Where was Wednesday filmed? Season 2 of Netflix show's filming locations revealed

Wednesday season 2 has now been released on Netflix and the new episodes were not shot in Romania. Wednesday, one of Netflix 's most successful shows to date, has made a triumphant return today with the first part of its second season. The show's stunning visuals and breathtaking sets have already sparked curiosity among fans about where the second season was filmed - a location completely different from the first season. ‌ The inaugural season of the supernatural series, starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, was fittingly shot in Romania, famously known as Dracula's homeland. However, due to various reported 'logistical challenges' during filming, Wednesday has since relocated. ‌ Tim Burton's gothic series, featuring stars such as Catherine Zeta-Jones and Fred Armisen, has returned for a second season in a drastically different setting, reports the Express. ‌ Where was Wednesday season 2 filmed? For the second season of the Netflix series, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar reportedly chose Ireland, an obvious choice given its gothic castles and dark forests. While Cantacuzino Castle in Romania served as the famous Nevermore Academy in the first season, the production turned to Charleville Castle in County Offaly, central Ireland, for its new location. ‌ Dublin locals might also recognise Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility, where Tyler Galpin (played by Hunter Doohan) is being held, as it was filmed at Clonliffe College. Furthermore, Dublin's Trinity College was also cleverly transformed to resemble Newark Airport in the opening episode of season 2, whilst Wednesday's encounter with sinister serial killer the Kansas City Scalper (Haley Joel Osment) at his residence was filmed at a housing development in the County Wicklow town of Newcastle. County Wicklow's Ashford Studios also supplied numerous interior scenes for the programme, including Nevermore Academy's Founders Pyre and the internal shots of Willow Hill and Rotwood Cottage. ‌ Furthermore, Camp Jericho and Nevermore Cemetery were constructed at a stunning 18th century estate renowned for its gardens called Powerscourt House. The 2017 film Little Women and other acclaimed productions such as Laurence Olivier's Henry V and Excalibur have similarly been filmed on the estate's grounds. ‌ Get Netflix free with Sky from £15 Sky Get the deal here Product Description What has Ireland said about the Netflix show? Screen Ireland had previously declared that Wednesday's production would be the "largest production to ever film in Ireland". Acknowledging this cinematic achievement, Taoiseach Simon Harris marked the occasion by visiting the set. ‌ There, he held discussions with the programme's creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, alongside series director Tim Burton. The politician remarked: "I'm delighted to see Ireland continues to be chosen as a location to film series and movies which supports our economy, creates jobs, showcases our creative talents and promotes our country on a global stage. "Ireland has long been a home for MGM Television productions from the original Vikings in 2012, to Vikings: Valhalla, and now Wednesday," Lindsay Sloane, Head of MGM Television, added. "We have found resources in Ireland to be top notch and an incredibly skilled group of professionals and apprentices that help bring our productions to life." Wednesday season 2 part 1 is currently available for viewing on Netflix.

The Hundred set for Twenty20 transformation as early as next year

The Hundred could be changed to a Twenty20 competition as soon as next year. The 100-ball format is enshrined in the England and Wales Cricket Board's domestic TV contracts with Sky Sports and the BBC until 2028 but the Guardian has learned that both broadcasters are open to switching to T20 next summer if requested by the newly formed Hundred board, which will be dominated by representatives of the eight franchises. The ECB first explored dropping the Hundred in favour of the global-standard T20 format two years ago in informal discussions, which drew a lukewarm response from Sky in particular. The broadcaster has invested heavily in marketing the Hundred, which has succeeded in attracting more diverse crowds to grounds and has a younger TV audience than other forms of cricket on the network, while the BBC also likes the format as it is easier to fit shorter matches into its schedules. The sale of, in most cases, minority stakes in the eight franchises for £520m this year has altered the power dynamics, however, with the new co-owners expected to have a huge influence over the future of the competition given the collective size of their investment. Four of the joint owners are Indian Premier League franchises, two are Indian-American consortiums, and two are US investment companies. Formal discussions will not take place until the Hundred board meets for the first time in October, but the issue of format is expected to feature prominently. The 20-strong board will be made up of four representatives from the ECB and two each from the eight host venues and new investors, which effectively puts the franchises in control. A source at one franchise said that the IPL owners in particular want to switch to T20 to align with the other franchise leagues where they operate teams in India, South Africa, the US and the United Arab Emirates. The T20 format will also be used in the Olympics when cricket returns after 132 years at Los Angeles 2038, which is particularly significant given India are bidding to host the Games in 2036. This summer's Hundred is effectively a transitional tournament before the new owners formally come on board on 1 October, when the outstanding sales of Oval Invincibles and Trent Rockets are due to be completed. While Sky and the BBC have resisted ditching the Hundred until this point, there is a growing feeling that it would be better to relaunch the competition with a bang next year rather than make a series of incremental changes. There will be other significant innovations next year, including new team names at some franchises, new commercial deals and a fresh digital strategy. It is anticipated that the Hundred name and branding would be retained following a format change, given it is established.

Never Mind The Buzzcocks star quits after four years as replacement confirmed

Daisy May Cooper has stepped down from her starring role on a hit TV show after four years and her replacement has been announced It's been almost a decade since Daisy May Cooper found fame alongside her brother Charlie Cooper when they created the hit sitcom This Country. And since then, Daisy has gone on to even further success with Am I Being Unreasonable? whilst also making appearances on shows such as The Masked Singer and Ru Paul's Drag Race. ‌ Since 2021, she has acted as Team Captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and featured alongside the likes of host Greg Davies, and Noel Fielding has appeared as a fellow team captain. But whilst her co-stars have all been confirmed to have signed on for the next series of Sky's music-themed comedy panel game show, Daisy has quit and will be replaced by Sophie Wilan for series five, who previously stepped in when the comedienne was on maternity leave. ‌ Jamali Maddix will be coming back as a regular panellist and the series, which was revived by Sky in 2021 following a near-20-year run on BBC Two, will feature themes such as the nineties, noughties, as well as girl bands, boy bands and rock groups when its latest batch of episodes airs this autumn. ‌ Viewers can also expect to see a host of celebrity guests taking part when the cult classic returns to screens for its latest outing. It comes after Gary Lineker 'signs a huge deal with ITV to host new show' after BBC exit. Director of Sky Arts and Entertainment, Phil Edgar-Jones said: "It's the starriest line-up you could hope for this year on Buzzcocks with something to satisfy every musical taste from the nineties through the noughties via boy and girl bands right to the present day. Throw in a healthy dose of unpredictability and mad comedy and you'd get the perfect fourth album." ‌ Daisy's Buzzcocks axing comes after she reportedly stepped down from Celebrity Traitors, which is also set to air in the autumn. A source said at the time: 'It's caused producers a real headache as it's so close to filming. "They'd banked on Daisy and Charlie being TV gold so it's disappointing they won't be a part of the first Celebrity Traitors. They're hilarious and brilliant on telly together - plus being brother and sister would have brought a really interesting element to the series.' Away from the world of showbiz, the BAFTA-winning actress welcomed baby Benji with partner Anthony Huggins, 45, in June. She also has Pip, six, and Jack, three, from a previous relationship. Charlie, 35, has two children with his wife Leighanne. Daisy and Will Weston married in The Cotswolds in September 2019, and they have two children together, whom they are "both devoted parents" to. However, they decided to part ways in 2021 after the Covid-19 lockdown "shone a spotlight" on their marital difficulties. Daisy, 38, is now in a relationship with her new partner, Anthony Huggins, who is Benji's father. The couple met on dating app Hinge in December 2021 and welcomed their child a year ago. ‌ When her youngest son was born, Daisy announced the news via Instagram and detailed how the little one arrived earlier than planned, penning: "You came a bit earlier than we expected and gave me the worst post op constipation that I nearly had to phone the Samaritans but my god you are perfect. "I cannot thank @deliverysuitegrh enough. The way you looked after us through such a scary time was above and beyond." Daisy's pregnancy was announced in March last year when she and Anthony packed on PDA while shopping for baby clothes in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The couple held hands when they stepped out for a spot of shopping, with the actress's bump on full display in a figure-hugging all-black look. The pair could barely keep their hands off one another while making the most of the sunny weather, and Daisy was seen heartily laughing as they went about their day. At the time, a source said: "Daisy is pregnant and is really excited to become a mum for the third time with her new partner. The pair have been going strong, so the addition of a baby will only bring them closer together." Then earlier this year, the couple sparked engagement rumours after Daisy was spotted wearing a diamond rock on her ring finger. Speculation that Anthony had popped the question began in February when Daisy was promoting her BBC series Am I Being Unreasonable? on her Instagram Stories and referred to Anthony as her "fiancé" for the first time. In a clip, she jested that her "fit fiancé and baby daddy" would make an appearance on screen.
