, 135 villages were unconnected.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of plunging Tamil Nadu into unprecedented debt, claiming that the State now topped the chart in availing loans and burdening individuals with increasing liabilities. Addressing a public meeting in Vedaranyam as part of his Makkalai Kappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom campaign, Mr. Palaniswami said: 'Under Mr. Stalin's government, a child is born with a debt of ₹1.5 lakh. This is the result of financial mismanagement and poor governance.' He alleged that the DMK government had borrowed over ₹5 lakh crore since coming to power this term and warned that the burden of repayment would fall on the people. 'To cover these debts, they will impose new taxes or increase existing ones. It is the public who will pay for the government's inefficiency,' he said. 'But under this government, only 50,000 vacancies have been filled,' he said. Waive off dues accruing out of CAPF deployment: CM to Shah
Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Friday urged Union home minister Amit Shah waive off Centre's dues, amounting to Rs 13,299.69 crore, which has accumulated in lieu of deployment of Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF ) in Jharkhand for anti-extremist operations over the years. Notably, the centre has asked the state to pay the amount which has accrued since CRPF was deployed by centre for the operations in Jharkhand. A statement issued by the state information and public relations department late on Friday night said, "The CM in his letter urged the dues to be waived off as its payment would cause a financial burden on limited resources of the state and would affect implementation of development schemes." At present, 14 battalions of central paramilitary forces including nine of CRPF, two of CoBRA and three of Seema Suraksha Bal are deployed in anti-extremist operations in Jharkhand. The development comes after Shah chaired a meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council in Ranchi earlier this month and declared the Jharkhand, along with several other of its neighbouring states, had become largely free of Naxalism. Union MoS applauds Meghalaya's progress
Shillong: Union minister of state for cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar concluded his two-day official visit to Meghalaya on Friday as part of the Centre's ongoing efforts to assess and accelerate development initiatives in the northeast and lauded the progress of Meghalaya in various spheres. The minister engaged with senior state officials, district administrators and departments to review the implementation of centrally-sponsored schemes and emphasised on infrastructure, social empowerment and livelihood-based programmes.
